Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textAbstract Lubâb al-Hadîts, creation of Imam Jalâl al-Dîn al-Suyûthî is a secondary book that contains 400 hadîtss. But in this book the author did not explain about the quality of the sand and matn of the hadîts overall. The issues that will be studied in this paper are hadîtss about the virtues of marriage at chapter twenty-five. The hadîtss have been frequently used by the public as evidence, especially at wedding moments. The writer concludes that only three of seven hadîtss on the importance of marriage in the book of Lubâb al-Hadîts have sands. They are also mentioned in the Ibn Majah’s book and Ahmad bin Hanbal’s book. The sand of first and second hadîts is dla’if and the third hadîts is shahîh lighairih. The matns of all hadîts are shahîh and those hadîtss can be hujjah because they relate to fadlâ’il al-aÊ»mâl. Lubâb al-Hadits, karya Imam Jalâluddin al-Suyûthî, adalah buku hadis sekunder yang berisi 400 hadîts. Dalam buku ini, penulis tidak menjelaskan kualitas sanad dan matan hadis secara keseluruhan. Masalah-masalah yang akan dikaji dalam tulisan ini difokuskan pada hadis tentang keutamaan pernikahan yang bab dua puluh lima. Hadis-hadis tersebut telah sering digunakan oleh masyarakat sebagai dalil, terutama dalam momen pernikahan. Penulis menyimpulkan bahwa hanya tiga dari tujuh hadis tentang pentingnya pernikahan dalam kitab tersebut memiliki sanad. Hadis-hadis tersebut juga disebutkan dalam kitab Ibn Mâjah dan Ahmad bin Hanbal. Sanad pertama dan kedua hadis adalah dlaʻîf dan sanad hadits ketiga adalah shahîh lighayrih. The support of Susan’s traits to rose larkin’s character development described in Janet lunn’s the root cellar

This study analyzes the character development of Rose Larkin, the main character in The Root Cellar by Janet Lunn. It focuses on how her development is influenced by her interactions with a supporting character, Susan. The research also explores Susan’s traits that contribute to Rose’s transformation. The problems addressed in this study are: 1) What are Rose's character before meeting Susan depicted in Janet Lunn's The Root Cellar? 2)What character traits of Susan play a role in changing Rose's character in Janet Lunn's The Root Cellar? 3) How does Rose Larkin's character develop after she meets Susan as depicted in the novel? The data of this research are obtained from the dialog, words and actions of Rose and Susan in Janet Lunn's The Root Cellar using reading and note-taking techniques. To achieve the research objectives, the author uses literary criticism in analyzing the novel. Then, the author uses an objective approach and the theory of character development by M. H Abrams. The results of this study show three findings in answering the problem of the study. The first is Rose's character before meeting Susan. The second is Susan's traits that support Rose's character change, namely sincere, honest, calm and patient. The third is Rose's character development after meeting Susan. This study is expected to contribute to literary studies, particularly in understanding the role of character interactions in shaping the development of the main character in a literary work.

يهدف البحث إلى تحليل تطور الشخصية الرئيسية في رواية بعنوان ”The Root Cellar“ للكاتبة جانيت لون. وقد أُجريَ هذا البحثُ لتحليلِ تطوّرِ الشخصيةِ الرئيسيةِ بدعمٍ من تفاعلاتها مع الشخصياتِ الثانوية. كما يهدفُ إلى معرفةِ كيفيةِ تصويرِ شخصية روز لاركن – البطلة – في الروايةِ من حيثُ تطوّرها، إلى جانبِ صفاتِ سوزان – الشخصيةِ الثانوية – التي ساهمت في هذا التطوّر. وتتجلّى إشكاليةُ البحثِ في الأسئلةِ التالية:1). كيف صُوِّرت شخصيةُ روز قبلَ لقائِها بسوزان في رواية The Root Cellar؟ 2). ما الصفاتُ التي تميّز بها سوزان وأسهمتْ في تغييرِ شخصيةِ روز في الرواية؟3). كيف تطوّرت شخصيةُ روز لاركن بعد لقائِها بسوزان كما وردَ في الرواية؟ وقد استُخرجتْ بياناتُ البحثِ من الحواراتِ والألفاظِ والأفعالِ التي صدرتْ عن روز وسوزان في الرواية، باستخدامِ تقنيةِ القراءةِ والتدوين. ولتحقيقِ أهدافِ البحث، استعانَ الباحثُ بالنقدِ الأدبي في تحليلِ الرواية، معتمدًا على المنهجِ الموضوعي، ونظريةِ تطوّرِ الشخصياتِ M.H. Abrams.وقد توصّلَ البحثُ إلى ثلاثِ نتائجَ تُجيب عن الإشكالية:أولًا: شخصية روز قبلَ لقائِها بسوزان، حيثُ صنّفها الباحثُ إلى أربعِ صفاتٍ، وهي: الانطواءُ وانعدامُ الثقةِ بالنفس، التكبّرُ والأنانية، فقدانُ الهوية، والاستسلامُ بسهولة.ثانيًا: صفاتُ سوزان التي ساعدت في تغييرِ شخصية روز، وهي: الإخلاص، والصدق، والهدوء، والصبر.ثالثًا: تطوّرُ شخصية روز بعدَ لقاءِ سوزان.ويُؤمَل أن يُسهمَ هذا البحثُ في إثراءِ الدراساتِ الأدبية، لا سيّما في فهمِ دورِ التفاعلِ بين الشخصياتِ في بناءِ التغيّرِ في الشخصيةِ الرئيسيةِ داخلَ العملِ الأدبي.

Penelitian ini menganalisis perkembangan karakter Rose Larkin, tokoh utama dalam novel The Root Cellar karya Janet Lunn. Fokus penelitian ini adalah bagaimana perkembangan karakter Rose dipengaruhi oleh interaksinya dengan tokoh pendukung, Susan. Penelitian ini juga mengeksplorasi sifat-sifat Susan yang berperan dalam mendukung perubahan karakter Rose. Adapun rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah: 1) Bagaimana karakter Rose sebelum bertemu dengan Susan digambarkan dalam novel The Root Cellar karya Janet Lunn? 2) Apa saja sifat-sifat Susan yang berperan dalam mengubah karakter Rose dalam novel The Root Cellar karya Janet Lunn? 3) Bagaimana perkembangan karakter Rose Larkin setelah ia bertemu dengan Susan yang digambarkan dalam novel? Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari dialog, kata-kata dan tindakan Rose dan Susan dalam novel The Root Cellar dengan menggunakan teknik baca dan catat. Untuk mencapai tujuan penelitian tersebut, penulis menggunakan kritik sastra dalam menganalisis novel tersebut. Kemudian, penulis menggunakan pendekatan objektif dan teori pengembangan karakter oleh M. H Abrams. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan tiga temuan dalam yang menjawab rumusan masalah. Pertama, karakter Rose sebelum bertemu dengan Susan. Peneliti mengkategorikan karakter Rose ke dalam empat poin, yaitu tertutup dan tidak percaya diri, sombong dan egois, tidak memiliki identitas, dan mudah menyerah. Kedua adalah sifat Susan yang mendukung perubahan karakter Rose, yaitu tulus, jujur, tenang, dan sabar. Ketiga adalah perkembangan karakter Rose setelah bertemu dengan Susan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi kajian sastra, khususnya dalam memahami peran interaksi antartokoh dalam membentuk perubahan karakter utama dalam karya sastra

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Currently, there are many massage service providers in Sidoarjo that offer various facilities and benefits. This creates a problem for massage service users who do not all know the massage techniques used and the service opening hours, especially massage service users who live outside the area. Through this, the author provides a solution to solve the problems that these users have. This research produces a web-based GIS that contains information on massage places in Sidoarjo. The research methods used include problem analysis, system design, database and interface design and implementation. Based on the results of two testing procedures carried out, namely black box testing and user testing, it can be seen that this application can function properly and produce a score of 89.65% with a very good score for user testing
