Dependable System Design for Reconfigurable Safety-Critical Applications

    No full text
Scaling of transistor's channel length is entering the realm of atomic and molecular geometries making possible the design of powerful miniature sized computing device and enabling their omnipresence in every aspect of human life including safety-critical applications, for example, automotive, space and avionics and bio-medicine. However, these scaled nanoelectronic systems are increasingly vulnerable to transients and permanent faults posing severe threat to life and expensive equipment. Therefore, safety-critical applications should consider dependability from design, implementation, layout, fabrication to in-field operations. The evaluation of dependability of such systems is equally important. State-of-the-art SRAM-based FPGAs are interesting devices because they are not only the early adopters of latest technology nodes making them vulnerable to all sorts of nanoelectronic faults but their reconfiguration properties have potential counter-measure applications in dependable system design. This dissertation is focused on the usage of reconfiguration for improving and evaluating the dependability of nanoelectronic systems. The main research problem pursued in this work is the effective mitigation of soft errors like Single Event Upsets (SEUs) and Multiple Bit Upsets (MBUs) in FPGA's configuration memory, optimizing the reconfiguration times for fault injection and fault removal and emulation of permanent faults. To address these problems this work proposes solutions based on applying redundancy and reconfiguration at different levels of granularity leveraging the basic building blocks of FPGA's architecture and reconfiguration capabilities in an unconventional manner usually not supported by standard tools. The solutions presented effectively mitigate MBUs by using techniques of fine-grain and coarse-grain redundancy and reliability-oriented placement. Recovery times are optimized with fine-grain error detection, error localization and local repairing. The usage of carry-chain based error detectors promises very fast error detection times in orders of nanoseconds and has extremely low-area overhead. The programmable nature of LUTs is exploited for permanent stuck-at fault emulation of custom ICs using controlled LUT-mapping resulting in significant speed up against traditional fault simulation time

Resource allocation plan for the Naval Academy of Strategic Studies (ANEES) of the National Navy of Colombia

    No full text
The topic of the project focuses on the training of strategic leaders of the Colombian Navy, including the creation of the ANEES. In the background, the importance of this academy for making strategic-level decisions regarding the nation's maritime power is highlighted. The purpose is to guarantee comprehensive training for officers and non-commissioned officers through an Annual Training Plan (PAC), to consolidate the required quality education for the group of students. The methodology involves the allocation of resources and the logistics necessary to carry out the training managed by the Logistics Subdirection (SULAN) that coordinates the acquisition of goods and services through contractual processes. The main results seek that the allocation of expenditure management resolves the PAC, since ANEES acquisitions are subject to the priorities of other entities delegating public spending of the National Navy. The conclusions suggest that by providing alignment options between training needs and budget execution, it can generate agility and effectiveness in the training of naval leaders, improving the operation and effectiveness of the ANEES in meeting its strategic objectives.Magíster en Administración de EmpresasMaestríaEMPRENDIMIENTO Y GERENCIA::ENTORNO ECONOMICO DE LAS ORGANIZACIONES ALEXANDER CORREA OSPINA Categoría A1 COL0022351::Políticas y administración públic

For the past six months, I have been blessed with the opportunity to train and gain working experience here at Muhammad Anees & Company (Penang). My name is Muhamad Noor Hisyamuddin bin Othman, a final year student of UiTM Arau majoring in Business Administration (Hons) Finance. Muhammad Anees & Company is a young and growing company that is founded by Mr. Muhammad Anees bin Sheik Othman. This company is established on 6 November of 2011 and now it has two branches which are in Penang and in Kuala Lumpur. There are 35 employees here, including permanent workers as well as internship students like I am that ranges from various ethnicity and age groups. As for my training experience, I can sum up that it has been a great and educational time for me during my internship period. I was placed in the finance department and I had learned many new things regarding financing activities such as preparing various documents such as invoices, transfer vouchers and payment vouchers. Overall, it is quite educational and useful. This study implements the SWOT analysis that covers the internal and external aspects of the company. This analysis is used as an assist to identify the company’s financial performance. This study also is made in order to center the positive and negative aspects observed while I was completing my internship at the company
