Pemikiran Anti-Kolonialisme Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi / Ariff Aizuddin Azlan
Parliamentary behaviour of the opposition Pakatan Rakyat in Malaysian politics, 2008-2012 / Ariff Aizuddin Azlan
This study examines the patterns of parliamentary behaviour of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) political parties in the Twelfth Parliament. The study is based upon two significance arguments: first, the opposition Pakatan Rakyat political parties (PAS, PKR, and DAP) for the first time collectively work as a single political force in the Twelfth Parliament; and second, the patterns of behaviour would likely trigger some responses and constraints from the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government and at the same time would consolidate the oppositional coalition politically. The 2008 Malaysia‟s general election was held under very pressurized circumstances. Unfortunately, the election result indicated that the ruling BN was no longer politically durable and thus provided a new political vacuum for the opposition PR to emerge as part of national political alternatives. This is a qualitative study and therefore it will adopt the approach of “content analysis” as a research technique. The data were collected from primary sources such as parliamentary debates (Hansards), government official documents, party‟s publications, interviews, and newspapers. As the secondary sources, books and articles were used. By using Shane Martin‟s Framework of Parliamentary and Legislative Behaviour, the study reveals that there are several PR patterns of behaviour evident in the 12th Parliament. These main and sub-patterns were manifested in the form of parliamentary struggle and were perceived as a counter-measure to the policies of the ruling BN government. Besides that, the study found that the parliamentary constraints encountered by PR have led towards the consolidation of patterns of behaviour in the Twelfth Parliament. Finally, this study concluded that the parliamentary behaviour of Pakatan Rakyat has strengthened, empowered and consolidated the practice of oppositional parliamentary democracy and the emergence of the newly coined-term known as the “New Parliamentary Behaviour (NPB)”

The 2011 Sarawak state elections: an analysis of the performance of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component parties (PKR, PAS, DAP)
This study examines the performance of Pakatan Rakyat (PR) component political par-ties (i.e. PKR, PAS and DAP) in the 2011 Sarawak state elections. The 2011 Sarawak state elections was held in April 2011 and it was a tense battle between the ruling BN and the new comer opposition Pakatan Rakyat. The book is based on the assumption that there is a linkage between PR’s campaign strategies and election manifesto and the voters’ preference. Therefore, the study investigates the linkage between campaign strategies and manifesto of Pakatan Rakyat and its performance in the 2011 Sarawak State elections. This book uses qualitative method of research for analysis of data. The data were collected from the primary sources such as formal and informal interviews, party manifestos, newspapers, documents from the Election Commission (EC) and sec-ondary sources such as books and scholarly articles. The book argues that the opposi-tion for the first time collectively campaigned as a single opposition coalition under the name of Pakatan Rakyat. The book found that even though PR did not get the two-thirds majority in the State Legislative Assembly, it succeeded to capture more seats; pointing to the fact that there is a shift of support from the incumbent BN government towards the opposition PR. However, the book also found that the main factor contributing to PR’s inability to capture more seats was its inability to reach an understanding with the local opposition political party: Sarawak National Party (SNAP)
Attlee and Bevin’s Perspectives on the Formation of the United Nations in 1945
The Labour Party came to power in July 1945. Atlee, the Prime Minister, well-known for his internationalist outlook within the Labour Party in the interwar years, considered that it was timely to make the United Nations more powerful in international politics if peace and security were to be preserved. He was committed to the internationalist view that the presence of world government was necessary in the management of the new international order between states in peacetime. Thus, he had no hesitation in committing Britain to this new direction in its foreign policy. To Atlee, all states, including the world power, were not only base their policy on the United Nations, but also to subordinate themselves to the United Nations as the world’s highest authority. Nevertheless, his Foreign Secretary, Ernest Bevin, shared none of these assumptions. He instead, shared the political view that Britain should pursue and uphold its standing as a Great Power. He continued to hold his nationalist and imperialist views in peacetime, even though it was in conflict with the internationalist view of his own Prime Minister
Modernism and Postmodernism in Feminism: A Conceptual Study on the Developments of its Definition, Waves and School of Thought
This study seeks to identify the relations of modernism and postmodernism in feminism by looking deeply on the development of its definitions, waves of feminism and framework in its specific schools of thought; liberal, classical Marxist, socialist and radical feminism. By adapting qualitative descriptive study, this study covers mainly secondary data from English language sources, be it from books, academic articles or any literatures pertaining to this topic, which obtained from various databases. This study argues that modernism and postmodernism is the worldviews that become the essence of feminism. By looking at the variations of how feminism is studied, e.g. definitions, waves and school of thought, this study concluded that there are several points indicating the relations that exist between modernism and postmodernism with feminism. Modernism can be seen in the relational approach of the liberal, classical Marxist and socialist feminism in the first wave, which are more centered on education, politics and economic participation. Meanwhile, the relation of postmodernism to feminism is exampled in the deconstructing approach of the radical feminism that began from the second wave shown in their individualist views on sex, sexuality, motherhood, childbirth, and language institution. By identifying modernism and postmodernism as the essence of feminism, it can provide a thorough understanding on how it relates to the construction and development of feminism itself. Besides that, it also delineates pathway and limitation especially in providing critiques to feminism. Moreover, it also helps to provide a new paradigm in looking at the feminism based on its essences that surpasses traditional dimensions of feminism studies that usually separate feminism discourse into specific variations.

The 2014 Teluk Intan Parliamentary By-Election in Malaysia
Democracy, by definition, is fit to be perceived as the equality of political right. The 2014 Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election contributed towards improving the indicator of democracy. This by-election also witnessed a direct contest between GERAKAN, one of BN component parties, and DAP, a member of the opposition PR coalitions. This paper analyses that this by-election had posed serious formidable challenges for both competing parties. It also looks at the campaign strategies and issues during the ongoing campaign sessions. The result, however, did not reflect the expectations held by the DAP, as it thought that it could maintain the present status quo. The study concluded that, instead of achieving electoral victory, DAP was caught in its internal unexpected crisis, irrespective of the PR coalition members, and, thus, failed to retain its former seat within the context of parliamentary democracy
