No full textProfessor Benoit is the Principal Investigator in an ERC funded project QUANTESS developing innovative methods for the quantitative analysis of textual data in the social sciences. He is the co-author with Paul Nulty of the R software package for text analysis “quanteda”, and working on a book Quantitative Text Analysis Using R covering methods for managing, processing, and analysing textual data using the R programming language. He has taught quantitative text analysis extensively and has published research in this area targeting both methodology and political science applications

An elementary way to rigorously estimate convergence to equilibrium and escape rates
No full textWe show an elementary method to obtain (finite time and asymptotic) computer assisted explicit upper bounds on convergence to equilibrium (decay of correlations) and escape rates for systems satisfying a Lasota Yorke inequality. The bounds are deduced from the ones of suitable approximations of the system's transfer operator. We also present some rigorous experiments on some nontrivial example

No full textThe onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought Europe to a standstill that spurred the European Union to an unprecedented level of cooperation and joint decision making. The EU and its Member-States met the global health challenge with by becoming the vaccine factory of the world and launching an ambitious transformation of its society funded by unprecedented European joint public borrowing. As a result, two years after the first three cases detected were reported in France on 24 January 2020, the economy has begun to recover and the EU is ready to consider its next steps. A triple transition of climate, digital and social change must be part of the EU's strategy in the coming years.
In this article, the authors explore the financial, political and environmental challenges ahead and put forth a series of recommendations to secure the best outcome for the EU in five areas: enabling the triple transition; fair and effective taxation for the triple transition, moving towards a Health Union, strengthening Europe’s role in the world, and making the governance of the Union fit for purpose

In this small village, the fast fashion industry has turned local life into a nightmare. Rivers and aquifers water are poisoned, the air is thick with smog, and homes are buried under mountains of cloths waste.Fun but challenging gameplay. You play as ‘Acerico’ (pincushion), a wood carving stamp apprentice and former fast fashion factory worker. Acerico's mission is to restore environmental balance while reinventing local industry practices.Game Levels: Seeing Uttar Lakadee gradual transformation into a wasteland has broken your heart. Your brave decision to escape the factory wasn't easy and will be full of obstacles.Fast Fashion impact on water scarcity: Fast fashion is a business model in the fashion industry focused on producing clothing quickly and inexpensively to keep up with rapidly changing trends. The goal is to bring trendy, runway-inspired designs to consumers at affordable prices, often with a short turnaround time from design to store shelves. Fast fashion contributes to water scarcity through the vast amounts of water used in cotton farming, dyeing, and garment production. For example, producing one cotton shirt can require over 2,700 litres of water. Additionally, untreated wastewater from dyeing processes pollutes freshwater sources, further depleting clean water availability.Sustainable Practices: My Favourite T-Shirt's playful and imaginative approach to how Fast Fashion impacts on water scarcity provides key information about sustainable practices in the textile industry, ranging from returning to more eco-friendly traditional printing techniques, to replacing chemicals for natural dyeing, to the benefits of recycling and donating clothes and garments.All 'favourite' T-shirts appearing in the game are mostly provided by children and gamer friends. We also work with local communities to create their favourite T-Shirt designs and the reason why they love them so much.Collaboration: Climent fully developed this video game project, including programming, 3D modelling, rigging, animation, Sound design, and part of the music.
