TITIUS-BODE`S Relation and 55 Cancri
No full textTwo kinds of important issues on Titius-Bode`s relation have been discussed up to now: one is if there is a simple mathematical relation between distances of natural bodies orbiting a central body, and the other is if there is any physical basis for such a relation. These may be tackled by answering a question whether Titius-Bode`s relation is valid universally in exo-planetary systems. We have examined whether Titius Bode`s relation is also applicable to exo-planetary systems by statistically studying the distribution of the ratio of rotational periods of two planets in an exo-planetary system, 55 Cnc, by comparing it with that derived from Titius-Bode`s relation. We find that the distribution of the ratio of rotational periods of randomly chosen two planets in the 55 Cnc system is apparently inconsistent with that derived from Titius-Bode`s relation. The probability that two data sets are drawn from the same distribution function is 50%. We also find that the Fourier power spectra show that the distribution of the semi-major axis of planets in the 55 Cnc system seems to be stretched. We conclude by pointing out that large numbers of planets should be examined to more convincingly explain the distribution of the distance of planetary formation regions
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Bodes biggest scandal took place during the second world war, when he traveled to Norway, during the occupation, and worked for the Nazi regime. Since Bode was a public person and a man who constantly drew a lot of attention to him, the media often wrote about him during his career. However, after his stay in Norway, Bode became pariah in Sweden and the writing about him ceased. About 30 years later, Bode died almost totally forgotten. There are several biographies about Johnny Bode´s life and there is one research report that goes through his life. Something that does not exist however is an overview about what was being said about him during different periods of time. The purpose with this essay is to go through what was has been said about Bode between 1983 – 1987, and between 2009 – 2023, while then compare these periods. This will be done by discourse theory and discourse analysis. Since discourse theory is a very wide theory, a discussion about how discourse should be defined in this essay, will also take place. The material that is used in this essay are mainly articles from various newspapers in Sweden, as well as the Johnny Bode Appreciation Society and the book Swedish swindlers and cheaters (Svenska svindlare och fuskare) written by Fredrik Kullberg. The results shows that the parts of Bode´s life that where presented between 1983 – 1987 were the fact that he was a forgotten celebrity, his stay in Norway and his LP disc The brothel mother´s songs (Bordellmammas visor), while the parts of Bode´s life that where presented between 2009 – 2023 was mainly his scandalous life story and his title as the Father of the Genitalia rock

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
Evidence of a visual-to-auditory cross-modal sensory gating phenomenon as reflected by the human P50 event-related brain potential modulation
No full textWe investigated the existence of a cross-modal sensory gating reflected by the modulation of an early electrophysiological index, the P50 component. We analyzed event-related brain potentials elicited by audiovisual speech stimuli manipulated along two dimensions: congruency and discriminability. The results showed that the P50 was attenuated when visual and auditory speech information were redundant (i.e. congruent), in comparison with this same event-related potential component elicited with discrepant audiovisual dubbing. When hard to discriminate, however, bimodal incongruent speech stimuli elicited a similar pattern of P50 attenuation. We concluded to the existence of a visual-to-auditory cross-modal sensory gating phenomenon. These results corroborate previous findings revealing a very early audiovisual interaction during speech perception. Finally, we postulated that the sensory gating system included a cross-modal dimension. © 2003 Elsevier Science Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved
