    Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is the non-linear version of Kalman filter and the said filter is usually used in nonlinear state estimation. In this study EKF is applied to process the image features of a single camera mounted on the end effector of a robot. Data generated by the EKF then is to be processed to obtain the motion parameters. Simulation of visual servo control system was built with the aim to examine the use of the EKF as a pose estimator. The simulation results using Matlab show that the EKF is able to well estimate the robot pose

    The popularity of public transportation has increased as infrastructures have been repaired and other supporting facilities have been added. One of the facilities which can be added in the transportation system is the implementation of Near Field Communication in order to accelerate each transaction in the transportation system. In airports, transaction activities need to be done efficiently, like claiming baggage at the baggage carousel. The speed of transaction to claim the baggage depends on the number of officers, passengers, and the amount of baggage brought by the passengers. In the conventional system, the most effective way of getting the maximum speed of transaction is to have officers as many as the number of passengers, but this is not efficient regarding the use of human resources.     Developing Adaptive Cruise Control Based on Fuzzy Logic Using Hardware Simulation

    Ride comfort on the highway often interrupted because drivers need to adjust the vehicle speed. Safe distance between vehicles should be maintained is the main reason. The situation of monotonous and high speed will increase the risk of accidents on highway. A device is required by the driver to adjust the vehicle speed during the long distance (cruise) driving on highway without neglecting the safety aspects. The device is known as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). The ACC is a subsystem of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADASs) that serves to assist the driver during cruise driving. The working principle of the ACC is the vehicle speed set automatically so that the distance to the vehicle in front remains safe. This paper presents the development of fuzzy logic controller for ACC. The fuzzy inference method used in this study is Mamdani. Through special applications the data can also be added, subtracted, or modified. This NFC capability allows the phone to be developed into a device that can store important data such as e-money or electronic medical records.     Development of an elevator simulator to support problem-based electric motor control practicum for vocational high school student

    Workers who can control electric motors are currently needed. Therefore, knowledge about controlling electric motors should be taught in vocational high schools. Installation and control of electric motors in the industry are generally used in various devices related to the production process such as controlling the motor driving conveyor belts, controlling pumps on factory pipes, and controlling freight elevators. The problem that arises is the lack of knowledge about electric motor control in vocational school teachers and insufficient facilities for the learning process of electric motor control. Also, Vocational High School (SMK) has not been able to change the old learning patterns to the new learning patterns required in the 2013 curriculum. One of the changes in the curriculum is a change from teacher-centered learning to student-centered learning. In this service program, learning the installation and control of electric motors in the simulator of elevators was developed using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach for students of SMKN 1 Cipatat. The first step in implementing this program is to study the curriculum and syllabus applied to the two partner vocational schools, then design a learning process for the installation and control of electric motors using the PBL method. The PBL method was chosen because this method can simultaneously be used to increase students' soft skills such as the ability to innovate, discipline, and the ability to convey ideas both in writing and orally. Besides, the PBL method can also support changes to learning patterns as required in the 2013 curriculum.Workers who can control electric motors are currently needed.     Implementation of Project Based Learning in Mechatronic Lab Course at Bandung State Polytechnic

    Mechatronics is a multidisciplinary that includes a combination of mechanics, electronics, control systems, and computer science. The main objective of mechatronics learning is to establish a comprehensive mindset in the development of mechatronic systems. Project Based Learning (PBL) is an appropriate method for use in the learning process of mechatronic. The use of PBL by following the V model in  system development process is expected to encourage the achievement of the main goal of learning in mechatronics lab. Demonstration of knowledge during the practical work done by drafting product development procedures documents, presentations, and project demo. The test result of mechatronics lab course based on PBL in Electronics Engineering Bandung State Polytechnic led to the conclusion that the model is acceptable and desirable to be passed with a few improvements. In addition, learners also feel there is a new challenge in following the PBL-based practicum

    Airline ticket reservation using NFC-based single identity

    Airline ticket reservations can be completed via ticket counters or online. To reduce passenger data redundancy, Single Identity (SI) may be required to input passenger data. In Indonesia, SI is utilised in identity cards using Near Field Communication (NFC), called electronic Kartu Tanda Penduduk (eKTP). However, the use of e-KTP is not optimal yet because it is still used in the same way as the conventional one. Data input using SI can be done by tapping the e-KTP on a NFC-enabled machine, and the user is required to select the passengers’ names. The process of data input may be simplified, resulting in a higher transaction speed. This research result demonstrated that there was a slight difference of the time required between the two methods for ticket reservations. The time efficiency using SI through ticket counters was 48%, while the online reservation using SI was 45%. Further research may implement the validation methods, such as using PIN or fingerprint

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
