Small sample sizes, overextraction, and unrealistic expectations: A commentary on M. Mattsson
In a recent article about the Manchester Driver Behaviour Questionnaire (DBQ), Mattsson (2012) concluded that the factor structure was not invariant across subgroups of respondents. This commentary contests this conclusion
A Relationship Between Operator Performance and Arousal in Assembly
In order to meet the challenges of future complex systems, manufacturing companies need to better understand how social sustainability affects the operator. One way of studying this is to investigate the possible relationships between operator performance and emotion in an assembly experiment. 60 participants took part in an experiment to investigate the relationships between operator performance and objective and subjective arousal. Results showed a weak relationship between operator performance and objective arousal but no significant relationship was found between performance and subjective arousal. The relationships indicate that further studies on operator emotion could be important to better assembly performance. A tool for doing this might be the Qsensor used in this experiment (measure of objective arousal). More studies are needed to further investigate found relationship and if objective emotion measures can be used to predict performance at assembly workstations.CC BY-NC-ND 4.0Edited by Rikard SöderbergThe research has been carried out within the framework of the Sustainable Production Initiative and the Production Area of Advance at Chalmers University of Technology. Children in custody disputes ::matching legal proceedings to problems /
This open access book explores how legal proceedings in and out-of-court can be matched to the complex problems underlying disputes concerning child custody, residence and contact between parents. It focuses in particular on Nordic experiences of in and out-of-court mechanisms as means of resolving custody disputes. The contributors are internationally renowned and experienced researchers from the legal, psychological, and sociological fields who provide empirical as well as legal perspectives. They examine central legal, ethical and knowledge-based dilemmas in custody dispute proceedings. The findings speak to an international audience and suggest ways how to best realize the interests of the child. It transcends disciplinary, institutional, and jurisdictional boundaries in search of new knowledge. Anna Kaldal is a professor of procedural law and head of subject at the Faculty of Law, Stockholm university, Sweden. Her main field of research is evidential law and children in legal proceedings, especially children in custody cases, criminal cases and child protection cases. She is one of the founders of the Stockholm Centre for the Rights of the Child. Agnes Hellner is a senior lecturer in procedural law at the Faculty of Law, Stockholm University, Sweden. Her research focuses on access to justice, comparative procedural law and constitutional law dimensions of procedural law, such as the relationship between the courts and the legislature. Titti Mattsson is a professor of public law at the Faculty of Law, Lund University, Sweden. Her research focuses on legal, ethical and human rights issues within national social welfare systems, including children's rights. Mattsson is heading the Health Law Research Centre at Lund University

Differential Effect of APOE Alleles on Brain Glucose Metabolism in Targeted Replacement Mice: An [18F]FDG-μPET Study
Background:
The Apolipoprotein E (ApoE) alleles ɛ2, ɛ3, and ɛ4 are known to differentially modulate cerebral glucose metabolism and the risk for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) via both amyloid-β (Aβ)-dependent and independent mechanisms.
Objective:
We investigated the influence of ApoE on cerebral glucose metabolism in humanized APOE Targeted Replacement (TR) mice at ages that precede the comparison of Aβ parenchymal deposits in APOE4-TR mice.
Methods:
Fludeoxyglucose ([18F]FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) measures were performed longitudinally in homozygous APOE-TR mice (APOE2, APOE3, APOE4; n = 10 for each group) at 3, 5, 11, and 15 months. Results were quantified using standard uptake values and analyzed statistically using a linear mixed effects model. Levels of the Aβ40 and Aβ42 peptides were quantified ex vivo using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) at 15 months in the same animals.
