Architecture and Evolution of the Southern Chotts-Jeffara Basin, Tunisia

    No full text
Southern Tunisia is known to be less deformed and simpler than its neighboring Atlassic domain to the north. This area is complex and basin evolution in the Southern Chotts-Jeffara (SCJ) basin is debated. In this paper we combined surface and subsurface data with low temperature thermochronology (LTT) to reinvestigate the tectono-sedimentary evolution of the SCJ basin from Permian to Jurassic. We reconstruct the present-day architecture of the SCJ basin along two regional sections. In these sections, we focused mainly on regional thickness variations and on internal reflections interpreted from seismic data. We observe three structural elements: (a) A Paleozoic culmination, oriented E-W, capped by Mid-Upper Triassic deposits; (b) the Tebaga of Medenine (ToM), a culmination also oriented E-W but located ∼50 km north of the Paleozoic culmination; and (c) A Triassic culmination in the eastern part of the area, oriented NW-SE. We note the absence of major normal faults along the sections. The LTT data we present are the first published in this area and allow to reconstruct the timing and magnitude of vertical movements. These data prove: (a) exhumation at ∼230 Ma of the Permian and Lower Triassic units associated with the onset of the ToM removing locally about 900 m of pre-Cretaceous sediments; and (b) the development of the Triassic culmination ∼180 Ma removing 2000 m of pre-Cretaceous sediments in the Jebel Rehach. This study demonstrates that vertical movements in the SCJ basin are controlled by long-wavelength processes developed essentially in shortening regimes.Applied Geolog

    Filioque in ecumenical dialogue

    No full text
The author offers a comprehensive presentation of the history and results of the most important ecumenical dialogues on Filioque. The topic has been basically developed in two parts. In the first part, the author discusses the achievements of mutual dialogues directly referring to the researched matter. The dialogues meant here are the following: the dialogue between the Orthodox Christians, on the one hand, and Old Catholics, Anglicans, Roman Catholics, Lutherans and Reformed Christians, on the other hand. In the second part, the author pays attention to the results of multilateral dialogue, and, more precisely, to the documents of the World Council of Churches’ Commission on Faith and Order which touch upon these issues. It follows from the present analysis that in the course of the conducted dialogues consensus was achieved concerning the normative and catholic character of the 381 Nicene-Constantinopolitan Symbol. Besides, it was pointed out that the inclusion of Filioque in the Symbol of Faith was not canonical, and it was postulated that liturgy should come back to the original text of the Creed. Some differences of emphasis in understanding Filio- que were also noted, including those referring to theological evaluation of this addition. The reflection that was taken up indicates the necessity of continuing the dialogue on Filioque

Ordination of Women in the Documents of Theological Dialogues between the Churches

    No full text
In the article, the author has presented the positions of Churches and Church communities concerning priestly ordination of women which are included in the documents of theological dialogues between the Churches. The presentation has been divided into four parts. The first part is a general presentation of the dialogue texts in which references to women’s ordination can be found. The next part is a discussion of the arguments presented in the dialogue texts which underlay either rejection or acceptance of women’s ordination practice. The arguments of the opponents are the following: for the first, the continuous Tradition of the Church evidenced by the Holy Scripture, for the second, anthropology, for the third, liturgical symbolism, for the fourth, negative social and ecumenical implications of such a decision. The proponents point to the Holy Scripture and Tradition/tradition, God’s call, liturgical symbols, sufficient reasons missing to question this practice, and the necessity to consider the social and cultural transformations and the new needs of the Church. In the final part, the author points out the problems and difficulties in coming to terms the solving of which will have essential influence upon further dialogue on the issue. The problems mentioned in the dialogue documents concern interpretation of Biblical texts, understanding of Tradition/tradition, understanding of the Holy Spirit in the Church, relation to cultural and social determinants and the role and place of the investigated issue in the theological reflection of the parties in dialogue.W artykule ukazano stanowisko Kościołów i Wspólnot kościelnych na temat ordynowania kobiet do kapłaństwa, zawarte w dokumentach międzykościelnych dialogów teologicznych. Odnotowane w dokumentach dialogowych problemy dotyczą interpretacji tekstów biblijnych, rozumienia Tradycji/tradycji, pojmowania Ducha Świętego w Kościele, stosunku do uwarunkowań kulturowych i społecznych oraz roli i miejsca badanego tematu w refleksji teologicznej dialogujących stron

    La transformación del imaginario simbólico

    No full text
With the interdisciplinary theory of L. Rulla as a starting point, the author describes a psycho-spiritual itinerary in which a special attention is accorded to the symbolic images of the believing person. He concentrates on two extreme modalities that are at the origin of opposed ethic-spiritual attitudes: the “idolatric” and the “iconic”. In this respect, he shows how each life stage (youth, adulthood, maturity), begun and closed by a characteristic psycho-spiritual crisis, poses for a Christian challenges associated with the symbolization mode. Because of its relevance, he dwells on the midlife crisis, called to end in a paschal iconic experience.

PROFUNDIDADE E RECONHECIMENTO: DA COSMOVISÃO RELIGIOSA AO CUIDADO AMBIENTAL "Vision in-depth: from the religious cosmovision to the environement"

    No full text
AbstractConsidering the present “environmental question” and Ecology as a paradigm, Author ponders about the contribution of Religions on ecological issues. He remarks particularly the Religion’s vision in-depth on Universe and gratitude for Nature’s resources, understood as Creator’s gifts. The religious vision in-depth on Universe qualifies a specific epistemology of Nature, characterized by connection between the homo religiosus and Nature in general. The religious gratitude for Nature’s resources develops the “logic of gift” in the human conscience. In this way, Religions overcome a merely functional approach on Nature, promoting the environmental education in five topics: measurement of human condition, conscience of limit, gratitude, co-responsibility and justice

The Controversy over Primacy in the Orthodox Church. A Controversial Document of the Moscow Patriarchate Concerning Primacy in the Church

    No full text
The author of the article aims at presenting the essential contents of the document by the Holy Synod of the Russian Church on primacy in the Church, and the more important voices in the debate on the issue. The Russian text was written as an answer to the Ravenna document of the theological dialogue between the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Church (2007). The Moscow Patriarchate expressed their disaproval of the latter document where it touches upon conciliarity and primacy at the universal level. In their synodal document, the Moscow Patriarchate presents their own vision of primacy in the Church. They emphasize that primacy at the universal level – which belongs to the Constantinople capital today – by its nature, is exclusively ‘primacy of honour’ and not authority. It does not have its source in the person of the ‘prime hierach’, but in the consensus of local Orthodox Churches. The vision of primacy presented in the Russian document met with a sharp reaction of the representatives of the Constantinople Patriarchate. According to its critics, the Russian document presents a simplified version of primacy in the Church. While aiming at strenghthening her rank in the Orthodox Church, the Russian Church is questioning the competence of the Constantinople Patriarch. Thus, the presented document is part of the argument between Moscow and Constantinople about primacy in the Orthodox world.
