ORPHAN WELFARE PROGRAMS: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS USING IMAM SHAFIE'S FRAMEWORK AND TALFIQ
Full text linkThe objective of this study is to do a thorough investigation of orphan welfare initiatives within the framework of Islamic finance, jurisprudence, and ethics. This study aims to assess the compatibility of these programmes with Islamic principles by applying Imam Shafie's framework and the notion of Talfiq within its scope. The utilisation of a literature review approach is employed in order to examine and investigate pre-existing programmes, regulations, and academic perspectives, so establishing a comprehensive and strong basis for subsequent study. The findings demonstrate a complex terrain, shedding light on the merits and constraints of two methodologies, namely Imam Shafie's framework and Talfiq, while evaluating the ethical and legal adherence of programmes aimed at supporting orphan welfare. The study provides suggestions for achieving coherence across different frameworks, capitalising on their individual merits and improving the well-being of orphaned children while adhering to Islamic beliefs. In summary, this research makes a valuable contribution to the ongoing discourse surrounding the optimal provision of support for orphaned children, while simultaneously acknowledging the varying legal perspectives within Islamic jurisprudence. Consequently, it presents a potential avenue for further advancement and enrichment of initiatives aimed at promoting the well-being of orphans, not only within Muslim societies but also in a broader global context
MENTAFSIR KEKAYAAN BUMI: ANALISIS PERUNDANGAN ISLAM TERHADAP PENGEKSTRAKAN MINYAK DAN ETIKA ALAM SEKITAR
Full text linkKajian ini melihat kepada kesan moral dan alam sekitar terhadap pengeluaran minyak dalam kerangka perundangan Islam. Ia dilihat mengisi jurang penyelidikan dalam perbahasan akademik semasa. Latar belakang kajian adalah berdasarkan fakta bahawa dunia semakin bergantung kepada minyak. Hal ini seterusnya membawa kepada isu alam sekitar dan moral terutamanya dalam perspektif Islam. Penyataan masalah kajian ini adalah tentang bagaimana mengimbangi keuntungan ekonomi galian minyak dengan akhlak Islam dan pada masa yang sama menjaga bumi. Matlamat kajian ini adalah untuk melihat dan menjelaskan bagaimana hukum Islam memandang pengeluaran minyak seterusnya menyemak bagaimana ia sesuai dengan konsep akhlak Islam dan peraturan alam sekitar. Berdasarkan kaedah penyelidikan perpustakaan, kajian ini melihat dengan teliti beberapa karya perundangan Islam, kajian alam sekitar dan perbincangan etika untuk mendapatkan gambaran penuh. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa faktor-faktor seperti kebimbangan ekonomi, alam sekitar dan moral mempunyai interaksi yang rumit antara satu sama lain. Undang-undang Islam menyediakan peraturan terperinci yang menggalakkan perlindungan alam sekitar dan bertanggungjawab secara moral apabila mengekstrak minyak. Apabila menggunakan sumber asli, peraturan ini menekankan kepentingan keseimbangan dan menjadi garis panduan yang baik. Kajian ini mengatakan bahawa keadaan boleh menjadi lebih baik jika konsep akhlak Islam dimasukkan ke dalam undang-undang alam sekitar semasa dan amalan perniagaan yang melibatkan galian minyak. Hal ini seterusnya menggesa sarjana Islam, pakar alam sekitar dan orang yang mempunyai kepentingan dalam perniagaan minyak untuk bekerjasama demi mencari resolusi yang mesra alam dan baik dari segi moral untuk mendapatkan minyak
SELECTIVE BOYCOTT AS COLLECTIVE ACTION: A QUALITATIVE SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW ON SHARIAH LEGITIMACY AND LEGAL BOUNDARIES IN MALAYSIA
Full text linkSelective boycott has emerged as a prominent form of collective action among Muslim communities in Malaysia, particularly in response to geopolitical conflicts, ethical concerns and perceived moral responsibilities. Although boycott practices are commonly framed as expressions of moral protest, their selective application raises complex issues concerning Shariah legitimacy, social justice and legal boundaries. This study undertakes a qualitative systematic literature review based exclusively on library research and guided by the PRISMA framework in order to synthesise scholarly discussions on selective boycott from Shariah and legal perspectives within the Malaysian context. Drawing on Scopus-indexed literature, the review reveals recurring themes that conceptualise selective boycott as a form of collective moral action governed by specific ethical conditions under Shariah, highlight tensions between the pursuit of public interest and the risk of harm arising from selective enforcement and emphasise the relevance of legal boundaries under Malaysian law, particularly in relation to defamation, public order and the protection of individual rights. The findings demonstrate a notable gap between moral motivations and existing normative governance frameworks, underscoring the need for clearer Shariah-informed guidance and greater legal awareness in collective consumer activism. This study contributes to socio-legal and Islamic law scholarship by advancing a conceptual framework for selective boycott practices that are both Shariah-compliant and legally responsible within the Malaysian context
AKAD YANG DILAKSANAKAN DALAM APLIKASI FOODPANDA: SATU TINJAUAN

Aplikasi perdagangan elektronik sebagai contoh Foodpanda telah menjadi aplikasi utama yang digunakan oleh rakyat Malaysia dalam urusan perniagaan, transaksi malahan juga pekerjaan. Maka, berdasarkan kepada kepesatan teknologi yang terdapat pada aplikasi Foodpanda yang merupakan salah satu daripada bentuk perdagangan elektronik, maka akad-akad yang terkandung di dalamnya dilihat semakin kompleks. Agama Islam sendiri menitik beratkan akad yang sah dalam suatu transaksi. Hal ini semestinya bagi mengelakkan berlaku kezaliman atau mencari keuntungan dengan cara yang salah dalam suatu transaksi. Objektif kajian ini ialah untuk mengenal pasti akad yang dilaksanakan dalam penggunaan aplikasi Foodpanda ialah selaras dengan apa yang diperuntukkan oleh syarak. Selain itu, penulisan ini juga ialah untuk mengenalpasti peruntukan undang-undang yang berkaitan dengan aplikasi Foodpanda yang merupakan salah satu bentuk perdagangan elektronik. Tambahan lagi, penulisan ini juga bertujuan untuk mengenalpasti kes-kes yang berlaku berkaitan dengan perdagangan elektronik. Kajian ini menggunakan metodologi kajian perpustakaan untuk mendapatkan maklumat. Seterusnya, kajian ini dihasilkan menerusi analisis terhadap konsep akad-akad yang terdapat pada aplikasi Foodpanda, peruntukan undang-undang dan juga kes-kes yang berkaitan. Full text linkThis study explores the intricate connection between Zakat, in-game transactions and the related ethical issues in the realm of Islamic law specifically in the contemporary digital age. This study reassesses traditional religious commitments in response to the rising issues presented by the gaming industry. This study employs a dual methodological approach. First, it relies on intensive library research. This action serves as the basis for gathering a wide range of scholarly materials, historical texts and contemporary publications. This methodology guarantees a comprehensive comprehension of the established tenets of Islamic jurisprudence, their historical backdrop and their pertinence to contemporary matters. This study employs a comprehensive investigation guided by Islamic jurisprudence. The ethical framework devised by Imam Shafi'e, which prioritises factors such as purpose, benefit and the greater good is employed to evaluate the ethical ramifications of in-game transactions. This entails analysing the parallels between them and gambling as well as the possibility of manipulating players. The research also employs talfiq, a flexible approach that enables the harmonisation of different jurisprudential viewpoints. It is important to consider whether virtual assets should be included in Zakat calculations as this allows for a detailed and thorough examination. This study highlights the significance of well defined concepts in Islamic law and the advancement of financial literacy within the gaming community. Furthermore, it emphasises the necessity for ongoing academic dialogues in order to establish a connection between religious convictions and gaming behaviours. The primary objective of this research is to promote the concepts of Zakat while advocating for ethical gaming practises. Its objective is to ensure the continued relevance and efficacy of Islamic traditions in solving modern difficulties in the digital age. NAVIGATING HERESY AND MAQASID AL-SHARIAH: A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF RESPONSES TO SI HULK'S TEACHINGS IN MALAYSIA
Full text linkThis research examines the intersection of heresy and Maqasid al-Shariah in Malaysia, with a focus on the teachings of Si Hulk, a figure whose beliefs have been declared aberrant by religious authorities. Through the application of Imam Shafi'i's jurisprudential framework, this research seeks to examine exhaustively the theological, legal and sociocultural dimensions of heresy and its responses. The research utilises a literature review, comparative analysis and historical investigation to provide a comprehensive comprehension of heresy, its historical precedents, legal frameworks and sociocultural effects. The results demonstrate the complexities of addressing apostasy in a diverse and multi-religious society, highlighting the need for a balanced approach that includes dialogue, education and tolerance while preserving faith and societal cohesion. Based on these findings, the research provides policymakers, religious authorities and community leaders with recommendations for navigating the challenges posed by heresy, culminating in a comprehensive conclusion that emphasises the significance of upholding the principles of Maqasid al-Shariah while addressing heretical challenges within the unique Malaysian context
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
