Conformational pseudo-polymorphism and hydrogen bonding: benzthiazide anhydrate and monohydrate, an antihypertensive drug
Crystal structures of benzthiazide [6-chloro-3-[[(phenylmethyl)thio]ethyl] 4H-1,2,4-benzthiadiazine-7-sulfonamide-1,1,dioxide] in its anhydrate and monohydrate forms reveal, respectively, a J-like folded as well as extended type conformations that have critical torsional flexibility along the C-C-S-C bonds and novel H-bonded sulfonamide motifs
"One God equally alive under any name" : Wanda Dynowska (Umadevi) and spirituality in translation between India and Poland
The paper discusses the translation work of Wanda Dynowska (Umadevi), a Polish translator, editor, publisher, journalist, poet, and educator, who devoted herself to bringing together the Polish and Indian cultures. A biographical sketch and an overview of the place of religious/spiritual writing in Dynowska’s output are followed by an analysis of her translation of Raihana Tyabji’s contemporary narrative of bhakti devotionalism: The Heart of a Gopi (1936). Drawing on the approach of ‘humanized’ translation history and translator studies, based on paratextual material and archival documents, Dynowska’s choice of this unusual piece of writing by a nominally Muslim female author is linked to similarities in the author’s and the translator’s biography and personality: un-orthodox religiousness, views on the role of women, and social position as educated female associates of Gandhi’s. Dynowska’s foreignizing translation, seemingly at odds with her self-proclaimed aim of popularizing knowledge about India among Poles, is also contextualized in light of her personal beliefs and circumstances: her idea of and relationship with Indian culture, and her independence, as a self-publishing translator, from editors, publishers or critics, who could otherwise influence her strategy

Comparative Analysis of Splunk vs. AWS Native Monitoring Tools for Cloud Security and Threat Detection
Cloud security monitoring remains critical and challenging for organizations as cyber threats have continued to evolve. While previous research by the author Ananthapadmanabhan and Achuthan (2022) explored threat detection using Splunk in cloud environments, there has been limited comparative analysis between the third-party security information and the event management (SIEM) solutions and native cloud monitoring tools. This research will address this gap by thoroughly comparing Splunk and AWS native monitoring tools, focusing on their effectiveness in threat detection and analysis. The experimental evaluation assessed both platforms across three key security scenarios: unauthorized login attempts, data exfiltration, and malware detection. The results demonstrate that while AWS native tools generally provided faster detection times, Splunk consistently achieved higher precision and recall rates. And For unauthorized login attempts, Splunk achieved 97% precision and 98% recall compared to AWS’s 94% precision and 95% recall, although AWS detected events marginally faster (6 seconds vs. 8 seconds). Similarly, in data exfiltration scenarios, Splunk showed superior accuracy with 95% precision and recall, outperforming AWS’s 89% precision and 90% recall, despite AWS’s quicker detection time (10 seconds vs. 13 seconds). We will see how these findings will provide valuable insights for organizations’ decisions about cloud security monitoring strategies. It also suggests how AWS native tools offer speed advantages, whereas Splunk delivers more comprehensive and accurate threat detection capabilities, helping organizations optimize their cloud security posture against emerging threats
Magnetic anisotropy studies in magnetostrictive Fe-Co thin films
Structural, magnetic and magnetostrictive behavior of Fe-Co thin films grown on Si substrates has been investigated. Structural studies indicated that the films are polycrystalline in nature with body centered cubic type structure. Magnetostriction was found to decrease with increase in film thicknesses. Magnetization studies exhibited predominant in-plane magnetic anisotropy for all the films. In addition to this, films grown with higher thicknesses also showed presence of out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy co-existing with in-plane magnetic components. This observation was further validated through magnetic microscopy studies. Presence of competing anisotropies has been found to be the reason for the decrease in the magnetostriction with change in film thicknesses
Assessment Of Natural Radioactivity Level And Radiation Hazard Parameters In The Terrestrial Environment Of Eloor Island, Kerala
The present study is aimed at measuring the concentration of primordial radionuclides in the soil samples of Eloor Island, an industrial area in Ernakulum District and evaluating the radiation exposure to the local population. The ambient radiation exposure rate was measured using portable scintillometer survey meter and the activity concentration of 232Th, 238U and 40K in the soil samples were analyzed using (5×4)” NaI(Tl) gamma spectrometer. The exposure rate measured using survey meter varied from 63 nGyh-1 to 374 nGyh-1. The activity concentration of 232Th, 238U and 40K in soil samples ranged from 44.8 Bq kg-1 to 792.8 Bqkg-1 for 232Th, 8 Bqkg-1 to 445.5 Bqkg-1 for 238U and 129 Bqkg-1 to 1160.5 Bqkg-1 for 40K. Hence the absorbed gamma dose and radiation hazard indices due to natural environmental radiation was done. The study showed no significant impact due to the NORM Industries in the Eloor Industrial region.</jats:p
