La struttura dell’offerta di formazione professionale pubblica in Italia. Linee di tendenza nei processi di trasformazione dei sistemi regionali
The analysis focuses on most relevant lines of development in VET regional
systems on the basis of findings highlighted in a recent study promoted by ISFOL on the
structure of public VET provision in Italy. In particular, the article explores how regional
systems have been improved in recent years, in order to be more capable to tackle effects
produced by global crisis and changing educational needs. The analysis adopts a qualita-
tive approach, considering evaluations expressed by key actors. At the beginning a general
framework on main current lines of evolution affecting VET systems in the international
scenario is proposed, according to OECD and European Commission analysis. On this basis,
a synthetic overview of the Italian case is subsequently introduced. In the final section, the
authors propose a scheme aimed at locating different regional systems with relation to their
level of accountability in facing consequences produced by the global crisis

Limb body wall complex in two heterozygotic twins: a case report
Introdution. Limb-Body Wall Complex (LBWC) is a congenital defect which includes at least two of the following characteristics:
abdominal and/or thoracic body wall defects, exencephaly or encephalocoele with or without craniofacial defects (56%) and spinal defects associated with marked vertebral or sacral defects (95%).
Case Report. We present a case report of an infant with LBWC, borned by diamniotic twin pregnancy. A prenatal ultrasound reported an healthy fetus and a fetus with multiple malformations. At birth we found a big abdominal wall defect, absence of scrotal sac and testicles, asymmetric chest and no major deformities in craniofacial region. At 2 hours of life, we removed the amniotic sac, we put the stomach and the spleen in the abdominal cavity, which is virtual, and positioned a spring-loaded silo. At 15th day of life we had complete reduction of the intestinal loops and liver and we closed the wall defect with a prosthesis and a cryopreserved skin. The general conditions of the patient, very severe since birth, became progressively worse and he died in the 21st day of life.
Discussion. Once the diagnosis is done the physician should offer the parents a therapeutic abortion, and above all, in case they want to carry the pregnancy to term, we need to prepare them to the severity of the malformation and the high probability of death
ESOPHAGEAL PEPTIC STENOSIS: MANAGEMENT OF A COMPLEX CASE
Introduction: esophageal stenosis is one of the most serious problems in patients with peptic esophagitis. It may require
esophageal resection and replacement, if no other treatment is effective. Patients and methods: we report a successfully managed
case of persistent esophageal stricture. The patient was a 10-year-old boy suffering from gastroesophageal reflux since
birth. He has an esophageal peptic stricture which was treated with multiple dilatation at another hospital (about 24 times).
The boy joined our Unit for gastroesophageal reflux and severe esophageal stricture confirmed with contrast X-ray. He could
only eat liquid foods and had a growth retardation. He underwent endoscopy which shows severe esophagitis with mucosal
bleeding. He also had a severe anemia, for which he underwent blood transfusion. We decided to submit the boy to Toupet
laparoscopic fundoplication, endoscopic intraluminal dilatation with balloon and diathermic needle and therapy with PPI
(protonic pump inhibitors) and corticostheroids. The little patient needed 7 endoscopic dilatations. Results: one month after
the last dilatation he has grown, can eat all kind of foods, his blood count is normal and X-ray and endoscopy both show resolution
of the stenosis and esophagitis. Conclusions: we report this case because we think that it’s a complex and interesting
case. This patient was a candidate for esophageal replacement. We managed to save his native esophagus, treating gastroesophageal
reflux and peptic stenosis with surgery and endoscopic dilatations, and reducing fibrosis and scarring with corticosteroid
therapy. We thus think that this therapeutic procedure can be an optimal choice to contemplate before considering
native esophagus replacement
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
