Energetska varnost v času krize: študiji primera Bolgarije in Srbije
This thesis aims to assess the EU’s external energy policy and to what degree it has been embraced by small states during the energy crisis by posing the question, “How does European Union membership influence the external energy policy decisions of small states within the foreign policy dimension during energy security crises?”. To answer this, the research is taking Bulgaria and Serbia as case studies due to their similar population sizes, GDP, and energy consumptions. This research conceptualizes energy security and energy diplomacy to understand how diplomacy and energy dependencies are interrelated and how this relationship can be utilised as a tool in international relations. Through supporting the qualitative work on foreign policy analysis with the quantitative analysis of the energy industry structures and energy dependencies of Serbia and Bulgaria in a comparative manner, this research is conducting mixed research on the issue. The comparison of Bulgaria and Serbia enables the author to analyse and understand the role of EU membership
Investigation of Factors That May Affect the Commitment of Healthcare Professionals to Their Works During the COVID-19 Pandemic Period
The environment of uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic period has caused difficulties especially for healthcare professionals in their work activities. The purpose of this research is to find out which variables might affect the commitment of healthcare professionals to their works during this COVID-19 period. Based on the data announced by the Ministry of Health during the pandemic in the first quarter of 2021, it was decided to conduct a research on doctors, nurses, caregivers, and medical secretaries working in hospitals in the cities of the Eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey which generally show high risk. In the developed research model, satisfactory conditions (SC), emotional commitment to change (ECC), and psychological ownership (PO) as variables that may directly or indirectly affect the commitment of healthcare professionals to their works (CW) were used. The Smart PLS program was used in the analysis of the research model and hypothesis. It was seen that the ECC of healthcare professionals has a positive and significant (.694; p .086). Looking at the indirect (intermediary) effects obtained as a result of the research, it was seen that all of the hypotheses consist of positive coefficients. This situation reveals that the mediating variables have complementary effects on the obtained results. © The Author(s) 2022.WOS:00078698580000

A reading of Thoreau's walking as a travel narrative
Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão. Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras/Inglês e Literatura Correspondente. This thesis analyzes Henry David Thoreau's essay "Walking," first published after his death in 1862, with respect to the history of the United States and European travel accounts in Imperial times. Attentive reader of European nature writers and explorers, Thoreau was recalled by poets and literature writers, and also became celebrated by the field of environmental studies, being referred as founder of ecology. Thoreau's walks in wilderness, accounted in "Walking," contradict and at the same time endorse the means through which the United States people were running west at the time: he frequently goes in the same direction, but shows no hurry to get at any place, and calmly searches for what is "holy" along the path. Thoreau's emphatic discourse against private property confronts the main United State's principles, while the author creates his figure as a hero of the individual rebelliousness, a defendant of his own way to walk. Like in other travel accounts where the narrator finds himself in an uncivilized space, the "I," who is the hero of the narrative, sees his western horizon as empty of culture, a place to be founded, this time, upon a new mythology grounded on nature. "Walking" is read here as a transcendental manifesto about movement and perception that is much related to the history of its composition and to its readings since then.
Experimentation and analysis of powder injection molded Ti10Nb10Zr alloy: a promising candidate for electrochemical and biomedical application
This paper describes the microstructural, mechanical and corrosion properties of injection molded Ti10Nb10Zr alloys. T10Nb10Zr powder was injection molded with wax-based binder. The critical powder loading for injection molding was 55 vol% for feedstock. Binder debinding was performed in solvent and thermal method. After debinding the samples were sintered at different temperatures and times in vacuum atmosphere (10-5 mbar) to obtain fully dense parts. Metallographic studies were conducted to determine the extent of densification and the corresponding microstructural changes. The electrochemical property and biocompatibility of the sintered samples were performed electrochemically, by selfbody -fluid immersion tests and cell culture experiments. The results show that Ti10Nb10Zr alloys could be sintered to a maximum 99% of theoretical density. Maximum ultimate tensile strength, elongation and hardness obtained were 748 MPa, 14.3 and 114 HRB respectively at 1500 degrees C for 3 h. Additionally, the sintered i10Nb10Zr alloys exhibited high mechanical and corrosion properties in a physiological environment. (C) 2019 The Author. Published by Elsevier B.V
Experiments with non-uniform sediment in case of bed-load transport
An experimental study was carried out in the framework of a research project concerning the development of a mathematical model for morphological computations in rivers in case of non-uniform sediment. The study consists of a series of laboratory experiments in a straight flume under steady, uniform (equilibrium) conditions with a restriction to bed-load transport and dune regime. The flume was fed upstream by different mixtures of two very narrow sieved size fractions. During one experiment the total amount and composition of the input mixture, the water discharge and the downstream water level were kept constant. When equilibrium was reached besides regular registrations of water and bed level the dunes were extensively sampled. The latter occurred in such a way that vertical probability distributions of the size fractions could be determined. The main results of the experiments are: (i) Vertical sorting of the size fractions occurred in all experiments: at the steep lee side of the dunes the coarse size fraction is generally deposited at a lower level than the fine size fraction. Differences in volume concentration per size fraction until 30% occur between upper and lower layers. (ii) A transition layer was found which is generally below the propagating dunes; it has a relatively coarse composition (vertical sorting:) and has a thickness of 0.1 - 0.5 H (H = average dune height). Exchange of size fractions between this layer and the upper bed layer occurs at a time scale much larger than the dune period. (iii) Because of the phenomena described above several assumptions in a mathematical model for non-uniform sediment (Ribberink, 1980) concerning the transport layer and the deposition/erosion of size fractions to/from non-moving bed are generally not fulfilled. (iv) Data are obtained for the verification and development of semi empirical components in the mathematical model (i.e. transportformula per size fraction, predictors for dune height and bed roughness). The theory of Egiazaroff (1965) concerning the critical bed shear stress per size fraction seems to be useful in a bed-load formula per size fraction of the type of Meyer-Peter & Mueller (1948). (v) A bed sampling technique was developed and suggestions are made concerning the conditions of a non -equilibrium experiment which has the aim to verify the above-mentioned mathematical model for non-uniform sediment.Hydraulic EngineeringCivil Engineering and Geoscience
