Experimental method to quantify the efficiency of the first two operational stages of nanosecond dielectric barrier discharge plasma actuators
A method to quantify the efficiency of the first two operational stages of a nanosecond dielectric barrier discharge (ns-DBD) plasma actuator is proposed. The method is based on the independent measurements of the energy of electrical pulses and the useful part of the energy which heats up the gas in the discharge region. Energy input is calculated via a back current shunt technique as the difference between the energy given and the energy reflected back. The ratio of the difference of the latter two quantities and the energy input gives the electrical efficiency (η E) of a ns-DBD. The extent of the energy deposited is estimated via Schlieren visualizations and infrared thermography measurements. Then, the ideal power flux obtained if all the inputted energy was converted into heat is calculated. Transient surface temperature was measured via infrared thermography and used to solve a 1D inverse heat transfer problem in a direction normal to the surface. It gives as output the actual power flux. The estimated ratio between the two power fluxes represents a quantification of the mechanical fluid efficiency (η FM) of a ns-DBD plasma actuator. Results show an inverse proportionality between η E, and η FM, and the thickness of the barrier. The efficiency of the first two operational stages of a ns-DBD is further defined as η = η E centerdot η FM

Quality in turning of Inconel X-750 superalloy
This study has been conducted to analyse the effects of turning the Inconel X-750 superalloy, which is a member of a nickel-based superalloy family that is frequently preferred in the aerospace and nuclear energy industries in particular, under minimum quantity lubrication (MQL), cryogenic liquid nitrogen (LN2 ) and carbon dioxide gas (CO2) cooling/lubrication conditions, with different cutting speeds (V-c = 65, 95, 125 and 155 m/min) and constant feed rate (f=0.1 mm/revolution) and cutting depth (a =0.5 mm) parameters, on the processability of Inconel X-750, hence on the surface integrity. In this context, the results obtained from the tests have been comparatively examined through surface roughness, tool wear and chip formation. Comparison results show that the cryogenic carbon dioxide method has generally provided the best surface roughness and tool wear values. The MQL method has provided the best chip formation
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Permasalahan yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini, yaitu: (1) bagaimanakah
pemilihan aspek bunyi bahasa (asonansi dan aliterasi) dalam novel Sirah karya
AY. Suharyana? (2) bagaimanakah diksi atau pilihan kata dalam novel Sirah
karya AY. Suharyana? (3) bagaimanakah pemakaian gaya bahasa yang terdapat
dalam novel Sirah karya AY. Suharyana?
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan pemilihan aspek
bunyi bahasa (asonansi dan aliterasi) dalam novel Sirah karya AY. Suharyana. (2)
mendeskripsikan diksi atau pilihan kata yang terdapat dalam novel Sirah karya
AY. Suharyana. (3) mendeskripsikan gaya bahasa yang terdapat dalam novel
Sirah karya AY. Suharyana.
Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif
kualitatif. Adapun data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data tulis yang
berupa kalimat-kalimat yang di dalamnya terdapat aspek bunyi, diksi, dan gaya
bahasa. Sedangkan sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Sirah karya
AY. Suharyana. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik simak, wawancara
mendalam, dan teknik catat. Penyimakan difokuskan pada wacana yang di
dalamnya pemakaian bahasa (dipandang dari segi bunyi, kata, kalimat), setelah itu
dilakukan pencatatan pada kartu data, penyeleksian, pengklasifikasian sesuai
permasalahan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah metode padan. Adapun
teknik yang digunakan dalam metode padan adalah teknik dasar pilah unsur
penentu dengan daya pilah referensial digunakan untuk menganalisis aspek bunyi,
diksi atau pilihan kata, dan gaya bahasa.
Berdasarkan analisis ini dapat disimpulkan beberapa hal, yaitu: (1)
pemanfaatan atau pemilihan bunyi-bunyi bahasa yang dipergunakan dalam novel
Sirah karya AY. Suharyana ditemukan adanya asonansi atau purwakanthi swara
‘persamaan bunyi vokal dengan suku terbuka dan suku tertutup bunyi /at, ep, on,
ah, ar, at, ot, ik, dan em/. Aliterasi atau purwakanthi sastra ‘persamaan bunyi
konsonan’ yang digunakan dalam novel Sirah karya AY. Suharyana adalah bunyi
konsonan /p/, /s/, /g/, /k/, /t/, dan /b/; (2) diksi atau pilihan kata dalam novel Sirah
karya AY. Suharyana, yaitu digunakannya (a) kosakata bahasa Indonesia, (b)
kosakata bahasa asing, (c) tembung-tembung saroja, yaitu dua kata yang sama
atau hampir sama digunakan bersama-sama (d) kata-kata sapaan, (e) kata-kata
seru, (f) kata-kata bermakna kasar, (g) sinonim, dan (h) ungkapan; (3) pemakaian
gaya bahasa yang terdapat dalam novel Sirah karya AY. Suharyana adalah (a)
simile, (b) metafora, (c) metonimia, (d) litotes, (e) hiperbola, (f) personifikasi, (g)
