Profesor instructor del área de Teoría de la Comunicación. Licenciado en comunicación por la Universidad de Los Andes y master en periodismo de agencia por la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos de Madrid. Actualmente es doctorando del programa "Comunicación, Cambio Social y Desarrollo" del Departamento de Sociología IV (Teoría de la comunicación y métodos de investigación) de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, donde desarrolla la investigación titulada "La producción comunicativa de la identidad en los entornos virtuales". Ha desarrollado investigaciones en el área de la comunicación digital entre las que destaca "Periodismo en línea: Nuevas prácticas de la comunicación en el entorno digital" y "Construcción del archivo fotográfico de El Comunicador". Asimismo ha publicado artículos en las revistas especializadas en comunicación "Chasqui" Y "Razón y Palabra" y ha asistido en calidad de ponente a numerosos congresos nacionales e internacionales. Forma parte de la junta directiva y editorial de la agencia de noticias venezolana Intopress y ha ejercido el periodismo en medios como la agencia Efe, el canal televisivo CMT, la emisora radial "La Mega" y el periódico "La voz de Cojedes". Graciliano Arcila Vélez (1912-2002), fundador de la antropología académica en Antioquia, incursionó en diversos campos de la ciencia del hombre con una rigurosidad que le ha valido alguna celebridad como científico austero. Sin embargo, la reciente divulgación de parte de sus archivospersonales deja ver una temprana afinidad de Arcila con la literatura, tanto en calidad de compositor de poemas y piezas de oratoria como de crítico. El examen de tales documentos permite ver, por un lado, la escisión intelectual y estética de un autor que, comprometido con las perspectivas modernistas del siglo xx, actualiza aspiraciones del siglo xix; por otro lado, se hace evidente que el influjo de algunos proyectos literarios decimonónicos —romanticismo y costumbrismo— alimentan su ejercicio profesional como antropólogo antes que contradecirlo.Abstract. Graciliano Arcila Vélez (1912-2002), founder of academic anthropology in Antioquia (Colombia), was involved in a number of different areas of the science of man with such rigor that he achieved a certain celebrity as an austere scientist. Nevertheless, the recent release of part of his personal archives shows his early affinity to literature, as much a composer of poetry and oratory as a critic. Anexamination of these documents allow us to see, on one hand, the intellectual and aesthetic incision of an author who, committed to modernist perspectives of the 20th century, realizes aspirations from the 19th century; at the same time, it is evident that the influence of some literary objects –romanticism and folklore— enrich rather than detract from his professional occupation as an anthropologist

Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Maximal regularity for time-stepping schemes arising from convolution quadrature of non-local in time equations
Get PDF[EN] We study discrete time maximal regularity in Lebesgue spaces of sequences for time-stepping schemes arising from Lubich's convolution quadrature method. We show minimal properties on the quadrature weights that determines a wide class of implicit schemes. For an appropriate choice of the weights, we are able to identify the theta-method as well as the backward differentiation formulas and the L1-scheme. Fractional versions of these schemes, some of them completely new, are also shown, as well as their representation by means of the Grunwald-Letnikov fractional order derivative. Our results extend and improve some recent results on the subject and provide new insights on the basic nature of the weights that ensure maximal regularity.C. On a connection between the N-dimensional fractional Laplacian and 1-D fractional operators on lattices
No full text[EN] We show the remarkable fact that the nonlocal property of the discrete N dimensional fractional Laplacian acting in the second variable of the lattice N x Z(N) can be exchanged with an equivalent memory corresponding to a power of a onedimensional operator that acts only on the first variable of the complete lattice Z x Z(N). This property allows to reduce the number of calculations and leads to more complete analytical solutions of mathematical models on lattices. The connection is established by showing that a first order equation in the first variable, and of fractional order alpha > 0 in the second, has the same solution as another of order 1/alpha in the first variable and integer order in the second. As a result, we provide for the first time the fundamental solution for the N-dimensional heat equation discrete in time and space.C.
