Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Evaluación de dos fuentes nutricionales en un cultivo de Gulupa (Passiflora edulis f edulis. Sims,) bajo las condiciones del municipio de Pacho Cundinamarca.
La gulupa (Passiflora edulis f edulis. Sims) es una de las frutas exóticas que más se exportan en Colombia, siendo muy apetecida en mercados internacionales, especialmente en Europa. La gulupa, es un cultivo que permanentemente se encuentra en estado vegetativo y la producción de flores y fruto es constante, por lo tanto, nutricionalmente para la producción del cultivo son esenciales elementos mayores N, P y K y elementos menores, principalmente, B, Cu, Fe y Zn. Sin embargo, se han generado diferentes interrogantes alrededor de la producción de gulupa, que en Colombia no han sido muy estudiadas, en especial, cuando se habla de temas relacionados con la fisiología del cultivo y los tratamientos nutricionales que se han venido incorporando, así como las posibles relaciones que puedan existir entre los contenidos relativos de clorofila y su relación con el crecimiento de la planta; por lo tanto en esta investigación se planteó como objetivo general la evaluación de dos tratamientos nutricionales, basados en fuentes de Nitrógeno (N), Fosforo (P), Calcio (Ca) y Magnesio (Mg) .La presente investigación se desarrolló en el cultivo de gulupa, en estado vegetativo, ubicado en el municipio de Pacho Cundinamarca, en donde se evaluaron los tratamientos nutricionales y su interacción, tomando el contenido relativo de clorofila en la tercera hoja verdadera y el crecimiento durante el desarrollo del ensayo del tallo principal en cada una de las plantas evaluadas. Se realizó un diseño experimental, de bloques completos al azar, con medidas repetidas sobre la misma planta, donde se tomarán 16 plantas de gulupa (Passiflora edulis f edulis. Sims), en el cual se evaluó el efecto de cuatro fuentes nutricionales en cuatro bloques que evidenciaron el efecto nutricional del Fosforo (P), Calcio (Ca) y el Nitrógeno (N). La cantidad de clorofila relativa se realizó con un medidor de clorofila creado en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia sede Medellín, resaltando que el dispositivo electrónico mide la transmitancia de la luz a través de la hoja. En los resultados no se logró obtener ninguna diferencia estadística significativa, por lo cual se decidió con el uso de la librería Gamlss del programa R, para modelar bajo la distribución Gamma y verificar la eventual correlación entre la longitud del tallo y los contenidos relativos de clorofila en los diferentes tratamientos, donde se pudo encontrar, el tratamiento más efectivo o con mayores resultados es el de nitrógeno (N) mas Fosforo (P) y Calcio (Ca) ya que es 1.50 veces mayor al tratamiento base. Por ende, y que posiblemente por cada 1 cm que crezca el tallo, la clorofila relativa en la tercera hoja verdadera aumenta 0.97%; con lo cual se concluye que el uso del dispositivo electrónico puede ser muy útil y pertinente para estimar las condiciones nutricionales del cultivo de gulupa, siendo un gran aporte para el agro colombiano.Gulupa (Passifloraedulis f edulis. Sims) is one of the exotic fruits that are most exported in Colombia, being very popular in international markets, especially in Europe. The gulupa, is a crop that is permanently in a vegetative state and the production of flowers and fruits is constant, therefore, nutritionally for the production of the crop are major essential elements N, P and K and minor elements, mainly, B, Cu, Fe and Zn. However, different questions have been raised around the production of gulupa, which in Colombia have not been studied, especially when it comes to issues related to the physiology of the crop and the nutritional treatments that have been incorporated, as well as the possible relationships that may exist between the related contents of chlorophyll and its relation to plant growth; Therefore, in this research the general objective was the evaluation of two nutritional treatments, methods in sources of nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium and magnesium. This research was carried out in the cultivation of gulupa, in a vegetative state, located in the municipality of Pacho Cundinamarca, where nutritional treatments and their interaction were evaluated, taking the relative content of chlorophyll in the third true leaf and growth during the development of the main stem test in each of the plants evaluated. An experimental design of randomized complete blocks was performed, with repeated measurements on the same plant, where 16 gulupa plants (Passiflora edulis f edulis. Sims) will be taken, in which the effect of four nutritional sources in four blocks was evaluated which evidenced the nutritional effect of Phosphorus (P), Calcium (Ca) and Nitrogen (N). The amount of relative chlorophyll was performed with a chlorophyll meter created at the National University of Medellín, highlighting that the electronic device measures the light transmittance through the leaf. In the results it was not possible to obtain any significant statistical difference, so it was decided with the use of the Gamlss library of the R program, to model under the Gamma distribution and verify the eventual (THE PROBABLE) correlation between the length of the stem and the relative contents of chlorophyll in the different treatments, where it could be found, the most effective treatment or with greater results is that of nitrogen (N) plus Phosphorus (P) since it is 1.50 times greater than the base treatment in this case Calcium (Ca ). Therefore, and possibly for every 1 cm that the stem grows, the relative chlorophyll in the third true leaf increases 0.97%; which concludes that the use of the electronic device can be very useful and relevant to estimate the nutritional conditions of the gulupa crop, being a great contribution to Colombian agriculture
