The Author, together with two other victim-offender mediators (Adolfo Ceretti and Guido Bertagna) has facilitated a seven years long restorative justice process among a group of victims and former armed fighters from the so called “years of lead” in Italy. Springing from this experience, and from the contents of the dialogues between those victims and offenders, the issue of truth, the position of victims in criminal justice, the persistent retributive and offender-centred nature of criminal sanctions are analysed from a juridical point of view, in search for possible hints for criminal justice reform
Appunti sull' anticlassicismo in Valpadana tra Girolamo Romanino e Altobello Melone. ll Maestro V di Nave e Giovan Pietro Melone
In the first part of the paper, analysing the production of the so-called Maestro V di Nave, the author tries to find out the identity of this mysterious painter, deeply influenced by Girolamo Romanino, coming up with an addition to his catalogue. On the basis of some stylistic considerations supported by some archival deductions, the research leads to the recognition of the painter Giovan Giacomo Romani, Romanino's brother, as a possible candidate. The second part focuses on a rediscovered panel with a Virgin with Child between the Saints Blaise and Roch (location unknown), exhibited at the Esposizione d'arte sacra held in 1899 in Cremona, and here referred to the hand of Giovan Pietro Melone, nephew of the more famous Altobello, at a date close to the beginning of 1530s. Moreover, the occasion allows the author to analyse some documentarial and genealogical aspects relating to Altobello that have so far remained unsolved, such as the date of his death and relations with some other Melon es attested between Cremona and Brescia
Una "Vecchia" di Monsù Bernardo per i Musei di Brescia
A hitherto unpublished painting of a Woman Potting a Sapling, recently acquired by the Pinacoteca Tosio Martinengo in Brescia, is here attributed to the Danish artist Eberhard Keilhau (1624-1687), better known in Italy as Monsù Bernardo. In addition to discussing the style of the canvas in order to establish its likely date in the mid-1650s, the author focuses on its iconography, identifying a pendant image in another work already ascribed to Monsù Bernardo, a Woman Holding a Sapling

Giacomo Ceruti e Tortona tra gli Schulenburg e i Busseti
The author focuses on Giacomo Ceruti’s mature period, after his sojourn in the Veneto during the late 1730s. Specific attention is given to the patronage of the cycle of genre canvases painted for Palazzo Busseti in Tortona, whose original arrangement is investigated through the rediscovered inventory of the collection. This casts new light on the identities of other patrons of Ceruti during his years of itinerant activity in Piacenza, Milan and Tortona, for example Ludwig Ferdinand von Oeynhausen Schulenburg, identified here as the military commander portrayed in a celebrated canvas of 1743. In conclusion, the identification of the group of pictures in Palazzo Busseti allows for a more solid reconstruction of the early activity as genre painter of Paolo Borroni of Voghera, an imitator of Ceruti

Electrospinning of Poly-caprolactone for Scaffold Manufacturing: Experimental Investigation on the Process Parameters Influence
AbstractThe term “tissue engineering” refers to applications related with the repair or replacement of portions or whole tissue (i.e., bone, cartilage, blood vessels, skin, muscle etc.). Often, the tissues involved require certain mechanical and structural properties for their proper functioning. This leads to three-dimensional scaffolds fabrication to support cellular in-growth and proliferation. Scaffolds having tailored, biomimetic (across multiple scales) geometries have become important. Various technologies come together to construct porous scaffolds to regenerate the tissues and also for controlled and targeted release of bioactive agents in tissue engineering applications. The objective of the present work is to produce porous polymeric scaffolds made of Poly (ɛ-Caprolactone) (PCL), by electrospinning. Electrospinning is a process whereby ultra-fine fibers are formed in a high-voltage electrostatic field. The electrospun structure has a morphology similar to the extracellular matrix (ECM) of natural tissue, which is characterized by a wide range of pore diameters distribution, high porosity, and effective mechanical properties and is capable of supporting cells attachment and proliferation. The effects of process variables such as voltage, solution concentration and deposition distance on the structure have been studied. A combination of elongated beads and fibers, known as the bead-on-string morphology is also observed under many conditions. The fibrous structure is stabilized at high concentrations and voltages. The functional complexity of electrospun scaffolds provides significant advantages over other techniques. The wide range of structural characteristics that may be obtained in an electrospun polymer makes it suitable for many biomedical applications including medical textiles, drug delivery, membrane separation and organ regeneration. However, improvements are required before optimal utilization in vivo becomes routine. Improved deposition efficiency is necessary to maintain the attractiveness of this technique
Prevalence and prognostic value of Delirium as the initial presentation of COVID-19 in the elderly with dementia: An Italian retrospective study
Background: Delirium may be one of the presenting symptoms of COVID-19, complicating diagnosis and care of elderly patients with dementia. We aim to identify the prevalence and prognostic significance of delirium as the sole onset manifestation of COVID-19.Methods: This is a retrospective single-centre study based on review of medical charts, conducted during the outbreak peak (March 27-April 18, 2020) in a Lombard dementia facility, including 59 elderly subjects with dementia and laboratory-confirmed COVID-19.Findings: Of the 59 residents, 57 (96.6%) tested positive (mean age: 82.8; women: 66.7%). Comorbidities were present in all participants, with 18/57 (31.6%) having three or more concomitant diseases. Delirium-Onset COVID-19 (DOC) was observed in 21/57 (36.8%) subjects who were chiefly older (mean age: 85.4 y/o) and with multiple comorbidities. Eleven/21 DOC patients (52.4%) had hypoactive delirium, while hyperactive delirium occurred in ten/21 (47.6%). Lymphopenia was present in almost all subjects (median: 1.3 x 10(9)/L). Overall mortality rate was 24.6% (14/57) and dementia severity per se had no impact on short-term mortality due to COVID-19. DOC was strongly associated with higher mortality (p<0.001). Also, DOC and male gender were independently associated with increased risk of mortality (OR: 17.0, 95% CI: 2.8-102.7, p = 0.002 and 13.6, 95% CI: 2.3-79.2, p = 0.001 respectively).Interpretation: Delirium occurrence in the elderly with dementia may represent a prodromal phase of COVID-19, and thus deserves special attention, especially in the presence of lymphopenia. Hypoxia and a severe inflammatory state may develop subsequently. DOC cases have higher short-term mortality rate. (C) 2020 The Author(s). Published by Elsevier Ltd
Process Standardization to Support Service Process Assessment and Re-engineering
AbstractService Engineering (SE) discipline is currently supporting companies during the engineering and re-engineering phases of their service offering. With the support of SE methods, companies can undertake their servitization journey with the best premise to gain as well as deliver value to their customers. For this purpose, the Service Engineering Methodology (SEEM) has been proposed. The SEEM entails methods to design service concepts and processes capable of balancing value between customers and the company. Some industrial cases, carried out in collaboration with ABB, a leading provider in power and automation technology, demonstrate the effectiveness of such methodology in the re-engineering of existing services in B2B context. Despite that, the cases show that the SEEM application is time consuming, especially in the validation of the service provision process. Thus, in order to facilitate and speed up the implementation of the methodology, a standard process for service provision becomes relevant. Then, starting from the re-engineering of the existing product-oriented services offered by ABB, this paper aims at laying the foundation for the definition of a reference model and a standard process model for product-oriented service delivery. The results will support the SEEM adoption and the definition of service processes avoiding the design of customized models, that cannot be compared and adapted to different realities. In line with what has been found in literature, the definition of a possible reference model and a preliminary standard process model are presented
