Fuzzy Based Landsman Converter For Pumping Application
No full textFuzzy controlled landsman converter employed for pumping application is presented here. Landsman converter(LC) is designed using voltage multiplier cell which makes the converter from reduced switching voltages. The controller is designed with Fuzzy logic to derive constant voltage output irrespective of variation of input of the converter. The input to the converter is fed from solar panel(250W). The DC output voltage of converter is fed to the electrical machine to run for different pumping applications. The design of controller and converter is analyzed using MATLAB
The Role of Supporting Examinations on the Diagnosis of Chronic Diarrhea in Children
No full textBackground: Etiology of chronic diarrhea can be established through non-invasive examination such as stool examination and stool culture. Colonoscopy is an invasive Method, which is occasionally needed to discover the etiology of chronic diarrhea. Objective: To recognize the characteristics of chronic diarrhea based on stool examination and colonoscopy results. Methods: Descriptive study on patients with chronic diarrhea who came to Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital since 1 June to 31 August 2005. Laboratory tests were conducted in accordance with clinical indication. Data was presented in distribution tables. Results: There were 41 patients with chronic diarrhea. Stool examination were performed only in 38 patients with negative-gram infection (86.8%). Stool cultures were performed in 27 patients with positive results of non-pathogenic Escherichia coli (85.2%). Stool parasite examination and concentration tests were performed in 17 patients, with 47.0% positive results as follow: Microsporidia 29.4%, Blastocystis hominis 11.8% and Giardia lamblia 5.9%. Colonoscopy examinations were performed in 6 patients and all patients indicated ulcerative colitis appearance with 50% histopathological impression of infective colitis. Conclusion: Stool examination in chronic diarrhea primarily indicates positive infection. Bacterial stool culture mostly includes non-pathogenic Escherichia coli, while parasite stool examination largely includes Microsporidia. Biopsy examination tends to reveal infective colitis
Safety, Immunogenicity, and Transmissibility of Single-Dose Live Oral Cholera Vaccine Strain CVD l03-HgR in 24- to 59-Month-Old Indonesian Children
No full textRecombinant A-B+ Vibrio cholerae O1 strain CVD 103-HgR is a safe, highly immunogenic, single-dose live oral vaccine in adults in industrialized countries, Safety, excretion, immunogenicity, vaccine transmissibility, and environmental introduction ofCVD 103-HgR were investigated among 24- to 59-month-old children in Jakarta. In 81 households, 1 child was randomly allocated a single dose of vaccine (5 x 109 cfu) and another, placebo. Additionally, 139 unpaired children were randomly allocated vaccine or placebo. During 9 days of follow-up, diarrhea or vomiting did not occur more often among vaccinees than controls. Vaccine was minimally excreted and was isolated from no controls and from 1 (0.6%) of 177 unvaccinated family contacts. A 4-fold or higher rise in serum vibriocidal antibody was observed in 75% of vaccinees (10-fold rise in geometric mean titer over baseline). Of 135 paired placebo recipients or household contacts, 5 had vibriocidal seroconversions. Moore swabs placed in sewers and latrines near 97 households failed to detect vaccine.
