P. Merime’s Essay “Nikolai Gogol”
Merimee’s essay “Nikolai Gogol”, in which the author presented the Russian writer as an imitator of European models, a satirist who focused on portraying the flaws of Russian life, a writer who neglects the plausibility of the overall composition is considered in the article. The author of this article shows that such a superficial and biased approach to Gogol’s texts aroused indignation among Russian journalists in both 19th century capitals and continues to be criticized by Russian and French literary critics. The results of a comparative analysis of the essay “Nikolai Gogol” with reviews of French-speaking journalists who wrote about the author of “The Inspector General” and “Dead Souls” in Parisian magazines of the 1840s are presented in the article. The question is raised that the motives that prompted Merimee to turn to the work of Gogol, and the reasons for the bias in relation to his work are still unrevealed. The novelty of the research is seen in the fact that the essay by Mérimée is for the first time considered as a commentary on the stable aesthetic position of the French writer, discordant with the poetics of romanticism and realism. The author dwells on the study of a number of artistic devices of the works of Merimee in the 1820—1840s and his genre preferences in the 1850s

Nikolai Berdyaev’s Personalism
The author portrays Russian philosopher Nikolai Berdyaev as a pioneer in Eastern Orthodox theology with his ideas of freedom and personality. After his deportation from the Soviet Union in 1922, Berdyaev expounded persona-lism in opposition to Western individualism and Marxist collecti-vism. Personality exists in the image and likeness of God, and it culminates in deification. He drew upon the Sobornost’ tradition of Russia and interpreted personality as a communion of love in contrast to reflective self-consciousness of the Augustinian tradition of Western theology
Nikolai Nikolaevich Romanov (jr) – an honorary citizen of Sevastopol city

I like going to Chelyabinsk and Poland”: Nikolai Kolada and the Poles – mutual fascination
Nikolai Kolada’s, by critics called also the “Almodovar of Russian theatre”, artistic work for years is very popular in Poland. This article is an attempt to present the profile of Nikolai Kolada and chosen aspects of his literary output and dramatist’s works reception in Poland. The author also tries to put attention to “father’s of new Russian dramaturgy” cooperation with representatives of Polish theatrical environment and to solve the secret of his popularity in Poland phenomenon
Interaction effects in high-mobility Si MOSFETs at ultra-low temperatures:
This dissertation focuses on the experimental study of the anomalous "metallic" behavior of the conductivity observed in high-mobility two-dimensional (2D) electron systems at low carrier densities (n) and temperatures (T). This intriguing phenomenon seems to defy one of the paradigms of our understanding of electron transport in 2D, the scaling theory of localization that claims that all electron states in 2D are localized. Our experimental object is the high-mobility silicon metal-insulator-oxide field effect transistor (Si MOSFET) in which this anomalous behavior is the most pronounced in comparison with other high-mobility devices.
We have explored in details the conductivity sigma in high-mobility Si MOSFETs over wide ranges of electron densities n=(2-3)x10^11 cm^-2 , temperatures T=30mK-4K, and magnetic fields B=0-5T. The low-temperature behavior of sigma in these systems is shaped by the interaction effects, which are amplified by the valley degeneracy and the interaction-driven renormalization of electron parameters. While exploring the temperature and magnetic field dependences of sigma far from the strongly localized regime ((sigma>>e^2/h) we observed for the first time the crossover between the “metallic” and “insulating” regimes with lowering temperature below ~0.3 K. We have attributed this crossover to the modification of the interaction correction to sigma at low T caused by a non-zero valley splitting and inter-valley scattering. All relevant quantities have been measured in independent experiments. In particular, the intervalley scattering rate tau_v^-1 has been extracted from the analysis of weak localization magnetoresistance. We found that the intervalley scattering rate is temperature-independent and the ratio tau_v/tau increases monotonically with decreasing the electron density ( au is the momentum relaxation time). These observations suggest that the roughness of the Si-SiO2 interface plays the major role in intervalley scattering. The detailed analysis of the sigma(T,B_||) data conducted with no adjustable parameters shows that the theory of interaction corrections to the conductivity of disordered systems adequately describes the experimental data at intermediate temperatures. At the same time, our data indicate that for better agreement with the experiment at low temperatures, the theory should take into account inter-valley scattering that strongly affect the interaction corrections in multi-valley systems.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical references (p. 168-176)by Nikolai N.
