Introduction to Gaze in Human-Robot Communication
Gaze in Human-Robot Communication is a volume collecting recent research studying gaze behaviour in human-robot interaction (HRI). The selected articles draw inspiration from related research into gaze in human-human interaction in fields ranging from ethnography to neuroscience. The major themes of these articles include: the experimental investigation of human responses to robot gaze, the investigation of the impact of coordinating gaze acts with speech, and the development of hardware and software technologies for enabling robot gaze. This volume provides an excellent introduction to the depth and breadth of this growing research area in HRI. The highly interdisciplinary nature of the work presented should make it of interest both to robotics researchers and to researchers from other fields with an interest in the role of gaze in communication

Spatial justice is a concept that aims to promote a fair distribution of resources in urban areas and equality of social opportunity. It empowers urban planners and decision-makers to understand inequalities in urban areas and to formulate policies to reduce these inequalities. Inequalities in cities are increasing exponentially with the rapid development of cities. Slums, which are born as a result of rapid urbanization, are areas where these inequalities are visibly felt. Slum areas, which develop irregularly and unplanned, appear as areas deprived of even basic urban service provision. Inequality in service provision negatively affects the quality of life of residents. This thesis presents a comprehensive survey-based analysis of basic urban services provided in Mutlu Neighborhood, aiming to understand the perceptions and satisfaction levels of people living in planned and unplanned areas. The analysis was conducted through a 5-point Likert scale survey that assessed the opinions and preferences of residents living in the planned and unplanned/slum areas and analyzed and interpreted with SPSS. The experiences of the participants, the difficulties or conveniences they faced were analyzed and the results were evaluated comparatively from a spatial justice perspective. With the survey, a new scale has vi been designed and in the light of the findings, the current situation in the provision of basic urban services in Mutlu Neighborhood and the conditions that result in spatial injustice have been revealed. These analyses can support efforts to improve spatial justice not only in the Mutlu Neighborhood, but also in cities of today, and provide guidance to local authorities. By inspiring future research, this study can be a step towards a more just urban future. - Master of Scienc
MUTLU B.: Modeling and evaluating narrative gestures for humanlike robots
Abstract—Gestures support and enrich speech across various forms of communication. Effective use of gestures by speakers improves not only the listeners ’ comprehension of the spoken material but also their perceptions of the speaker. How might robots use gestures to improve human-robot interaction? What gestures are most effective in achieving such improvements? This paper seeks answers to these questions by presenting a model of human gestures and a system-level evaluation of how robots might selectively use different types of gestures to improve interaction outcomes, such as user task performance and perceptions of the robot, in a narrative performance scenario. The results show that robot deictic gestures consistently predict users ’ information recall, that all types of gestures affect user perceptions of the robot’s performance as a narrator, and that males and females show significant differences in their responses to robot gestures. These results have strong implications for designing effective robot gestures that improve human-robot interaction. I
Energetska varnost v času krize: študiji primera Bolgarije in Srbije
This thesis aims to assess the EU’s external energy policy and to what degree it has been embraced by small states during the energy crisis by posing the question, “How does European Union membership influence the external energy policy decisions of small states within the foreign policy dimension during energy security crises?”. To answer this, the research is taking Bulgaria and Serbia as case studies due to their similar population sizes, GDP, and energy consumptions. This research conceptualizes energy security and energy diplomacy to understand how diplomacy and energy dependencies are interrelated and how this relationship can be utilised as a tool in international relations. Through supporting the qualitative work on foreign policy analysis with the quantitative analysis of the energy industry structures and energy dependencies of Serbia and Bulgaria in a comparative manner, this research is conducting mixed research on the issue. The comparison of Bulgaria and Serbia enables the author to analyse and understand the role of EU membership
The Validity and the Reliability Study of A Cyber Victimization/Bullying Scale For University Students
Research on Education and PsychologyThe main purpose of this study was to develop a cyber victimization/bullying scale for university students and to test the validity and reliability of the scale. In the first step of this study, the validity and reliability of the cyber victimization scale were tested. The first study sample consisted of 486 university students, 320 (65.8) female, and 166 (34.2) male. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, a 6-factor structure was obtained. The identified subscales for the victimization form were substitution, verbal teasing, social exclusion, disclosure, cyber victimization with sexual content, anonymous cyber victimization, The total Cronbach's alpha for the victimization form was .81. In the second step, a parallel bully form was created with the same items. The second study sample consisted of 208 university students, 130 (62.5) female, and 78 (37.5) male. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, a similar 6-factor structure was obtained. The identified subscales for the bullying form were substitution, verbal teasing, social excluding, disclosure, cyberbullying with sexual content, and anonymous cyberbullying. The total Cronbach's alpha for the bullying form was .93. The results of exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis indicated that the cyber victimization/bullying scale was a qualified scale that could be preferred in scientific studies conducted with university students
