Silêncio e (des)solução em Cartas a Posêidon de Cees Nooteboom
Get PDFDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura, Florianópolis, 2015.É a partir do abandono dos deuses em Cartas a Posêidon (2012), do escritor Cees Nooteboom, que a presente dissertação busca refletir sobre a criação de uma imagem poética do estatuto do homem nos dias atuais, cujo enfoque reside nas inúmeras descontinuidades e rupturas presentes no texto de escritor neerlandês. Através da Carta sobre o humanismo, de Martin Heidegger, e Regras para o parque humano, de Peter Sloterdijk, o trabalho propõe uma breve discussão sobre a epístola enquanto ferramenta humanista e, no caso de Nooteboom, a sua inabilidade em fazer amigos, resultado da disrupção do dialogismo pelo insistente silêncio divino. Utilizando-se do conceito de Stimmung e os estudos de Leo Spitzer e Hans Gumbrecht sobre o tema, a dissertação procura observar a criação de determinadas atmosferas ao longo do texto, cuja essência nega o significado original do termo Stimmung enquanto harmonia. Por intermédio do pensamento de Jean-Luc Nancy acerca do mito e a sua base atual como negação de sua fundação original, o trabalho busca pensar a inoperância da carta como espaço de proliferação da narrativa. Valendo-se de A Comunidade Inconfessável, de Maurice Blanchot, a formação da comunidade tem como base a sua própria ausência em um movimento contínuo aqui proposto como (des)solução. Por fim, através da contribuição de Susan Sontag em ?Estética do silêncio?, a dissertação propõe uma comparação dos fragmentos de Nooteboom com a pintura neerlandesa do século XVII, o Stilleven, e a sua natureza silente e imóvel que em Nooteboom culminam em tremor, ruído.Abstract : It is from the abandonment of the gods in Letters to Poseidon (2012), of the writer Cees Nooteboom, that this study tries to reflect on the creation of a poetic image of the status of man nowadays whose focus lies in the many discontinuities and breaks in the text the Dutch author. By Letter on Humanism, from Martin Heidegger, and Rules for the human zoo, by Peter Sloterdijk, the work proposes a brief discussion of the epistle as humanistic tool and, in the case of Nooteboom, its inability to make friends as a result of disruption of dialogism by the insistent divine silence. Using the concept of Stimmung and studies of Leo Spitzer and Hans Gumbrecht on the subject, the dissertation tries to observe the creation of specific atmospheres throughout the text, whose essence denies the original meaning of the term Stimmung as harmony. Through the thought of Jean-Luc Nancy about the myth and its current base as denial of its original foundation, the work aims to rethink the ineffectiveness of communication as the narrative space proliferation and the formation of a community, drawing on The Unavowable Community, from Maurice Blanchot, whose base lies in its very absence, in continuous motion proposed here as (dis)solution. Finally, through the contribution of Susan Sontag in "Aesthetics of Silence", the study proposes a comparison of Nooteboom fragments with the Dutch painting of the seventeenth century, Stilleven, and its silent and motionless nature that in Nooteboom culminates into tremor, noise
Livros ilustrados: textos e imagens
Get PDFDissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Literatura, Florianópolis, 2014.O objetivo desta dissertação é investigar o lugar que ocupam as ilustrações na produção atual de livros para crianças e jovens no que diz respeito ao seu papel narrativo dentro da obra e, principalmente, no que oferecem ao olhar sensível como possibilidade de leitura da imagem. Para tanto, analisarei as relações entre texto escrito e ilustração em livros editados no Brasil na atualidade, principalmente a partir dos anos 2000, atendo-me às ilustrações enquanto busco esclarecer questões poéticas, adensamentos e complexidades. A fim de refletir alguns aspectos referentes à literatura aliada às ilustrações, essa análise se dá a partir de três perspectivas diferentes. Primeiramente, considero a ilustração como elemento que amplia o texto e que se adapta a distintos contextos culturais, correntes estéticas ou ideologias, de acordo com a visão do artista que a executa. Em segundo lugar, aprofundo a noção de que a ilustração faz mais do que representar visualmente o texto escrito, considerando-a como elemento que transforma o texto original quando organizado nas páginas do livro. Para concluir, proponho que, além de ampliar e/ou transformar o texto, a ilustração pode ser vista como elemento polissêmico, gerador de imagens críticas que tocam a realidade sem, no entanto, se predispor a retratá-la de forma única, fechada e estanque. Quando falamos em imagem, tendemos a pensar em representações pictóricas, nas artes visuais, pintura, escultura, cinema. Mas também a literatura, e seus textos permeados de metáforas, sinédoques e metonímias, é imagem. É essa a noção que norteia este trabalho. Considerando que a ilustração ocupa formas diversas dentro de uma obra, busco entender como se dá a interação entre texto escrito e texto visual num livro. Esta dissertação de mestrado constitui uma tentativa de explorar essas questões que dizem respeito às imagens formadas pela combinação de palavra e ilustração num livro; constitui também uma reflexão acerca de distintas formas de publicação literária em que as ilustrações se relacionam com o texto escrito de maneiras diferentes. É, finalmente, uma tentativa de definir aquilo que alguns autores têm chamado de livro ilustrado contemporâneo. A análise do corpus revela que as ilustrações agem no interior da obra, recriam imagens. Ocupam, portanto, lugar de criação, abrindo frestas na própria linguagem para ampliar as possibilidades de leitura e a percepção do mundo.Abstract : This dissertation aims to understand the narrative role played by illustrations in contemporary Brazilian children's literature and, most importantly, what they offer as image reading possibilities to the critical and aesthetic reader. To achieve that, I analyze the relationships between written text and illustrations in books recently edited in Brazil, particularly those published since 2000. The word image is often associated with pictorial representations in the visual arts, however, children's literature, with its reliance on metaphors, sinedoques, and metonymies, is permeated with images. Firstly, I consider illustrations as elements that amplify the text, according to the artist's point of view. Secondly, I explore the notion that illustrations do more than visually represent the written text, by considering them as separate elements that transform the original text when both are jointly organized on the pages of a book. Finally, I propose the idea that besides amplifying and/or transforming the written text, illustrations can be considered as polysemic elements that generate critical images that "touch reality," although not intending to portray it in a closed, stagnant manner. The analysis of the selected works reveals that illustrations act from within the body of the work, recreating images. Therefore they occupy a creative space, as they open gaps in language to amplify the possibilities of interpreting reading and world perception
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
