Synthesis of some derivatives of Benz[a]acridine and Benz[c]acridine
The base-catalysed reaction
between o-aminobenzaldehyde and naphthalene-1,3-diol gave benz[a]acridin-5-ol
which was converted into 5-methoxy-7-methylbenz[a]-acridone. The structure of
the latter was established by N.M.R. spectroscopy. ��� Some previous reports on the synthesis of
benz[a]acridine and benz[a]acridin-5-ol from o-nitrobenzyl chloride and of
benz[c]acridone by the Tanasescu reaction have been confirmed.

06.03.2018 tarihli ve 30352 sayılı Resmi Gazetede yayımlanan “Yükseköğretim Kanunu İle Bazı Kanun Ve Kanun Hükmünde Kararnamelerde Değişiklik Yapılması Hakkında Kanun” ile 18.06.2018 tarihli “Lisansüstü Tezlerin Elektronik Ortamda Toplanması, Düzenlenmesi ve Erişime Açılmasına İlişkin Yönerge” gereğince tam metin erişime açılmıştır.Anahtar kelimeler: fotobrominasyon, brombenz[f]indanonlar, brombenz[f]indenonlarBenz[f]indenonlar organik ve organometalik sentezde potensiyel önemi olan yapıtaslarıdır. Buna rağmen kimyaları yoğun bir sekilde arastırılmamıstır. Sonzamanlarda, benz[f]indenonlar gram-pozitif bakterilere karsı mükemmel aktivitegösteren kinamisin antibiyotiklerin sentezinde önemli baslangıç materyalleri olarakkullanılmıstır. Benz[f]indenonlar ve benz[f]indenler hesaplamalı kimyada hedefmoleküller olarak da kullanılmıstır.Bu çalısmada, asırı brom, NBS, Lewis asit katalizörü ile birlikte ısık veya ısı gibifarklı reaksiyon sartları kullanılarak benz[f]indanonun brominasyon reaksiyonlarıarastırıldı. Çok sayıda benz[f]indanonun bromlu türevleri (29, 31, 33, 37)sentezlendi ve 2,3-dibrombenz[f]indenonun (32) ilk ve kantitatif sentezi basarıylagerçeklestirildi. Tüm bu bilesikler diğer sübstitüe bilesiklerin sentezi için anahtarözellik tasımakla birlikte benz[f]ninhidrin türevleri sentezi için de son derece önemlibaslangıç maddeleridir. Benz[f]indanon ve benz[f]indenonun bromlu türevleritruksenon ve dibenzo[c]fluorenonun iskelet olusumu için de son derece önemlibilesiklerdir.Key Words: photobromination, bromobenz[f]indanones, bromobenz[f]indenonesBenz[f]indenones are potentially useful building blocks in organic andorganometallic synthesis. However, their chemistry has not been extensivelyinvestigated. Recently, benz[f]indenones were used as important starting materials inthe synthesis of kinamycin antibiotics, which showed excellent activity against grampositivebacteria. Benz[f]indenones and benz[f]indenes were used as targetmolecules for computational chemistry.In this work, bromination reactions of benz[f]indanone were investigated usingdifferent reaction conditions such as the presence of excess bromine, NBS, Lewis?acid catalyst, application of light or heat, etc. We prepared a variety of brominatedderivatives (29, 31, 33, 37) and accomplished the first and quantitative synthesis of2,3-dibromobenz[f]indenone (32). This molecule can serve as the key compound forthe preparation of other substituted 2,3-disubstituted benz[f]indenone derivatives andbenz[f]ninhydrine as well as for the construction of the dibenzo[c]flurenone skeleton
O processo de escolha do município de Juiz de Fora como local para instalação da montadora de automóveis Mercedes-Benz

Programa de Pós-Graduação em EconomiaEsta dissertação discute o processo de escolha do município de Juiz de Fora para implantação da montadora de automóveis Mercedes-Benz, na segunda metade da década de 90. Para isto, utiliza-se da idéia de modificação de paradigma produtivo proposto pelos autores neoschumpeterianos e toma-se o método avançado de produção enxuta, elaborado pela indústria japonesa, como o formato de produção perseguido. Faz-se uma análise da década de 90, onde verifica-se que, em função da abertura ao mercado externo, o setor automobilístico nacional é obrigado a passar por significativas transformações para se tornar mais competitivo e não vir a perder mercado para os concorrentes internacionais, cada vez mais presentes no mercado nacional. Posteriormente, analisa-se o modelo de vantagens competitivas. Por fim, demonstra-se a relação entre o Modelo de Vantagens Competitivas de Porter com o processo de escolha, além de apresentar alguns efeitos pós-instalação da montadora no município de Juiz de Fora, concluindo-se que os resultados obtidos apresentam-se aquém da perspectiva e do anúncio realizado, tanto pela empresa quanto pelo município, no que se refere à elevação do desenvolvimento regiona

Antiplasmid activity of phenothiazines, benzo[a]phenothiazines and benz[c]acridines
Various synthetic derivatives of phenothiazines, benzo[a]phenothiazines and benz[c]acridines were compared for their abilities to induce antiplasmid activity against E. coli F'lac plasmid. Several phenothiazine derivatives were much more potent in antiplasmid activity than benzo[a]phenothiazine- or benz[c]acridine derivatives. Their antiplasmid activity seemed to be enhanced by Cl- or CF3- substitution at 2 C atom, and modified by the side chain length and charge at the L-region of the molecules, as well as by hydrophilicity
Relationship between resonance energy and carcinogenic activity of benz[c]acridines
In order to investigate the correlation between the carcinogenic activity of benz[c]acridines and the electron density, the Huckel orbital method was used. Resonance energies, circuit resonance energies and bond currents of benz[c]acridines were calculated by Aihara's TRE theory. It was shown that these compounds had very stable aromatic characters with positive resonance energies and that the resonance energies per π-electron values for the compounds with lack of the double bond corresponding to the K-region from the parent skeleton were more stable than those of their parent compounds. 7-Methyl-benz[c]acridine derivatives with the methyl groups at 7-, 7, 9-, 7,10-, 7, 11-, 7, 9, 10-, or 7, 9, 11-positions except 5, 7-dimethylbenz[c]acridine had potent carcinogenic activity and significantly lower resonance energy per π-electron
BENZ WS: The Bologna ENZyme Web Server for four-level EC number annotation
The Bologna ENZyme Web Server (BENZ WS) annotates four-level Enzyme Commission numbers (EC numbers) as defined by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB). BENZ WS filters a target sequence with a combined system of Hidden Markov Models, modelling protein sequences annotated with the same molecular function, and Pfams, carrying along conserved protein domains. BENZ returns, when successful, for any enzyme target sequence an associated four-level EC number. Our system can annotate both monofunctional and polyfunctional enzymes, and it can be a valuable resource for sequence functional annotation
