TAJASSUS IN THE QUR'AN: IMPLEMENTATION, LAWS, AND DEVIATIONS
The Qur'an does not discuss tajassus specifically. It is proven by the lack of the word tajassus, especially when it is based on the meaning of spying. Implicitly, the value of tajassus is found in several stories and verses collectively, which leads to fault-finding or vigilance. A particular verse about tajassus with a negative connotation is Surah al-ḤujurÄt12. An example of tajassus with a positive sense is Surah YÅ«suf 87. The research in this paper is classified as literature research with a qualitative approach. The methodology used is a descriptive analysis study. The results of this study are two: First, there are two types of tajassus: tajassus in the positive sense and negative tajassus. Positive tajassus is the importance of the existence of intelligence for the state. Negative tajassus is prejudice or finding fault in others. Second, the implementation of tajassus is similar between classical and modern times, the only difference being the use of technology at different times. The tajassus deviation in this study occurred when UmÄr entered the house without permission. While in modern tajassus is the use of wiretapping devices outside the authority of the perpetrators
Psychiatric consultations and length of hospital stay
hospital stay (LOS) of patients referred to psychiatric
consultation liaison (C-L) services.
Methods: The study sample prospectively included
all the referrals in 2004 to the C-L psychiatry unit
at King Khaled University Hospital in Riyadh,
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The following factors
were documented for each consultation: patient
demographic characteristics, dates of admission,
consultation, and discharge, and total days of stay,
medical specialty service requesting the consultation,
reason for referral given by the referring physician, and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of
Mental Disorders DSM-IV diagnosis, based on the
consultation interview.
Results: The total number of referrals was 264. The
LOS showed positive correlation with referral time
(p=0.0001) accounting for 22% of the variance
in LOS. Surgical ward admission and diagnosis of
delirium predicted longer LOS, while obstetric/
gynecology ward admission, diagnosis of anxiety,
and diagnosis of bipolar affective disorder predicted
shorter LOS.
Conclusion: The direct correlation between the timing
of referral and LOS reinforces that it is important for
medical professionals to identify and detect patients
who require early psychiatric intervention. Ways of
detecting high-risk patients are discussed.Corresponding Author:

Transferability of Privacy-related Behaviours to Shared Smart Home Assistant Devices
Smart assistant devices (such as Amazon Echo or Google Home) have notable differences to more conventional consumer computing devices. They can be used through voice control as well as physical interaction, and are often positioned as a shared device within a home environment. We conduct an exploratory online survey with 97 UK-based users of smart assistant devices, to examine the differences users perceive between smart assistants and more familiar devices (such as smartphones and computers), in terms of shared use dynamics, privacy-related behaviours, and privacy concerns. The survey explores typical usage, setup practices, perceived ease of use and control, privacy concerns for multiple users, shared usage of existing devices, and smart assistant privacy control usage. Approximately half of participants were unsure of where to access privacy settings on their smart home assistants; basic device controls and informal privacy controls saw general use. Those who had used privacy controls with previous devices used at least one smart assistant privacy control. Results have implications for supporting transferable privacy behaviours from computing devices to smart home devices, and improving privacy-related design for smart assistants.Accepted Author ManuscriptOrganisation & Governanc
BEYOND PIOUS CRITICAL AGENCY: WOMEN, INTERFAITH MARRIAGE AND RELIGIOUS CONVERSION IN ACEH
Most studies discussing about interfaith marriage and religious conversion are ignoring woman's autonomy in selecting spouse as well as choosing religion. This paper examines the agency of women who converted due to marriage based on the experiences of four women in two areas in Aceh, the South East Aceh, and Aceh Singkil. Data was collected through observation and semi-structured interviews of four converted women, her husband, and her relatives. The phenomenon of religious conversion on the reason of marriage is placed in the feminist poststructuralist discourse, especially the concept of pious agency and critical piety agency. This paper challenges the view that says religious conversion on the reason of marriage will give the result to those who converted that religion to them is merely administrative matters and they lose their focus on building personal piety. Instead, this article argued the possibility of people who convert to other religion represent their religiosity after conversion as well as before conversion
Stuck in Sharia Space: The Experiences of Christian Students to Reside in Langsa, Aceh
This article examines the problem of spatial access for Christian students of Samudera University as experiences of minorities in Langsa, Aceh. This article argues that Aceh’s public space that is formed by religious identity, leads dichotomy of citizenship in social life. Using life story method, this article explores the problem of Christian students of Samudera University to reside in Langsa. The results show the formation of space by displaying a single identity has polarized majority-minority in public space. Finally, this article also shows that the formation of space by displaying a single identity created an imbalance space for minority, and compelling minority to create alternative space.[Artikel ini membahas persoalan akses ruang berdasarkan pengalaman mahasiswa minoritas Kristen di Universitas Samudera, Langsa, Aceh. BEING CHRISTIANS IN THE ACEHNESE WAY: Illiberal Citizenship and Women’s Agency in the Islamic Public Sphere
This article examines the ways in which Acehnese Christian women’s identities expressed in the Islamic public sphere. The article argues that although theoretically Islamic Shari'a only applies to Muslims, its implementation in Aceh has a significant impact on the daily life of Christian women. The first part of the article presents a critical review regarding the Islamic sharia in Aceh dealing with the discourse of citizenship and the position of non-Muslim. Furthermore, drawing on agency theoretical frameworks, the authors describe the experiences of Christian women from diverse backgrounds to show how they became Christians in the Acehnese way. The article finally shows that Christian women's agencies as a minority in Aceh face a critical situation, although they remain independent and are not easily subdued by public sphere driven by the values and religious identities of the majority
Empirical model for frequency content estimation of strong ground motion records of Iran
This paper presents a new empirical model to predict the mean period (Tm) as a frequency-content parameter of earthquake record using the strong ground motions recorded in Iran during 1975–2019. An updated earthquake databank containing 2281 horizontal acceleration records was employed to develop the empirical model through a systematic fitting procedure. A simple functional form for the model was found as a function of epicentral distance (R), moment magnitude (Mw), and the shear wave velocity averaged at the top 30 m of the recording sites (Vs30). The proposed model is compared with three existing predictive models and the results are discussed in terms of magnitude, source-to-site, and site dependencies.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Geo-engineerin
