No full textDalam usaha mengiktiraf sumbangan gemilang para pensyarah yang telah mencurahkan bakti dalam bidang penyelidikan, perundingan, penerbitan, inovasi, pengkomersilan, jaringan industri masyarakat dan alumni, dan keusahawanan, Seksyen Perundingan dan Inovasi, Pejabat Penyelidikan, Jaringan Industri, Masyarakat dan Alumni (PJIM&A), UiTM Cawangan Negeri Sembilan telah menganjurkan Majlis Anugerah Apresiasi Rektor 2023/2024 UiTM Cawangan Negeri Sembilan yang berlangsung di Dewan Biduanda, UiTM Kampus Rembau pada 10 Oktober 2024. Majlis yang penuh bermakna ini telah disempurnakan oleh Rektor UiTM Cawangan Negeri Sembilan, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Yamin Yasin bersama Pengurusan Tertinggi UiTM Cawangan Negeri Sembilan. Rektor dalam ucapannya menyatakan bahawa kejayaan sesebuah universiti bukan sahaja bergantung kepada infrastruktur dan pelajarnya, tetapi juga pada kekuatan intelektual, inovasi dan dedikasi tenaga akademiknya. Beberapa anugerah telah diberikan kepada pensyarah yang telah menunjukkan kecemerlangan serta memberi impak besar kepada universiti dan masyarakat. Anugerah yang disampaikan terbahagi kepada lima kategori, iaitu Penulisan dan Penerbitan, Penyelidikan dan Perundingan, Inovasi dan Pengkomersilan, Jaringan Industri Masyarakat dan Alumni, dan Keusahawanan. Antioxidant capacity and antimicrobial activity of selected aromatic Malaysian herbs and their effects on the storage stability of mechanically deboned chicken meat sausage / Nurain Aziman
Full text linkMechanically deboned chicken meat (MDCM) is widely used due to the lower price however it is very susceptible to oxidative rancidity and microbial growth. Hence, this study was conducted to produce a quality MDCM sausage with added nutritional values by diversify the usage of six aromatic Malaysian herbs; Persicaria hydropiper (L.) H. Gross, Citrus hystrix DC, Murraya koenigii Spreng., Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M. Sm., Cymbopogon citratus Stapf and Kaempferia galanga L. as functional food ingredients. Spectrophotometric method and RP-HPLC were used to identify and determine phenolic acid and flavonoid compounds of aromatic Malaysian herbs. DPPH radical scavenging, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), β-carotene bleaching and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) assays were used to determine antioxidant capacity, and the antimicrobial activity was determined using disc diffusion assay. An optimum formulation of MDCM sausage incorporated with selected aromatic Malaysian herbs was obtained using a mixture design (Design Expert 8.0.1) software. The synergistic effect of these herbs on the storage stability of MDCM sausage was also determined throughout the nine months of frozen storage (-18°C), and was compared with the formulation without any incorporation herb (control) and formulation incorporated with BHA/BHT combination. Results showed gallic acid, (-)-epicatechin and myricetin were the major bioactive compounds detected in six aromatic Malaysian herbs

No full textDalam era digital yang semakin mencabar dan pantas berkembang, Seksyen Perundingan dan Inovasi Pejabat Penyelidikan, Jaringan Industri, Masyarakat dan Alumni (PJIM&A), UiTM Cawangan Negeri Sembilan sekali lagi telah berjaya menganjurkan pertandingan inovasi secara dalam talian untuk kali ketiga iaitu NEGERI SEMBILAN INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION (NSIEx) 2024. Program ini merupakan sebuah platform berskala antarabangsa yang menghimpunkan institusi pendidikan awam dan swasta (IPTA/IPTA serta pelajar-pelajar sekolah), sektor industri, dan agensi kerajaan dari dalam dan luar negara untuk mempamerkan idea serta ciptaan baharu secara maya. Program yang berlangsung secara atas talian dari 1 Jun 2024 hingga 10 Oktober 2024 telah menarik penyertaan sebanyak 353 kumpulan dan 159 kumpulan daripadanya adalah penyertaan dari sekolah rendah, menengah serta kolej vokasional. Dengan bertemakan "Nurturing Creativity Through Research, Technology & Social Innovation" peserta diminta membentangkan idea serta projek inovatif mereka secara dalam talian melalui penghantaran abstract (untuk pelajar sekolah) dan extended abstract (selain pelajar sekolah) serta video pembentangan. Pertandingan ini terbahagi kepada tiga kategori iaitu Junior Inventor (pelajar sekolah), Young Inventor (pelajar universiti, kolej, matrikulasi dan politeknik) dan Professional Inventor (pensyarah, penyelidik dan pengamal industri). Penilaian telah dijalankan sepenuhnya secara atas talian oleh panel penilai yang terdiri daripada ahli akademik, pakar industri dan wakil agensi inovasi negara. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Full text linkWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
