Marionette mass-spring model for 3D gait biometrics
Though interest in gait biometrics continues to increase, there have as yet been few approaches which use model-based algorithms with temporal 3D data. In this paper we describe a new 3D model-based approach using a marionette and mass-spring model to gait biometrics with 3D voxel gait dataset. To model the articulated human body, we use a stick-figure which emulates the marionettes’ motion and joint structure. The stick-figure has 11 nodes representing the human joints of head, torso, and lower legs. Each node is linked with at least one other node by a spring. The voxel data points in the next frame have a role as attractor which able to generate forces for each node and then iteratively warp the model into the data. This process is repeated for successive frames for one gait period. The motion kinematics extracted from this tracking process are projected into the sagittal and the frontal plane and used as a gait feature via the discrete Fourier transform. We use 46 subjects where each subject has 4 sample sequences and report encouraging initial gait classification results
CORAK ESTETIKA PERTUNJUKAN WAYANG PESISIRAN SUBGAYA LASEMAN SAJIAN KI SIGID ARIYANTO LAKON SAMBA JUWING
Penelitian ini berjudul Corak Estetika Pertunjukan Wayang Pesisiran Subgaya Laseman Sajian Ki Sigid Ariyanto Lakon Samba Juwing. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap (1) Bagaimana struktur dramatik pertunjukan wayang pesisiran subgaya Laseman sajian Ki Sigid Ariyanto lakon Samba Juwing? dan (2) Bagaimana corak estetika pertunjukan wayang pesisiran subgaya Laseman Sajian Ki Sigid Ariyanto lakon Samba Juwing? Penelitian ini berjenis deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Observasi berupa pengamatan secara langsung pertunjukan wayang lakon Samba Juwing sajian Sigid Ariyanto di tempat dan pengamatan tidak langsung berupa rekaman audio visualnya. Wawancara dilakukan secara langsung dan tidak langsung dengan teknik wawancara semistruktur kepada data primer dan tidak terstruktur kepada data sekunder. Dokumentasi yang diperoleh berupa foto dan video. Adapun analisis struktur dramatik lakon Samba Juwing sajian Ki Sigid Ariyanto dikupas menggunakan teori struktur dramatik yang dikemukakan oleh Sumanto, sedangkan analisis corak estetika dikupas menggunakan teori Nuksma Mungguh yang dikemukakan oleh Sunardi. Hasil penelitian juga menguak tentang pertunjukan wayang gagrag Laseman yang di ambang kepunahan. Keunikannya dapat dicermati pada bentuk wayang, penggunaan wayang golek pada adegan pertama dan pamungkas, dan unsur garap pakelirannya. Pertunjukan wayang gagrag Laseman sajian Sigid Ariyanto tersusun dari sepuluh adegan, yaitu jejer Trajutresna, adegan Keputren Trajutresna, peperangan Watuaji melawan Gatutkaca, gara-gara, adegan Kahyangan Ekapratala, candhakan tengah marga, adegan Dwarawati, candhakan tengah marga, candhakan area Dwarawati, adegan pamungkas. Estetika pertunjukan wayang gagrag Laseman dapat diamati pada pencapaian nuksma dalam keberhasilan dalang memunculkan kesan rame, gayeng, lucu, gobyog, regu, greget, sedhih dan prenes pada suasana peristiwa/batin tokoh. Adapun mungguh dapat diindikasi melalui kesinergisan dan ketepatan unsur garap pakeliran (catur, sabet, dan karawitan pakeliran) dalam setiap rangkaian adegan. Adapun nuansa estetik kerakyatan gayeng dan gobyog dapat dirasakan pada bedhol kayon, jejer Trajutresna dan gara-gara. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga dilengkapi dengan implikasi terhadap adanya pertunjukan wayang lakon Samba Juwing sajian Sigid Ariyanto

Wawancara dilakukan secara langsung dan tidak langsung dengan teknik wawancara semistruktur kepada data primer dan tidak terstruktur kepada data sekunder. Dokumentasi yang diperoleh berupa foto dan video. Adapun analisis struktur dramatik lakon Samba Juwing sajian Ki Sigid Ariyanto dikupas menggunakan teori struktur dramatik yang dikemukakan oleh Sumanto, sedangkan analisis corak estetika dikupas menggunakan teori Nuksma Mungguh yang dikemukakan oleh Sunardi.
Hasil penelitian juga menguak tentang pertunjukan wayang gagrag Laseman yang di ambang kepunahan. Keunikannya dapat dicermati pada bentuk wayang, penggunaan wayang golek pada adegan pertama dan pamungkas, dan unsur garap pakelirannya. Pertunjukan wayang gagrag Laseman sajian Sigid Ariyanto tersusun dari sepuluh adegan, yaitu jejer Trajutresna, adegan Keputren Trajutresna, peperangan Watuaji melawan Gatutkaca, gara-gara, adegan Kahyangan Ekapratala, candhakan tengah marga, adegan Dwarawati, candhakan tengah marga, candhakan area Dwarawati, adegan pamungkas. Estetika pertunjukan wayang gagrag Laseman dapat diamati pada pencapaian nuksma dalam keberhasilan dalang memunculkan kesan rame, gayeng, lucu, gobyog, regu, greget, sedhih dan prenes pada suasana peristiwa/batin tokoh. Affordable Fabric-Based Portable Soft Exoskeleton for Hand Grasping Assistance in Daily Activity
Hand exoskeleton robots have been developed as rehabilitation robots and assistive devices. Based on the material used, they can be soft or right exoskeleton. Soft materials such as fabric can be used as a component of the wearable robot to increase comfortability. In this paper, we proposed an affordable soft hand exoskeleton based on fabric and motor-tendon actuation for hand flexion/extension motion assistance in daily activities. On-Off control and PI compensator were implemented to regulate the finger flexion and extension of the soft exoskeleton. The controllers were embedded into a microcontroller using Simulink software. The input signal command comes from the potentiometer and electromyography (EMG) sensor to drive the flexion/extension movement. Based on the experiments, the proposed controller successfully controlled the exoskeleton hand to facilitate a user in grasping various objects. The proposed soft hand exoskeleton is lightweight, comfortable, portable and affordable, making it easily manufactured using available hardware and open-source code. STRATEGI DAKWAH USTADZ MUKSIN ARIYANTO DALAM MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN AGAMA MELALUI PENGAJIAN AL-QUR'AN DI MASJID NURUL IMAN DESA BABAT LAMA KECAMATAN KIKIM TIMUR KABUPATEN LAHAT SUMSEL
ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini berjudul “Strategi Dakwah Ustadz Muksin Ariyanto Dalam Meningkatkan Pemahman Agama Melalui Pengajian Al-Qur’an di Masjid Nurul Iman Desa Babat Lama Kecamatan Kikim Timur Kabupaten Lahat Sumatera Selatan”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Strategi Dakwah yang digunakan oleh Ustadz Muksin Ariyanto serta untuk mengetahui faktor pendukung dan penghambat dakwah Ustadz Muksin Ariyanto pada jamaah pengajian al-Qur’an di Desa Babat Lama Kecamatan Kikim Timur Kabupaten Lahat Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian ini mengulas strategi dakwah yang digunakan Ustadz Muksin Ariyanto pada jamaah pengajian al-Qur’an di Masjid Nurul Iman Desa Babat Lama. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian lapangan (Field Research) yang bersifat deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan sumber data primer dan skunder. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini induktif. Untuk mengetahui strategi dakwah, peneliti menggunakan teori strategi dakwah Abu Al-Fath AlBayanuni yang meliputi startegi dakwah sentimental, startegi dakwah rasional, dan strategi dakwah indrawi. Hasil penelitian ini adalah Ustadz Muksin Ariyanto menggunakan strategi dakwah Manhaj al-Athifi (strategi sentimental) serta menggunakan startegi dakwah Manhaj al-‘Aql (strategi rasional) dalam melakukan kegiatan dakwah pada jamaah pengajian al-Qur’an di Masjid Nurul Iman Desa Babat Lama. Selain itu terdapat faktor pendukung dalam dakwah Ustadz Muksin Ariyanto berupa dukungan dari pihak pemerintah desa, tokoh agama, dan tokoh masyarakat dan banyak masyarakat yang senang dengan adanya pengajian yang dibina oleh Ustadz Muksin Ariyanto. Adapun faktor penghambat dalam dakwah Ustadz Muksin Ariyanto kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat dalam memahami dan mengamalkan ajaran agama Islam serta masih banyaknya pengaruh lingkungan disekitar terhadap aktivitas pengajian.

Model-based 3D gait biometrics
Gait biometrics has attracted increasing interest in the computer vision and machine learning communities because of its unique advantages for recognition at distance. However, there have as yet been few gait biometric approaches which use temporal three-dimensional (3D) data. Clearly, 3D gait data conveys more information than 2D gait data and it is also the natural representation of human gait as perceived by humans. The University of Southampton has created a multi-biometric tunnel using twelve cameras to capture multiple gait images and reconstruct them into 3D volumetric gait data. Some analyses have been done using this 3D dataset mainly to solve the view dependent problem using model-free silhouette-based approaches. This thesis explores the potential of model-based methods in an indoor 3D volumetric gait dataset and presents a novel human gait features extraction algorithm based on marionette and mass-spring principles.We have developed two different model-based approaches to extract human gait kinematics from 3D volumetric gait data. The first approach used a structural model of a human. This model contained four articulated cylinders and four joints with two degrees of rotational freedom at each joint to model the human lower legs. Human gait kinematic trajectories were extracted by fitting the gait model to the gait data. We proposed a simple yet effective model-fitting algorithm using a correlation filter and dynamic programming.To increase the fitting performance, we utilized a genetic algorithm on top of this structural model. The second approach was a novel 3D model-based approach using a marionette-based mass-spring model. To model the articulated human body, we used a stick-figure model which emulates marionette's motion and joint structure. The stick-figure model had eleven nodes representing the human joints of head, torso and lower legs. Each node was linked with at least one other node by spring. The voxel data in the next frame had a role as an attractor which able to generate forces for each node and then iteratively warp the model into the data. This process was repeated for successive frames.Our methods can extract both structural and dynamic gait features. Some of the extracted features were inherently unique to 3D gait data such as footprint angle and pelvis rotation. Analysis on a database of 46 subjects shows an encouraging correct classification rate up to 95.1% and suggests that model-based 3D gait analysis can contribute even more in gait biometrics

Human gait kinematics trajectories are then extracted by fitting the gait model into the gait data. At each frame we generate a correlation energy map between the gait model and the data. Dynamic programming is used to extract the gait kinematics trajectories by selecting the most likely path in the whole sequence. We are successfully able to extract both gait structural and dynamics features. Some of the features extracted here are inherently unique to 3D data. Analysis on a database of 46 subjects each with 4 sample sequences, shows an encouraging correct classification rate and suggests that 3D features can contribute even more
Gender Dominance Portrayed in Indonesian ELT Textbook for Junior High School Students
In general, people view a man and a woman differently. Crawford
(2004)states that women‟s occupations are associated with their gentle and other
feminine characteristics, while men‟s jobs are related to their strengths and
masculinities. Thus, there is stillexistence of gender inequality practices in
society. Due to this, the gender issue is still important to be examined, particularly
in English textbooks. Because when there is inequality representation between
man and woman in the textbook, then it will contribute to slow down the process
of establishing equality among people. To minimize the gender bias portrayed in
ELT textbook, the researcher sketches out the literature in analyzing gender
dominance in ELT textbook, such as gender equality and its practices in
Indonesia, and gender equality materials in ELT textbooks.
Gender equality does not mean that women and men should become the
same, but that women‟s and men‟s rights, responsibilities, and opportunities will
not depend on whether or not they are born male or female. When gender equality
exists, a society equally values men‟s and women‟s similarities and differences.
However, the practice of gender inequality in Indonesia is found in many sectors
according to The Global Gender Gap Report, 2014.Almost in all aspects of life,
women are not much better than men. Due to this, the textbook plays a leading
role in making a mental image of males and females in society (Greshuny, 1977;
Kobia, 2009). As textbooks play a crucial role as the main reference which
supports and influence the whole learning activities especially for the students,
then a balanced portrayal of gender in ELT textbooks should be improved.
The gender dominance was analyzed including female/male pictures,
female/male mentioned, female/male roles, female/male games, and female/male
role models (Longsdon, 1985).In this study, the content of the English textbook
was analyzed through the representation of the images which contain gender
dominance by using visual semiotic of Roland Barthes which contain two layers
(denotation and connotation).The textbook analyzed was entitled BahasaInggris
When English Rings the Bell SMP/MTs Kelas VIII. There were five steps of
procedure analysis, they were identification, code, analysis, interpret, and
discussion.
The result of analysis based on Longsdon (1985) aspects, the findings
reveal that the textbook male dominated in three aspects consisting of
female/male pictures, female/male mentioned, and female/male roles, while in the
aspect of female/male games there was balanced number representation and in the
aspect of female/male role model, the representation of female was outnumbered
of male. From the visual semiotic analysis, the result of analysis demonstrated that
in the textbook selected in this study represented where man had more
opportunities in almost all aspects discussed, however the portrayal of woman was
appeared as having opportunity such as higher education in some aspects
analyzed.
In short, the aims of schools textbooks should reduce portrayal of gender
bias in society and culture. This would demonstrate both men and women that are
competent and can be equally good if both are provided with equal opportunities.
Furthermore, the researcher hopes that this study will be useful as information for
English teachers, textbook author, and other textbook analysts who want to
analyze another different textbook particularly in Indonesia
