Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Çağımızın en önemli becerilerinden olan yaratıcılık becerisinin çocuklarda geliştirilebilmesi için yaratıcılık öz yeterlik becerilerinin detaylı incelenmesi gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı ilkokul öğrencilerinin yaratıcılık öz yeterlik algısını incelemek ve öğrencilerin yaratıcılık öz yeterlik algısına etki eden unsurlar içerisinde anne, baba ve öğretmen tutumlarına ilişkin görüşlerini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışma karma yöntem desenlerinden açıklayıcı sıralı desen kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. İlkokul öğrencilerinin yaratıcılık öz yeterlik algısını belirleyebilmek amacıyla Amasya ili, Merzifon ilçesindeki devlet okullarında 3. ve 4. sınıfta öğrenim görmekte olan 320 ilkokul öğrencisine bu araştırmada kullanılmak üzere hazırlanan 'İlkokul Öğrencileri Yaratıcılık Öz Yeterlik Algısı Ölçeği' uygulanmıştır. Ölçeğe katılan öğrenciler arasından 34 öğrenci ile araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Örneklem belirlenirken karma yöntem örnekleme çeşitlerinden sıralı karma yöntem örneklemi kullanılarak örneklem belirlenmiştir. Görüşme yapılan öğrenciler amaca yönelik olarak seçilmiştir. İlkokul öğrencilerinin yaratıcılık öz yeterlik algıları, cinsiyet ve sınıf değişkenine göre incelenmiş, veriler SPSS paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Görüşmelerden elde edilen nitel veriler betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Yaratıcılık öz yeterlik algıları ölçeğinden elde edilen nicel verilerin analizi sonucu ilkokul öğrencilerinin yaratıcılık öz yeterlik algısının yüksek düzeyde olduğu, yaratıcılık öz yeterlik algısının cinsiyete göre kızların lehine farklılaştığı ancak sınıf değişkenine göre ise anlamlı bir farkın olmadığı sonucuna erişilmiştir. Görüşme formundan elde edilen bulgulara göre ilkokul öğrencilerinin akıcı, esnek ve orijinal düşünebilme becerilerine en fazla destek olanın öğretmenler olduğu; olumsuz anne baba ve öğretmen tutumlarının ise çocuğun yaratıcılık öz yeterlik algısına olumsuz yönde etki ettiği; ilkokul öğrencilerinin yaratıcılık öz yeterlik algısına anne, baba ve öğretmenlerin çoğunlukla olumlu yönde destek oldukları anlaşılmıştır.Creativity self-efficacy, a person's own belief to be creative, is very important for the success of individuals in their future life. Creativity self-efficacy skills should be examined in detail in order to develop creativity skills, which is one of the most important skills of our age especially for children. The aim of this study was to examine primary school students' perception of creativity self-efficacy and to reveal the opinions of students about the attitudes of parents and teachers among the factors affecting the creativity self-efficacy perception of the students. Explanatory sequential design, one of the mixed method designs, was used in study. 320 primary school students in the 3rd and 4th grades of public schools in Merzifon/Amasya province participated the study in order to determine creativity self-efficacy perception of primary school students. "Primary School Students' Creativity Self-Efficacy Scale", prepared to be used in this study, was applied to students. Interviews were conducted with 34 students among the students participating in scale, using a semi-structured interview form developed by researcher. While determining the sample, sequential mixed sampling method was used. The interviewed students were chosen for the purpose. While determining creativity self-efficacy perceptions of primary school students, they were examined according to gender and class variables, and data were analyzed using SPSS package program. The qualitative data obtained from interviews were analyzed using descriptive analysis method. As a result of analysis of quantitative data obtained from the creativity self-efficacy perceptions scale, it was concluded that creativity self-efficacy perception of primary school students was at a high level, the perception of creativity self-efficacy differed in favor of females according to gender, but there was no significant difference according to class variable. According to findings obtained from interview form, it was seen that teachers were the most supportive of primary school students' fluent, flexible and original thinking skills. It is noteworthy that negative parent and teacher attitudes affect the child's creativity self-efficacy perception negatively. It was understood that parents and teachers mostly supported creativity self-efficacy perception of primary school students in a positive way

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
