Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Get PDFThe article is devoted to the study of methods for modeling technological processes of building and construction. The relevance of research and development of methods for modeling technological processes in order to increase the efficiency of the use of construction technologies is emphasized. A review of existing methods for describing technological processes of building (structure) construction was conducted and the feasibility of researching and developing methods that take into account various structural and technological factors was substantiated. The basic principles of mathematical and physical modeling and the main technological parameters that constitute the object of research are presented. The features of theoretical and experimental research methods are considered. An analysis of existing methods for describing technological processes (graphs, cyclograms, communication graphs, etc.) was conducted, and their advantages and disadvantages were highlighted. A structural N-dimensional constructive and technological model of the building (structure) construction process is proposed, which combines constructive solutions of the building, engineering systems, and optimization of technological solutions in the general organizational structure of construction. Attention is focused on the fact that the choice of technological solutions in the context of the construction of a building (structure) is based on the understanding of the fact that it is necessary to consider the construction process as a complex model of the interaction of different types of systems, each of which has a set of parameters that change in time and space. In the proposed structural and technological model, the developed structural numerical 3D model of the building, engineering and geological, technological conditions and limitations, as well as conditions regarding engineering systems and communications serve as the initial data. Technological factors in the calculation model (process organization algorithm; human resources; mechanization tools; algorithm for dividing the work front into sections, areas, etc.) are presented in the form of n-dimensional matrices. The proposed structural scheme for constructing an N-dimensional model will allow taking into account the variable technological parameters of the building construction process, the search for optimal solutions, the integration of technological solutions into modern software, as well as the possibility of creating a basis for the use of robotic systems and complexes.Стаття присвячена дослідженню методів моделювання технологічних процесів зведення будівель і споруд. Підкреслено актуальність дослідження та розробки методів моделювання технологічних процесів з метою підвищення ефективності використання будівельних технологій. Проведено огляд існуючих методів описання технологічних процесів зведення будівель (споруд) та обґрунтовано доцільність дослідження та розробки методик, що враховують різноманітні конструктивно-технологічні чинники. Наведено основні принципи математичного та фізичного моделювання та основні технологічні параметри, що становлять об’єкт дослідження. Розглянуто особливості теоретико-експериментальних методів досліджень. Проведено аналіз існуючих методів описання технологічних процесів (графіки, циклограми, графи зв’язку та ін.), підкреслено їхні переваги та недоліки. Запропоновано структурну N – мірну конструктивно-технологічну модель процесу зведення будівлі (споруди), що поєднує конструктивні рішення будівлі, інженерних систем, оптимізацію технологічних рішень в загальній організаційній структурі будівництва. Акцентовано увагу на тому, що вибір технологічних рішень в умовах зведення будівлі (споруди) базується на розумінні того факту, що необхідно розглядати процес зведення як комплексну модель взаємодії різнотипних систем, кожна з яких має набір параметрів, що змінюються в часі і просторі. В запропонованій конструктивно-технологічній моделі в якості вихідних даних слугує розроблена конструктивна числова 3D модель будівлі, інженерно-геологічні, технологічні умови та обмеження а також умови стосовно інженерних систем та комунікацій. Технологічні чинники в розрахунковій моделі (алгоритм організації процесів; людський ресурс; засоби механізації; алгоритм поділу фронту робіт на захватки, ділянки та ін.) представлено у вигляді n-мірних матриць. Запропонована структурна схема побудови N – мірної моделі дозволить врахувати змінні технологічні параметри процесу зведення будівель, пошуку оптимальних рішень, інтеграції технологічних рішень в сучасне програмне забезпечення а також можливості створення підґрунтя для використання роботизованих систем та комплексів

No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
