Information Security: Preventive strategies for countering ransomware attacks : An empirical study on: Do Swedish companies follow scientific recommendations?
Informationssäkerhet och ransomware är två begrepp som hörs allt oftare i dagens samhälle. Informationssäkerhet är en viktig del av ett företags strategi för att kunna skydda data, kunder och anställda mot hot som vill komma åt känslig information. Lika viktigt är det att känna till riskerna om man blir utsatt för en attack. Idag är ransomware ett av det vanligaste angreppsmetoderna för att komma åt data. Syftet med detta examensarbete är att undersöka hur olika IT-företag hanterar informationssäkerhet och vilka strategier de använder för att motverka ransomware- attacker. Detta jämförs med vad den vetenskapliga litteraturen föreslår. Frågan som kommer att besvaras är: hur väl följer svenska företag de vetenskapliga rekommendationerna för att skydda sig mot ransomware-attacker? I denna studie kommer det inledningsvis att beskrivas vad informationssäkerhet och ransomware är. Det kommer även att förklaras varför dessa typer av attacker sker samt vilka strategier som företag kan ta för att skydda sig mot dessa intrång. Tillsammans med litteraturen kommer tre företag att bidra med sin expertis inom området. Resultatet förväntas ge större inblick i ämnet, öka medvetenheten och förståelsen om dessa hot och risker som finns.Information security and ransomware are two terms that are increasingly heard of in today’s society. Information security is an important part of a company’s strategy to protect data, customers and employees from threats that seek to access sensitive information. Equally important is understanding the risks if one is subjected to an attack. Today, ransomware is one of the most common methods of attacks to access data. The purpose of this thesis is to examine how various IT companies manage information security and the strategies they use to counter ransomware attacks. This will be compared with what scientific literature suggests. The question to be answered is, how well do Swedish companies follow scientific recommendations to protect themselves against ransomware attacks. This study will initially describe what information security and ransomware are. It will also explain why these types of attacks occur and what strategies companies can adopt to protect themselves against these intrusions. Along with the literature, three companies will contribute their expertise in the field. The results are expected to provide greater insight into the subject, increasing awareness and understanding of these threats and risks
The evolution of Social Engineering Tactics in the Age of AI : A Systematic Literature Review
A surge of advancements in the AI sector has spiked cases of social engineering attempts around the world. The attacks have become increasingly harder to detect and more difficult to prevent. By using a systematic literature review, this thesis explores the differences between traditional and AI-enhanced methods by analyzing how AI tools can impact the efficacy of the attacks, such as realistic content creations, advanced targeting and automated attack infrastructures. The thesis also highlights the accessibility of AI based tools and how they can be used both as a safeguard but also pose an increased cyberthreat risk to an organization. Through comparative analysis, the thesis focuses on the key differences between conventional and AI-enhanced techniques, discussing the motivation behind why AI-enhanced are more prevalent today compared to the traditional ones. The paper also presents countermeasures that can be taken to mitigate these threats, such as adaptive policy changes, technical safeguards and increased awareness for the employees. Finally, the thesis aims to encourage the reader to better understand the modern social engineering tactics and methods, aiding the development of a more robust defense structure

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
