Powerful play: using educational toys in the Iqra' learning method for preschoolers / Asrol Hasan
Preschool education is one of the institutions which functions as a way to improve and further develop the understandings in all aspects of development for children aged 4 to 6 years old. Basic Qur'an education is one of the aspects which is included in the Islamic education curriculum, set up by the Malaysian Ministry of Education Curriculum Development Centre. Iqra' is one of the faster learning methods which has been used in Malaysia since 1995 and at one time was introduced at primary school stage for year one students. Now the Iqra' method is being used widely in most preschools in Malaysia, primarily by private preschools. The method of learning through playing is one the approaches which is given priority by the Malaysian Ministry ofEducation for use in· preschool education. The researcher believes that incorporating this approach with Iqra' method into topics such as basic knowledge of the Qur'an will not only enhance the learning process but also make it more enjoyable, hence increasing the students appreciation of the importance of the Qur'an and its benefits which is important for the children, as Muslims. At the age group of 4 to 6 years old, it is very difficult for these children to understand only by using books. Therefore there is a room for improvement in the methodology. An educational toys were designed based on the Iqra' method from Iqra' Book One. The Iqra' toy was tested and evaluated in two selected private preschools in the Klang Valley area. The purpose of this study was to find whether preschoolers between 4 to 6 years old gain a better understanding of basic Qur'an through Iqra' method if they are required to play with an educational toys rather than if they only attend the conventional Qur'an class. The test was conducted on 40 subjects, while 20 subjects were exposed to the conventional method. Three types of evaluation were used to evaluate these students which are: pre-test, post-test (summative) and a formative evaluation. The results of the tests showed that both experimental groups at two selected preschools showed an increase of 22.5% to 34% performance on the post-test, compared to the pre-test, after using the Iqra' Educational Toy as a learning aid. It was also found that the children aged 4 years old showed a better performance compared to children aged 5 years old. The teachers agreed that this method was 90% successful and it was more enjoyable than learning through books or by the conventional method they were used to. A ~ajor recommendation was that toys and this method can be used broadly on all types of preschools in Malaysia and that more research should be conducted on the method of learning through playing at higher levels, such as primary school, secondary school or University level. As an early recommendation, it is hoped that the Ministry of Education can integrate the method as a part of the preschool curriculum as one of the approaches that can be used primarily at government preschools. This research focused on two concepts of toys in general and it is hoped that in the future, this concept toy will become more interesting with the addition of technology like sound effects or graphic animations
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Analysis of heavy metal (cadmium) in commercially fish from different cultures / Mohamad Asrol Musanib
The research presents the heavy metal (cadmium) concentration in commercial edible fish from river cages, marine and pond cultures represented by Red tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus), Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta), and Catfish (Clarias Gariepinus). The analysis was done by using Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (GFAAS). The most contaminated fish among those three different cultures was marine fish culture which is Indian mackerel. This study also presents the effect of cooking method to the cadmium concentration from raw fish. Among the
cooking method (frying, grilling and boiling), the cooking method that reduce the cadmium concentration at most was boiling method. The effect of the digestion medium for the sample preparation was also analyzed where the highest content of cadmium in fish was showed from the acid medium
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Security system for housing area using Raspberry Pi and web hosting / Muhammad Asrol Saripan
Nowadays, those who are planning to perform Umrah will have to deal with a travel agent in order to do Umrah. Meanwhile, travel agent tend to provide packages for Umrah Pilgrims in which could not be necessary for those who are already been to Makkah or Madinah before. Besides, they also would face some difficulties in finding an authorized travel agent as they need to approach them for visa purpose. Other than that, it could be troublesome for them in finding each of the hotel and accommodation needed which requires them to look thoroughly throughout the internet. Therefore, the objective for this project is to design a platform which ease the Umrah pilgrims in searching their hotel and accommodation needed by them during Umrah. Other than that, this project have developed a mobile application that can help Umrah pilgrims in creating their own itinerary during their Umrah period. Other than that, an application that centralized all of the authorized travel agents has been develop to ease them throughout the process of visa application. This application is created using Android framework and can be used in an Android-based smartphone. Users are able to plan their own Umrah trip with ease with the guide from this application. Besides, users also able to manage their cost and time effectively by using this mobile application
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
