EFEITO DO TREINAMENTO RESISTIDO EM PACIENTES COM INSUFICIÊNCIA CARDÍACA
A insuficiência cardíaca (IC) é uma síndrome clínica que ocorre devido a uma série de patologias e alterações cardiovasculares, culminando em fadiga precoce, fraqueza muscular e dispneia. Estudos apontaram que o treinamento resistido (TR) promove benefícios em pacientes com IC, como o aumento de força muscular (FM), a melhora do condicionamento físico e da qualidade de vida (QV). A presente revisão tem por objetivo identificar os efeitos do TR e a sua importância em pacientes com IC. Foi conduzida uma busca de artigos científicos nas bases de dados eletrônicos do MEDLINE, LILACS, além de busca manual de referências bibliográficas de estudos publicados sobre o assunto. Foram incluídos ensaios clínicos randomizados (ECRs), publicados após o ano de 2008, com no mínimo oito semanas de intervenção. Dos 715 artigos identificados, foram selecionados oito ECR’s, totalizando 231 pacientes, que compararam os efeitos do TR versus exercício aeróbio, TR combinado com o exercício aeróbio versus exercício aeróbio e TR versus grupo controle. Os estudos selecionados demonstraram problemas metodológicos, porém, evidenciaram que o TR evita a perda de massa muscular e diminui a resistência vascular periférica (RVP), além de promover o aumento da FM e aumentar a tolerância dos pacientes ao exercício. Existe discordância nos achados quanto à influência do TR no consumo máximo de oxigênio (VO2 máx) e na fração de ejeção (FE) do ventrículo esquerdo (VE). Com base nos achados dos estudos inseridos nessa revisão verifica-se que a utilização do TR em pacientes com IC é eficaz e segura, sendo uma ferramenta de suma importância na inserção de protocolos de reabilitação cardíaca (RC)
EFEITO DO TREINAMENTO MUSCULAR INSPIRATÓRIO NO DESMAME E EXTUBAÇÃO DE PACIENTES EM VENTILAÇÃO MECÂNICA: Uma revisão de Literatura
A ventilação mecânica (VM), método de suporte para o tratamento de melhora das trocas gasosas e diminuição do trabalho respiratório, se prolongada, pode gerar desuso da musculatura diafragmática, dificultando o processo de desmame e extubação de pacientes nessa condição. Estudos apontam que o treinamento muscular inspiratório (TMI) com o equipamento Threshold pode reverter esta situação, contribuindo para a melhora de parâmetros preditores de sucesso para o desmame e extubação da VM. Para a revisão da literatura foi realizada uma busca de artigos científicos através das bases de dados MEDLINE, LILACS e PEDro, sendo incluídos os ensaios clínicos randomizados (ECRs) a partir de 2010, em que o TMI com o equipamento Threshold tenha sido realizado em pacientes em VM. Dos artigos identificados, foram selecionados 4 ECRs já aplicados e um protocolo de ECR ainda não aplicado, totalizando análise com 230 pacientes. Foram analisados os efeitos do TMI com dispositivo Threshold versus grupo controle. Os estudos selecionados demonstram divergência de protocolos, porém, evidenciam melhora da força muscular inspiratória (PImáx) e índice de Tobin (Fr/Vc), com diminuição do tempo de desmame e permanência no centro de tratamento intensivo (CTI), predizendo sucesso de desmame e extubação da VM e redução do índice de mortalidade. Os estudos demonstram que o TMI com dispositivo Threshold é eficaz para a melhora de preditores de sucesso de desmame e extubação da VM, sendo uma importante ferramenta a ser inserida em protocolos no CTI
EFEITO DO TREINAMENTO MUSCULAR INSPIRATÓRIO EM PACIENTES COM SÍNDROME CORONARIANA AGUDA SUBMETIDOS A UM PROGRAMA DE REABILITAÇÃO CARDÍACA FASE III
A síndrome coronariana aguda (SCA) é caracterizada por isquemia miocárdica aguda causada por hipoperfusão miocárdica. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar o efeito de um protocolo de treinamento muscular inspiratório em pacientes com SCA que participam de um programa de reabilitação cardíaca na fase III. Este foi um ensaio clínico não randomizado controlado por placebo em pacientes com diagnóstico clínico de SCA. A amostra foi composta por oito indivíduos, distribuídos em 2 grupos: treinamento muscular inspiratório (TMI) e reabilitação cardíaca (RC) (TMI-RC) (n=4) e RC (n=4). Antes e após o protocolo de TMI, foram realizados os testes de função muscular ventilatória e de função pulmonar, além da aplicação de um questionário sobre qualidade de vida. No grupo TMI-RC a média inicial da pressão inspiratória máxima (PImáx) foi (67,5 ± 7,55) e final (101,00 ± 13,34), p=0,068; e a média da pressão expiratória máxima (PEmáx) inicial (84,00 ± 14,17) e final (104,25±18,59), p=0,068. A média da pressão arterial sistólica (PAS) inicial foi (121,92±11,45) e final (105,42±7,36), p=0,068; pressão arterial diastólica (PAD) inicial (72,25±5,34) e PAD final (67,75±5,49), p=0,068; frequência cardíaca (FC) inicial (73,33±7,37) e final (72,17±5,01), p=0,713. Os resultados apontam que o TMI combinado com a RC convencional pode resultar no incremento da força da musculatura inspiratória e na diminuição da PA e FC
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
