Signet ring carcinoma of ampulla of vater
Signet ring carcinoma is a common type of adenocarcinoma of stomach but its occurrence in ampulla of Vater is extremely rare. There are only a few previous reported cases of signet ring carcinoma of ampulla of Vater. Here we reported a 61-year-old woman with obstructive jaundice. Ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT scan) examination showed intra- and extrahepatic bile duct dilatation. Endoscopic examination with biopsies revealed a small-size mass in ampulla of Vater with diagnosis of signet ring carcinoma. On consequent pancreatoduodenectomy the tumor was diagnosed as T2N0M0, stage IB. Because of the specific site of signet ring carcinoma of ampulla of Vater, the tumor seems to present itself at an early stage of disease. We review in the literature to suggest our idea
Implementation of Epidemic Restrictions to Disrupt the COVID-19 Pandemic in Iran: A Mini-Review
The number of cases infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes COVID-19, has been steadily rising globally. Iran, one of the countries with a relatively high number of positive cases, has an inevitable role to play in controlling the pandemic by implementing effective policies and countermeasures to interrupt the viral transmission chain. Epidemic restrictions implemented following an Iranian presidential mandate were especially effective following the Nowruz holidays—the solar New Year celebration in the Persian-speaking culture. These restrictions started flattening the incidence curve of the epidemic in Iran two weeks after implementation, from 10 April 2020. Supplying sufficient face masks, disinfectants, sanitizers, and medical equipment to all government-run and non-for-profit hospitals were included in the presidential mandate. We believe that continuing this policy strictly will be required for further controlling the pandemic throughout the country.

Where should reading strategies be taught first: In Persian (L1), English (L2) or Arabic (L3)? / Seyed Hassan Talebi
This paper touches upon issues and trends in language transfer studies and reading research.
Then, a brief report of three separate published papers by the author on the transfer of reading
strategies from L1 to L2, L2 to L3 and L2 to L1 will be provided. In language transfer studies the
idea is that languages affect each other. But, from where is it logical to lay the stepping stones of
strategic reading if it is believed awareness of reading strategies transfer from one language to
another in a multilingual mind? It seems it is logical and cost effective to improve strategic
reading competence in L1 if it is shown that learners' skills and experiences in language
learning are cross-linguistically linked together
Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyetinin ithalat talebi fonksiyonunun sınır testi yaklaşımı ile eşbütünleşme analizi: 1978-2008

(2001)' ın önerdiği sınır testi (bounds test) yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada, 1978' den 2008'e kadar olan sınırlı bir dönemi kapsayan Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti yıllık verileri kullanılmıştır. Bu testin sonucunda, ithalat hacmi ile gelir ve nispi fiyatların eşbütünleşik oldukları görülmüştür. İthalat talebinin gelire göre tahmin edilen uzun dönem esnekliği 0.49, nispi fiyatlara göre esnekliği ise 0.17 olarak bulunmuştur. Roadmap to Stop the Predatory Journals: Author\'s Perspective
Recent disgracing reports are warning the scientific communities to think more about the solutions to win the battle against predatory journals and publishers. Current integrity and accuracy in science is a result of decades of honest works and publications which are an asset, now everyone as stakeholders of science should feel the responsibility to sustain its high privileged level. The ethical sides of this duty need careful considerations by science stakeholders worldwide. Boosting the weak resume, getting higher and faster promotion and permanent jobs in academia cannot figure out as reasonable excuses to publish unethically. Hereby, I suggest a practical roadmap based on certain strategies which are recommendable for the scientific community. This paper describes author‘s perspective about predatory journals and how we can stop them. Moreover, following the appearance of the predatory journal, this is a first article discussing root cause analysis on this global scientific problem. Last but not least, predatory journals are not too bad! Since they can be considered as a critical discriminatory tool to distinguish between individuals who work truly standard and who pretend to work standard. 
The protective effect of γ-aminobutyric acid on kidney injury induced by renal ischemia-reperfusion in ovariectomized estradiol-treated rats
Background: Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is one of the most important causes of kidney injury, which is possibly gender-related. This study was designed to investigate the role of g-aminobutyric acid (GABA) against IRI in ovariectomized estradiol-treated rats.
Methods: Thirty-five ovariectomized Wistar rats were used in six experimental groups. The first three groups did not subject to estradiol treatment and assigned as sham-operated, control, and GABA-treated groups. GABA (50 μmol/kg) and saline were injected in the treated and control groups 30 min before the surgery, respectively. The second three groups received the same treatments but received estradiol valerate (500 μg/kg, intramuscularly) 3 days prior to the surgery. The IRI was induced in the control and treated groups by clamping the renal artery for 45 min and then 24 h of reperfusion. All animals were sacrificed for the measurements.
Results: The serum levels of creatinine and blood urea nitrogen, kidney weight, and kidney tissue damage score significantly increased in the IRI rats (P < 0.05). GABA significantly decreased the aforementioned parameters (P < 0.05). The uterus weight increased significantly in rats that received estradiol (P < 0.05). Serum and kidney levels of nitrite (nitric oxide metabolite) did not alter significantly. Serum level of malondialdehyde increased significantly in the ovariectomized rats exposed to IRI (P < 0.05).
Conclusions: It seems that GABA improved IRI in ovariectomized rats. Estradiol was also nephroprotective against IRI. However, co-administration of estradiol and GABA could not protect the kidney against IRI
Evaluation of the central and peripheral effects of doxepin on carrageenan-induced inflammatory paw edema in rat
The anti-inflammatory effects of anti-depressants have been demonstrated recently. Doxepin, a tricyclic antidepressant drug (TCA), has some special properties in comparison with the other members of its family. It has some H 1 , H 2 , alpha-1 adrenergic and muscarinic receptor blocking effects. It revealed also anti-nociceptive and relatively potent sedative effects. This study was aimed to evaluate its possible anti-inflammatory effect in a well-established animal model. Male Wistar rats weighing 200-250 g were used in carrageenan-induced inflammatory paw edema model. The test and control drugs were injected by intraperitoneal (i.p.) and intracerebral (i.c.v.) routes. The anti-inflammatory activity of doxepin (15, 30 and 60 mg/kg, i.p. and 50 and 100 μg/rat, i.c.v.) and the reference drug, dexamethasone (2 mg/kg, i.p.) were evaluated by determination and comparison of some involved biological markers including the paw volume, cytokine levels (interleukin 6 (IL-6), IL-1β, tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and histopathological parameters. All i.p. doses of doxepin showed significant anti-inflammatory effect. It also significantly reduced MPO activity and cytokine levels and improved histopathologic parameters of carrageenan-injected paw tissues. I.c.v. administration of the drug did not show any significant reduction of carrageenan-induced paw edema. Although the exact mechanism of the anti-inflammatory effect of doxepin is not clear, it seems that reduced leukocyte migration and pro-inflammatory cytokines play important role in its anti-inflammatory effect. Also central sites are not involved in the anti-inflammatory effect of the drug
Cisplatin Alters Sodium Excretion and Renal Clearance in Rats: Gender and Drug Dose Related
Background: Nephrotoxicity is one of the side effects of cisplatin (CP) therapy which is gender related. CP disturbs renal function through glomerular filtration rate and electrolytes transport disturbances. This study was designed to compare some markers related to renal function in two protocols of CP treatment in rats. Materials and Methods: Male and female rats were subjected to receive single (treat 1; 7.5 mg/kg) and continues doses (treat 2; 3 mg/kg/day for 5 days) of CP, and the measurements were compared with control animals. Results: The serum level of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Cr), and Cr-clearance, kidney tissue damage score, kidney weight, body weight change, and Na excretion was altered significantly (P < 0.05) in animals treated with continuous dose of CP (treat 2), while alteration of BUN and Cr was gender related. The kidney levels of malondialdehyde and nitrite were significantly different between male and female in two protocols of treatments. Conclusion: Renal function after CP therapy alters in rats' gender dependently, and it is related to protocol of treatment
