Oral History Interview with Boyd R. Murphy, July 13, 2012
The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Boyd R. Murphy. Murphy joined the Army in August, 1942, in Indiana. He eventually attended Officer Candidate School and received a commission in April, 1943. Murphy eventually qualified for flight training and went to Pine Bluff, Arkansas and then Lubbock, Texas. When he earned his wings, he then learned to fly B-24 bombers. Murphy shipped out in early 1945 and reported to Clark Field in the Philippines. He flew one combat mission before the war ended and then was sent to Japan during the occupation

Murphy, Ludmilla - Oral History Interview
Ludmilla Ksensenko (Luda) Murphy B’60, ’61 earned a degree in economics from the University of Connecticut, and upon graduating, won a full fellowship to study at SAIS undertaking her first year at the Bologna Center and her second year in Washington, D.C. After SAIS, Murphy devoted her career to the U.S. Department of Labor where she was an economist. She later conducted seminars for senior policy makers from around the world, particularly in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. After retiring from the government, Murphy was a consultant in the Ukraine for Financial Markets International, working with Ukrainian officials to develop labor market information programs. Murphy also served as an international observer in Ukraine's parliamentary elections. Her story would not be complete, however, without her meeting Dick Murphy, her husband, while at SAIS, and of all places, in the Library

Daniel Murphy, U.S. Army Air Corps: Stalag Luft I, Germany, World War II
Oral history interview with Daniel Murphy of the the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Murphy was shot down over Germany on his 54th mission with the Ninth Air Force on 23 March 1945. He was captured by the German Army and imprisoned at Stalag Luft 1 near Barth, Germany. He was liberated by the Russian Army in May 1945.
Daniel B. Murphy was born in Ada, Minnesota, on 16 November 1921. He worked as both a teacher and farmer in Felton, Minnesota. He died on 12 January 2017 in Fargo, North Dakota
