Strategies for learner-generated comic production in classroom: a comparative analysis
Essentially, comics are one of the most significant medium in transmedia storytelling for education. The purpose of this paper is to examine recent strategies used by teachers and instructors in implementing learner-generated comics in classroom. Hence, the definition and evolution of comics is enlightened, followed up by how comics demystified diverse educational benefits by playing roles as cognitive and affective tool. Then, educational comics characteristics and the concept learner generated comics are discussed. Next, a comparative analysis is conducted on the educational practices in learner-generated comic production. The analysis is based on brief descriptions and disadvantages on the learner-generated comic techniques applied in classroom setting. Factors contributing to inefficient management and maintenance of waqf properties: a literature review
Fundamentally, an effective management of properties has been established as a healthy way of increasing the value and benefits of real estate. The sources of awqaf (waqf) are quite rich. However, the issues of the sustainability of valuable waqf properties have not yet been explored especially with regards to sustaining and enhancing the value through sound principles of property management. Thus, this paper presents a literature review concerning the factors contributing to inefficient management and maintenance of waqf properties globally with a particular focus on Malaysia. From the findings, they have five factors identified that consist ofinsufficient fund, lack of best performance by waqf manager, unregistered of waqf land under SIRC, out-dated data and confiscation of ownership rights by heirs from SIRC. Yet, due to the lack of study in the area of the maintenance function of waqf properties, it strongly suggested that there is a need to fill the gap in the body of knowledge of which bothmanagement and maintenance function (operational management) shall take into account in waqf management practice as well. This is very important to achieve sustainability of valuable waqf properties by providing a continuous stream of income through effective and efficient of the waqf management system
Learner-generated comic (lgc): a production model
Recent advancement of authoring tools has fostered widespread interest towards using comics as a Digital Storytelling medium. This technology integrated learning approach is known as Learner-Generated Comic (LGC) production; where learners' knowledge and ideas on various subjects are synthesized in a form of digital
educational comic. Despite the prior evidences for the didactic values of LGC production, most scholars do not emphasise on a quality, theoretically supported, and strategic LGC production methodology that accommodate to interrelated key elements and production methods of LGC. As a result, there is a tendency to view LGC production as challenging and impractical. Essentially, there is a lack of conceptual models and methods that comprehensively tailor the crucial theories, elements, techniques, technological, and systematic processes of LGC production. Within this context, this study attempts to propose LGC production model that serves as systematic approach which includes the fundamental components for learners to produce digital educational comics. Therefore, in order to accomplish the main aim, a number of sub objectives are formed: (1) to determine the core components for LGC production model, (2) to construct a systematic LGC production model based on the identified components, (3) to evaluate the proposed LGC production model, and (4) to assess the LGC products developed by the proposed model users. This study adopts the Design Science Research methodology as the framework of the research process. Activities of LGC production model construction include literature review and comparative study, expert consultation, and user participation. The proposed model is evaluated through user experience testing and expert review. Results from hypothesis testing concludes that the
proposed LGC production model is significantly perceived as having quality in serving as a guideline for learners to design and develop digital educational comics. It was also found that the proposed model has been well-accepted by local and international experts. In addition, assessment of LGC products developed from the user experience testing has implicated there are significance differences between
LGC products developed by the proposed model users and non-users. In conclusion, adoption of a systematic, scholarly grounded, and authenticated LGC production model can contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Digital Storytelling session that enhance learning experience through LGC design and
development
Digital storytelling tool for education: An analysis of comic authoring environments
The adoption of interactive digital storytelling environments for learner-generated comics development has been established by prior researchers.As a powerful visual storytelling medium, the literature on comics in education often emphasizes on their affective and cognitive benefits.However, there have been a deficiency of studies that evaluates existing digital comic authoring tools for achieving defined learning goals.Therefore, this paper aims to outline the dimension of several digital comic authoring systems based on Dimension Star reference model. Five digital comic authoring tools are analyzed which are Bitstrips, Comic Life, Pixton, MakeBeliefComix, and Cambridge University Comic Builder.By categorizing comic authoring tool components using the criteria defined by the digital storytelling environment evaluation framework, this paper’s findings provide options and opportunities for educators in selecting appropriate interactive digital storytelling application to facilitate learner-generated comic projects

A Revised Production Model of Learner-Generated Comic: Validation through Expert Review
Recent advancement of authoring tools has fostered a widespread interest towards using comics as a Digital Storytelling medium. This technology integrated learning approach is known as learner-generated comic production; where learners constructively produce digital stories in a form of educational comics. However, there were concerns towards the obstacles and challenges of producing learner-generated comics. Hence, a conceptual production model of learner-generated comic was proposed to guide learners in designing and developing digital educational comics. Accordingly, as the decision making stage for validating the proposed model, expert review method was adopted. Results of expert review were coded and classified into flexibility, understandability, completeness, generality, and usability aspects, aligning with dimension of conceptual model characteristics. Consequently, a final appraisal cycle with experts was conducted to approve the revised and redesigned LGC production model based on expert review. In summary, the experts concluded that the proposed model replicates the process of learner-generated comic production very well, visually and descriptively.
