Frida Beckman, Gilles Deleuze

J. G. Ballard’s Dark Ecologies: Unsettling Nature, Animals, and Literary Tropes
Beckman explores the ways that some of J. G. Ballard’s works can be seen as exemplifying a “dark ecology,” a critique of the universalist concept of “Nature” that keeps animals and the nonhuman world distinct and separate from “the human”. Instead, Ballard’s surreal novels can be seen as resisting a fetishized representation of birds in particular, while calling into question the literary tropes of metamorphosis and allegory that have often served to keep nonhuman animals at a distance, “locking them up” discursively, rather than deconstructing the line between “the human” and “the animal.” Beckman prioritizes questions of form and representation in order to track changes in the development of Ballard’s novels over the course of his career. For Beckman, a different form of potential advocacy can be found in Ballard’s work in which postmodern allegory can be aligned with Timothy Morton’s dark ecology, refusing to hold up Nature as an ideal form.</p
Chick Lit in Historical Settings by Frida Skybäck
Chick lit is mostly contemporary portrayals of single women in cities. The Swedish author Frida Skybäck writes “chick lit in corsets”, that is, chick lit in a historical setting, and she writes primarily for teenage girls. Her two novels Charlotte Hassel (2011) and Den vita frun (2012) balance between chick lit jr. and romance. They can also be read as historical novels, and in my article I highlight how Skybäck has consciously played with the different genres to convey a feminist message and to strengthen young readers

Frida Kahlo -näytelmän puvustusprosessi
Opinnäytetyön aiheena on Kuopion kaupungin teatterissa vuonna 2016 keväällä ensi-iltansa saanut Frida Kahlo -
näytelmän puvustusprosessi. Opinnäytetyössä prosessia tarkasteltiin J. Michael Gilletten teatterituotantoon tarkoitetun suunnittelu-ja ongemanratkaisumallin avulla.
Tekijä toimi opinnäytetyö-ja työharjoittelujakson aikana skenografi Marie Antikaisen assistenttina ja puvustusprosessin havainnoijana Frida Kahlo -näytelmässä. Tekijä suunnitteli näytelmän tanssikohtauksiin viidelle tanssijalle puvut. Havainnoinnin lisäksi opinnäytetyöhön haastateltiin koko näytelmän puvustuksen suunnitellutta skenografi Marie Antikaista sekä puvustonhoitaja Pirkko Jokelaa, joilta saatiin arvokasta tietoa siitä, miten näytelmän puvustus syntyi tällaiseen taidepainotteiseen näytelmään.
Havainnointiaineistoa hankittiin näytelmään ensisijaisesti näytelmän käsikirjoituksesta, elokuvasta, elämäkerroista, pukuhistoriasta, ajankuvasta sekä näytelmän harjoituksista, kyselemällä ja kuuntelemalla ohjaajaa ja muita teatteriproduktion työntekijöitä.
Opinnäytetyön tuloksena syntyi raportti, jossa opittiin käytännössä soveltamaan J. Michael Gilletten ongelmanratkaisumallia. Raportissa sovellettiin myös muita esille tuotuja luovan prosessin työkaluja lopputuloksen saavuttamiseksi. The subject of the final thesis is clothing of the play of Frida Kahlo. The premiere was played in spring 2016. The clothing design process was considerd by the method of J.Michael Gillette, which is meant to be theatre production workers. The final thesis and training were connected to the same process.
During the training period the author worked as an assistant and observer in the play of Frida Kahlo. The author had also designed a dancing costume for five people in the Frida Kahlo play’s dancing scene. The whole play’s costumes designer, scenographer and costumier Marie Antikainen and also wardrobekeeper Pirkko Jokela were interviewed for this work. They gave important information on how to create this kind of costumes and how they choose these clothes to this kind of oriented play.
The observation material was collected this play from the place in plays script, movies, biography, the history of fashion, the plays scenes, asking and listenig to the director and other theatre production members.
As a result of final thesis is this report where I learned in practice to apply J. Michael Gillette’s method. I used in the report also other creative methods
