    No full text
This paper explores the design principles for an adaptive cyanosis colour changing baby manikin by assembling all previous pieces of knowledge of cyanosis baby manikin. We attained the cyanosis colouration in an experimental setup during the previous study using a three-dimensional (3D) printed baby’s head in a black box with the Philips Hue bulb as an actuator. This paper’s motivation is to develop a working prototype of an adaptive cyanosis baby manikin, which aims to change colour from cyanosis to non-cyanosis with the real colouration, within the correct timing to be used for cyanosis recognition in medical training application. To attain this goal, we introduce the design and development of adaptive cyanosis colour changing baby manikin by employing smart lighting control, together with the Philips Hue LED bulb attached to the 3D printed baby’s head. In this paper, the cyanosis colour changing in a 3D printed baby’s head was simulated by controlling the Philips Hue bulb using the Processing software and IoT-based mechanism. The LDRs were embedded into the adaptive cyanosis baby manikin by monitoring the lux values of the room’s lighting condition. The colour change of the cyanosis can be visualised and verified both on the 3D printed baby’s head and in the trainer’s laptop in Processing software. We believe that the proposed adaptive cyanosis baby manikin will pave the way for a future practical cyanosis simulator to be used in real training.</p

This paper investigate the occurrence of cyanosis’s blue colouration in newborn babies with the focused on a detailed version of the oxyhaemoglobin’s (HbO2) and deoxyhaemoglobin’s (Hb) transmission and reflectance spectrum in the vessel. A quantitative analysis of cyanosis colour is based on the cyanotic skin observer model. The proposed method formed a basis work of colour changes to implement in the future cyanosis baby manikin for baby simulation. A series of transfer functions described by the relationship of the light propagation in human skin. Results showed that the colouration of HbO2 is less saturated compared to Hb and its depends on the HbO2’s and Hb’s reflectance spectrum in the blood. Meaning that, the correct International Commission on Illumination (CIE)L ∗ a ∗b ∗ colour values of cyanosis in real newborn babies will be quantified and later to be implemented in a baby manikin. Despite of non-experimental methodology implemented, it is based on putting together knowledge from literature. In particular, the database of the absorbance spectra of HbO2 and Hb and the three-cone pigments with different absorption spectra of the colour receptors in the human retina. The results of newborn’s cyanosis colour was obtained and determined both in a two-dimensional International Commission on Illumination (CIE) 1931 xy and a three-dimensional CIE L ∗ a ∗b ∗

Cyanosis is a blue coloration around the mouth and lips. Since cyanosis is a symptom of a potentially serious and life-threatening disease as heart failure, an early, fast, and accurate recognition of cyanosis coloration is crucial. Cyanosis recognition in a newborn baby is quite challenging as color is perceived subjectively among new medical trainees. Cyanosis color can be influenced by lighting conditions, colored objects around the baby, visual perception, and the eyes condition of the observer. Hence, this project aims to develop the IoT based cyanosis detection device for newborn assessment in medical training application that aims to detect and evaluate correct cyanosis color values. The proposed system is a combination of hardware and software development and has been integrated with IoT applications for data monitoring and analysis. The feedback from the user is gathered to get their expectations and design requirements. The next design solution is prototype construction which is based on the user’s preferences from the conducted market survey. For conclusion, the color error, comparison of color swatch between the actual and measured color, and the status of the data whether cyanosis or non-cyanosis was analyzed using the developed cyanosis device
