PENGARUH ORGANISASI KEMAHASISWAAN TERHADAP PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER KEPEMIMPINAN MAHASISWA DI STAI MA’HAD ALY AL-HIKAM MALANG
In order to preserve justice and the truth, student organizations and movements support students in expressing their goals. Along with developing their interests, skills, and innovations, students can also become more perceptive and logical. The purpose of this study is to ascertain whether student groups at the Islamic College "Ma\u27had Aly Al-Hikam" in Malang have an impact on the development of leadership qualities. Quantitative research methodologies are used in this work. Researchers utilize questionnaires to gather data. Validity testing, reliability tests, traditional assumption tests, and hypothesis tests utilizing basic linear regression tests are all used by researchers during the data analysis and processing process. It is possible to draw the conclusion that student organizations significantly impact the development of leadership character based on the data analysis results. This can be demonstrated by comparing the significance value with a probability value of 0.05, which is the outcome of the simple linear regression analysis test. A significance value of 0.001 <0.05 was determined using the Coefficients table\u27s significance value. According to this study, student organizations have a 76.4% impact on how leadership character is formed; other factors account for the remaining 23.6%. Furthermore, it is believed that the independent variable has a significant impact on the dependent variable, as indicated by the R-Square determination coefficient (R2) of 0.764. This suggests that H1 is accepted and the hypothesis Ho is rejected. Thus, it can be said that the variable of leadership character building (Y) is influenced by the student organization variable (X)

On the relaxed area of maps from the plane to itself taking three values
In this thesis we address two different problems; the first and the main one is the study of the relaxed area functional A(u, Ω) of the graph of vector maps u ∈ L1(Ω; R^k) on an open set Ω ⊂ R^n, mainly for n = k = 2. In particular we are interested in estimating from above the area of the graph of a singular map u taking a disk to three vectors, the vertices of a triangle, and jumping along three C^2-embedded curves that meet transversely at only one point of the disk. We show that the singular part of the relaxed area can be estimated from above by the solution of a Plateau-type problem involving three entangled nonparametric area-minimizing surfaces. The idea is to “fill the hole” in the graph of the singular map with a sequence of approximating smooth two-codimensional surfaces of graph-type, by imagining three minimal surfaces, placed vertically over the jump of u, coupled together via a triple point in the target triangle. Such a construction depends on the choice of a target triple point, and on a connection passing through it, which dictate the boundary condition for the three minimal surfaces. We show that the singular part of the relaxed area of u cannot be larger than what we obtain by minimizing over all possible target triple points and all corresponding connections. Moreover we investigate the possibility of adopting similar techniques to study the same problem in more general and different settings for instance when u has several (finite or infinite) triple junctions, or when n = 3, or when R^{2×2} is endowed by a Riemannian metric. An interesting open problem that we plan to address in the future, is to investigate the lower bound inequality; this seems to involve a strong use of geometric measure theory and Cartesian currents.
The second part of the thesis is devoted to the problem of characterizing arbitrary codimensional smooth manifolds M with boundary embedded in R^n using the square distance function and the signed distance function from M and from its boundary. The results are localized in an open set
ALY/REF as independent prognostic parameter in prostate cancer
In addition, ALY/REF is thought to function as a transcription factor and to be involved in stability of nuclear mRNA. Several studies have investigated the role of ALY/REF in tumor biology. In order to explain whether ALY/REF protein expression is important in prostate cancer, the present study immunohistochemically investigated 17 965 prostate cancers in a tissue micro-array based research approach. Under the selected conditions ALY/REF expression was low to moderate in normal prostate epithelium. ALY/REF expression in tumors was strong in 24,4%, low in 33,4% and negative in 42,2%. When analyzing known molecular parameters, there was a highly significant association between ALY/REF expression and ERG-status, presence of PTEN-deletions, an increased expression of androgen receptor and an increased cell proliferation (ki67-LI). The comparison of ALY/REF expression with tumor phenotype and prognosis was significantly associated with pT (p < 0,001), pN (p < 0,001), serum PSA level (p < 0,001), R status (p < 0,001) and patient prognosis when investigating the overall collective. The relationship between prognosis and all established pre- and postoperatively accessible prognostic factors was shown to be independent in multivariate analysis. Those statistically significant parameters were though deceptive as the prognostic difference was marginal. PSA recurrence occurred after five years in 23,8% of ALY/REF negative, 29,5% of ALY/REF weak positive and 25,6% of ALY/REF strong positive tumors. Additionally it is an uncommon finding that the most unfavorable prognosis is found in the middle group of those tumors that only weakly express ALY/REF. Separate investigation of ERG positive and ERG negative tumors showed that ALY/REF expression is prognostically relevant in ERG positive but not ERG negative tumors. Taking all these aspects into consideration one can conclude from the present data that the ALY/REF protein directly or indirectly interacts with ERG, the androgen receptor and the PTEN/AKT-pathway and, that ALY/REF is needed in a particularly high level in highly proliferative tumors. Given the only slight difference in prognosis in tumors with different ALY/REF expression and the limitation of the minor prognostic importance in ERG negative tumors, a significance of ALY/REF protein determination in clinical contexts is not assumed
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
"Closing the R&D Gap, Evaluating the Sources of R&D Spending"
Both spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.
