A caminho do mar: a experiência da modernidade na Bossa Nova
Full text linkTese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura, Florianópolis, 2014Tese de doutorado que almeja realizar uma compreensão da poética da Bossa Nova tomando como objeto de estudo algumas das principais canções deste movimento estético-musical, dando-se ênfase às teorias culturais de Walter Benjamin e de seus mediadores contemporâneos em torno do seu conceito de experiência. A hipótese central da pesquisa é entender o etos do sujeito lírico da Bossa Nova como indício de uma experiência em transição decorrente da modernização da vida e da cultura nacional de meados do século XX. Portanto, pretende-se entender a experiência da modernidade do etos da Bossa Nova em um campo de forças tensionado mutuamente pela transformação da experiência autêntica (a Erfahrung) e pela vivência do mundo moderno (a Erlebnis), cujo sujeito poético usufrui de uma singular sociabilidade praiana na Zona Sul do Rio de Janeiro, nos anos 1950 e o início da década de 1960, entre a intimidade dialógica da vida privada e a fruição contemplativa da paisagem à beira-mar: sua boemia solar.Abstract: Doctorate thesis that seeks to arrive at an understanding of the poetics of Bossa Nova taking as a subject of study some of the principal songs of this aesthetic-musical movement and placing emphasis on the cultural theories of Walter Benjamin and his contemporary mediators based on his concept of experience. The central hypothesis of this research is to understand the ethos of lyrical subject matter in Bossa Nova as indicative of a transitory experience of the modernisation of national life and culture in the mid-twentieth century. The intention, therefore, is to understand the experience of the modernity of the ethos of Bossa Nova within a field of forces mutually tensioned by the transformation of authentic experience (Erfahrung) and through the experience of the modern world (Erlebnis), the poetic subject of which explores a unique beach-orientated sociability characteristic of Rio de Janeiro's Zona Sul in the 1950s and at the beginning of the 1960s, which oscillates between the daily intimacy of private life and the contemplative enjoyment of the coastal landscape: its sun-kissed bohemia
A bossa é negra: reconstruindo a identidade racial da bossa nova
Full text linkDissertação apresentada ao Programa de Pós-Graduação Interdisciplinar em Estudos Latino-Americanos da Universidade Federal da Integração Latino-Americana, como requisito parcialà obtenção do título de Mestra em Estudos Latino-Americanos.Esta pesquisa propõe um olhar crítico sobre a construção da bossa nova como gênero musical moderno vinculado à elite branca carioca em detrimento dos músicos negros através da exclusão, entre eles Alaíde Costa e Johnny Alf. Através da análise de livros emblemáticos da bossa nova, fundamentado na discussão racial de intelectuais negros, podemos entender esta classificação de gênero musical moderno a partir do conceito de modernidade como uma ferramenta de distinção racial. Além disso, é desde a trajetória dos músicos Johnny Alf e Alaíde Costa que podemos contrapor como a história da bossa nova foi contada. Compreende-se que a criação musical de ambos músicos foi o que possibilitou a bossa nova surgir como gênero musical, pois muitos elementos foram apropriados de sua estética. The Benigni / Bossa Rulebase for Mutagenicity and Carcinogenicity - A Module of Toxtree
Full text linkThe Joint Resarch Centre's European Chemicals Bureau has developed a hazard estimation software called Toxtree, capable of making structure-based predictions for a number of toxicological endpoints. One of the modules developed as an extension to Toxtree is aimed at the prediction of carcinogenicity and mutagenicity. This module encodes the Benigni/Bossa rulebase for carcinogenicity and mutagenicity developed by Romualdo Benigni and Cecilia Bossa at the Istituto Superiore di Sanita�, in Rome, Italy. The module was coded by the Toxtree programmer, Ideaconsult Ltd, Bulgaria. In the Toxtree implementation of this rulebase, the processing of a query chemical gives rise to limited number of different outcomes, namely: a) no structural alerts for carcinogenicity are recognised; b) one or more structural alerts (SAs) are recognised for genotoxic or non-genotoxic carcinogenicity; c) SAs relative to aromatic amines or aß-unsaturated aldehydes are recognised, and the chemical goes through Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) analysis, which may result in a negative or positive outcome. If the query chemical belongs to the classes of aromatic amines or aß-unsaturated aldehydes, the appropriate QSAR is applied and provides a more refined assessment than the SAs, and should be given higher importance in a weight-of-evidence scheme. This report gives an introduction to currently available QSARs and SAs for carcinogenicity and mutagenicity, and provides details of the Benigni/Bossa rulebase.JRC.I.3 - Consumer products safety and qualit
