No full textDiciotto anni di attività de La società degli individui e cinque dei Quaderni della Ginestra hanno permesso di riunire gli sforzi intellettuali di diversi collaboratori accomuna ti dalla prospettiva di una ricerca che, pur nelle sue diverse sfaccettature, si può riassumere nel macro tema "Individualismo e Comunità". La vastità di tale proposta non si esaurisce ovviamente a questo. Da un lato, infatti, le riviste hanno saputo sviscerare argomenti di dibattito che hanno esulato da tali tematiche, pur mantenendole come orizzonte concettuale. Dall'altro, i singoli collaboratori sono riusciti a far convergere le proprie ricerche in una prospettiva di dialogo reciproco, arricchita dell'eterogeneità delle rispettive specializzazioni. Proprio tale eterogeneità costituisce il filo rosso del nuovo numero dei Quaderni della Ginestra , il cui obiettivo è riunire alcuni collaboratori delle riviste per presentare, in uno spazio ridotto, gli sviluppi più recenti delle loro ricerche, al fine di darne uno sguardo retrospettivo mescolandole con le proprie esperienze di vita, o di ripensare, in generale, la filosofia come disciplina. Filo conduttore che unisce le varie ri flessioni è infatti il ripensamento del ruolo della filosofia nel dibattito contemporaneo, sia nella sua valenza morale trascendentale, sia nella sua utilità pratica e interdisciplinare
George Frankl: an undervalued voice in the history of autism
Full text linkThis paper aims to propose that the psychiatrist George Frankl had more than a marginal role in the early history of autism. Frankl’s conception of autism as characterized by a lack of affective language has influenced both Asperger and Kanner. First, this proposal is historically supported; second it is corroborated by Frankl’s unpublished manuscript on Autism. We found that Frankl’s perspective about autism was, and still can be, considered innovative for multiple reasons. Specifically, Frankl proposed that autism could cover a spectrum of conditions; that it is a state of mind that is not necessarily abnormal; and that it is a neurobiological condition, which primarily needs to be understood by others. Finally, Frankl’s concepts of affective contact and affective language are reconsidered with reference to contemporary neuropsychology from which autism emerges not as a higher-order cognitive deficit, but as a result of an impairment of primordial ability to process low level sensory, motor and perceptual information gained through experiencing other persons

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
