Trains as public transportation have experienced quite significant passenger growth. One type of train that has just been developed is a compartment, a room to maintain passenger’s privacy during the trip. However, train design needs to pay more attention to passenger preferences. Uncovering this can be done using the Kansei Engineering method, which has successfully increased the value of products such as cars and others. Previously, research had been carried out with the results of favorite compartment designs with a minimalist theme, green color palette, decorative painting, glossy, and dominant wood motif finishing. However, this research has not addressed the affective side’s influence on design specifications more deeply. The research objective is to determine train compartment interior design specifications that suit user preferences and respondent clustering. This research will be carried out using a questionnaire with a semantic differential scale, which is tested using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Cluster Analysis. The research results show that user preferences influence the interior design specifications of the compartment and the favorite design samples chosen by most respondents. The results of this research can be a reference for train manufacturers and the general public

Recently, there has been a growing demand for Rattan baby cribs in the international market, primarily due to aesthetic appeal of handwoven rattan. Given that these cribs are intended for infants, safety is a paramount concern alongside aesthetics. Previous research identified a potential risk of limb injury in infants aged 5-12 months due to inconsistent rattan gap decorations exceeding 60 mm in crib width. However, achieving standard gap dimensions in conventional handcrafted production methods has been challenging. This study aims to investigate safety, aesthetics, and manufacturing efficiency in Rattan baby crib production through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving research designers, the Research and Development (R&D) Department, the production department, the marketing division, and expert guest designers. Rattan with a diameter of 22 mm and a consistent gap width below 60 mm, is utilized. The crib’s structural elements will apply simple, robust, straight rattan weaving. Visual design recommendation encompasses natural luxury, playfulness, and safety. Various rattan types that balance aesthetics and strength, including thinner-diameter rattan with intricate weaving as non-structural aesthetic elements and side-by-side dual system, enhance beauty while meeting strength and material efficiency requirements. The development of Rattan baby cribs, focusing on child safety and aesthetics, is highly demand due to increasing market demand in the United States, Australia, and Europe and potential opportunities in the local market

Luffa Cylindrica is one of Indonesia’s biodiversity, which provides several benefits, such as for making handycraft, cleaning tool and event for building materials. This study aims to investigate the ability of Luffa as a sound absorber and its visual impression when applied to interior walls. The first stage is testing the damping ability of panels made of Luffa. Several specimens of Luffa acoustic panels were made with PVAc adhesive and then tested to determine their damping ability. From the test results using the impedance tube method (ASTME1050-12), the samples met the soundproof requirements with an absorption coefficient of 0.15 - 0.206 at a frequency of 1600 Hz. The lost sound transmission values obtained are in the range of 40-60 dB. Thus, Luffa can be used as a good sound-absorbing material. The next stage is the development of the visual design of the panel so that it has a certain aesthetic or perceptual value. Three designs were made with variations in shape and color into nine samples applied to a wall of interior space. The semantic differential method assessment found that simple and decorative impressions dominated when the panel was applied to interior walls
