The topic of the thesis was to develop my design company’s sevice concept and brand plan using means of design for the future company.

Itseopiskelumateriaali mahdollistaa syventymisen

Infertility is a growing problem. In Finland about 3 000 new couples seek infertility treatment every year. Success rate of assisted reproductive techniques has improved which has enabled parenthood for many childless couples. Infertility means inability to conceive a pregnancy after 12 months of unprotected intercourse. There are several causes of infertility and all the causes cannot be recognized.
Our aim was to expand the course of Nursing Care of Women in midwifery studies by creating an encompassing high-quality self-study material about this current and growing problem.
The self-study material was a part of a research and development project for Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The literature used for the planning of the material was based on current and evidence-based data. The product was tested by midwifery students by reading the material and
answering open-ended questions. Changes in the material were made after receiving the feedback and before publishing the product.
The final outcome of this project is a high-quality self-study material about infertility, its treatment,
gamete donation and use of gametes in assisted reproduction. The self-study material will benefit the future midwives working in healthcare and encountering the patients who have experienced infertility. It will also benefit the teachers who obtain the access rights to the product. The final
beneficiaries are the patients. The self-study material can be edited and updated while the methods of infertility treatments develop further. In future it is possible to develop a bigger material bank about the issues that are not taught in the theoretical studies of midwifery
Modeling the influence of district heating systems on drinking water temperatures in domestic drinking water systems within domestic properties
In this research, we investigated the influence of the heating of drinking water in the connection pipe under the influence of nearby district heating and the effect this has on water temperatures throughout the domestic drinking water system (DDWS) of a typical Dutch domestic property. We found that stagnant water in the connection pipe warms up fast, reaching the surrounding ground temperature in about 15 min, and these temperatures can be found throughout the house at taps such as the shower and the kitchen tap. Flowing water in the connection pipe is also, depending on the pipe length, heated up several degrees. The prevention of high temperatures in the soil around the connection pipe is the best measure to prevent high drinking water temperatures at the taps.Sanitary Engineerin
Vitis vinifera acts as anti-Alzheimer's agent by modulating biochemical parameters implicated in cognition and memory
Background: Aluminum a known neuro and cholinotoxin has been implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease. Its exposure is associated with impairment of the memory and cognition. Objective: The present study was undertaken to evaluate the anti-Alzheimer’s activity of Vitis vinifera in aluminum induced Alzheimer’s disease. Materials and methods: In this study, we investigated the behavioral and biochemical effects of aluminum in Sprague-Dawley rats. Animals were exposed to aluminum chloride (100 mg/kg/day) orally for a period of 8 weeks. Vitis was given in doses of 250 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg for 16 weeks and the possible effects of Vitis vinifera on the expression of Tau and amyloid precursor protein were evaluated by PCR analysis and the possible activities of lipid peroxidation, inflammation and anti-cholinesterase activity were evaluated. Results: Aluminum intoxication was associated with significant impairment in learning and memory in Morris water maze test. A significant improvement was observed with Vitis vinifera in a dose dependent manner. Conclusion: The findings of the present study revealed the significant neuroprotective actions of Vitis vinifera by modifying the biochemical parameters and inhibited the mRNA expression of Amyloid Precursor Protein and Tau, which are the key pathological hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease, which was further confirmed by histopathological observations. Keywords: Alzheimer's disease, Tau, Amyloid Precursor Protein, Vitis vinifer

It is said that he has a high degree of self-control and enjoys the non-dual experience. In this article some references are given from the original Sanskrit texts. Furthermore, the author points out some problems between the teachings in the Sanskrit texts and the actual practices
Effect of wheat grass powder on aluminum induced Alzheimer's disease in Wistar rats
AbstractObjectiveTo find out the effect of wheat grass on aluminum induced Alzheimer's disease in Wistar rats.MethodsMemory impairment was induced by aluminum chloride (4.2 mg/kg, i.p.) for 28 d. Memory function was assessed by Morris water maze test. To study the activity of wheat grass (100 mg/kg, p.o.), Wistar rats were administered it for 28 d along with aluminum chloride. Biochemical parameters of oxidative stress were estimated in brain after the treatment.ResultsThe major finding of this study is that aluminum enhanced oxidative stress. Wheat grass showed a significant improvement in reduction of this oxidative stress by reduction of malondialdehyde levels and enhancement of superoxide dismutase and catalase levels.ConclusionsThe present study clearly demonstrated the beneficial effects of wheat grass that shows good antioxidant properties, and this remarkable effect of wheat grass may act as a key to treat Alzheimer's disease
Real-time simulation based analysis of Fast Active Power Regulation strategies to enhance frequency support from PE interfaced Multi-Energy system
Until recent times, electrical power grids have been dominated by conventional power plants run by fossil or nuclear fuels in order to cater to the electrical load demand. These power plants employ large generators that operate in synchronous with each other to maintain a stable frequency and voltage across the power grid. The frequency and voltage stability, which are respectively linked to active and reactive power serves as a backbone for a secure operation of the power system. Furthermore, since these classical generation sources promised support of ancillary services during unstable conditions, along with power generation, they were characterized as a reliable solution for maintaining the security of the power system. But, due to the high emission of carbon by-products from these fossil-fuelled generators, challenges of global warming and climate change have made it inevitable to decommission them. And more emphasis has been embarked on the adaptation of renewable energy sources (RES) which offer minimum carbon footprint. Geothermal heat, wind, sunlight, and tides constitute some of the Renewable energy sources since their availability are unlimited and involve the least emission of greenhouse gasses, hence Renewable Energy Sources have a minimal impact on the environment compared to traditional energy sources and can effectively tackle the problems which arise with fossil fuel usage. For all these reasons, during the last decades, there is fierce research on finding ways to produce the needed energy in a sustainable fashion. Synchronous Generators, which are dominant in the existing power grid, have the inherent characteristics to relate system’s frequency with load balance. This considerable advantage is found missing from Power Electronic interfaced renewable energy resources due to the following reasons. Firstly, since active power support was earlier the main purpose of using these devices, they were operated at Maximum power point tracking (MPPT). Secondly, in wind energy technology, isolation between electrical and mechanical circuits had to be introduced due to their variable behavior of energy production, and this has led to no inertia backing from the synthetically produced frequency. So with high penetration of RES in the future grids, the aforementioned problems pose huge risks for grid stability and reliability. The current research mainly focuses on the development, implementation, testing, and validation of frequency regulation strategies under the umbrella of Fast Active Power Regulation controllers specifically to support during large load frequency variation in low inertia power system grid. These controllers developed are very generic and can be implemented with slight modifications in all the renewable energy devices with ease. In order to simulate more real-time behavioral conditions, dynamic simulation studies are performed in RSCAD software interfaced with a Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS). Two Test benches have been considered in this thesis, one being an IEEE 9 bus system modified with 52% wind share and another is the North of Netherlands Network. In the first stage of the project, FAPR controller’s proof of concept has been tested on a Type-4 Wind generator setup connected to the modified IEEE 9 bus system. Here wind penetration is scaled up to 52% and a low inertia grid have been simulated. Later, the results obtained here were validated by Hardware in Loop setup utilizing a mock-up grid side converter. The next stage of the project aims at making FAPR controllers more generic. For this the North of Netherlands network was modified by adding FAPR integrated 300MW solar farm, FAPR integrated 82MW full converter based Type-4 Wind Turbine and lastly, a responsive load (Electrolyser) was modified to accommodate FAPR controllers. All together formed a Multi-Energy Hub and simulations were performed to check the practical feasibility and boundaries of operation of FAPR controllers in the future power grid. The results prove that the proposed topology and control strategies can effectively provide frequency ancillary services to the grid by providing support during dynamic load frequency variations.IEPGElectrical Power Engineerin

Turvataitokasvatus esikouluopetukseen Kajaanin Montessori -leikkikoulussa
TIIVISTELMÄ
Tekijät: Paulomäki Kaisa-Mari & Heikkilä Veera
Työn nimi: TURVATAITOKASVATUS ESIKOULUOPETUKSEEN KAJAANIN MONTESSORI -LEIKKIKOULUSSA
Tutkintonimike: Terveydenhoitaja (AMK), sairaanhoitaja (AMK), hoitotyön koulutusohjelma
Asiasanat: Turvataitokasvatus, kaltoinkohtelu, ohjaustuokion järjestäminen
Jokainen lapsi on altis kaltoinkohtelulle. Turvataitokasvatus on yksi keino auttaa lasta pitämään itsestään huolta.
Opinnäyteyössämme on toiminnallisen tutkimuksen piirteitä.

Keywords: safety skills education, maltreatment, organizing a guidance session
Each child is prone to abuse but only 10% end up in the statistics. Parents and professionals working with children often occupy their minds with how to strengthen children's skills to defend themselves and to take care of their borders. Safety skills education is one way to help children take care of themselves. The thesis focuses on this very important topic.
The purpose of this thesis was to organize a motivational presentation about safety skills education for the staff at Kajaani Montessori Playschool and exemplary safety skills sessions to pre-school children in cooperation with the staff. The aim was to introduce safety skills education and promote the inclusion of safety skills education in pre-school education at Kajaani Montessori Playschool. The research tasks were: how would safety skills benefit children; why would it be important to include safety skills education in preschool teaching; how should a motivational presentation of safety skills education for the playschool staff be organized; and how should a safety skills education session for preschoolers be organized?
This thesis shows features of a functional thesis. The purpose was not to explore and produce new knowledge but to motivate the commissioner to utilize existing teaching materials. A comprehensive theoretical framework that introduces diverse perspectives to child maltreatment and predisposing factors for this thesis was collected. The framework also discusses children’s selfesteem and development of emotional skills as applicable and opens up themes related to safety skills education. For comparison purposes the framework also presents how safety skills education is implemented in Europe and elsewhere in the world.
The theoretical framework demonstrates that the prevalence of maltreatment and its consequences to a child's life highlights the importance of the topic choice. In accordance with the purpose of this thesis two guidance sessions were organized. The sessions went as planned, and the commissioner regarded them as a success and felt that they had received a useful tool to use. Also the objective set to this thesis was achieved. In future safety skills education should be intro-duced in all pre-schools in Kajaani and Kainuu region; for example, a project on safety skills edu-cation could be created
