Objectives: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of risk factors in mothers with underweight newborns in the Hospital Luis F. Martinez, Cañar.
Materials and Methods: This is a work of descriptive, transversal and retrospective study group which are all mothers with newborns F. Luis Hospital Canton Martinez Cañar period January 1-December 31, 2011 to reach a number of 526 cases, was used as a data collection tool CLAP leaf in which you can select specific variables that are associated with low weight children.
Results: There was the percentage of underweight children in relation to the general population of newborns. Variables such as maternal age, education level, marital status, height, prenatal, intergenesic, unreliable gestational age, pregnancy-related diseases (tuberculosis, hypertensive disorders, UTI, anemia), habits (smoking alcohol, drugs) and violence related to birth weight variability. We determined the characteristics of the newborn (sex, birth weight, gestational age, and low birth weight associated pathology). Finally it was observed that percentages of underweight children were referred to different areas.MédicoCuenc

The purpose of this study was to develop a viable FV-deficient mouse model using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. A viable pathological model of the disease was not available to develop new therapies. A previous in silico study was performed to select a mutation causing a mild disease phenotype in humans (Thr1898Met missense). Such mutation was replicated in mice by CRISPR-mediated homology directed repair. Following crossing, homozygous individuals were subjected to coagulometry assays, including FV levels, prothrombin time (PT), and activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT). The in silico study suggested that the mutation destabilizes FV structure of both mouse and human variants, putatively producing a mild phenotype of the disease in mice. Mendelian inheritance was observed in the offspring. No spontaneous signs of blood clotting disturbances, premature deaths or gestational dysfunctions were observed. FV levels in homozygous animals were 24.5% ± 5.1; 39.7 sec ± 2.8; PT was 61.8% ± 6.3; 23.4 sec ± 1.6 (INR = 1.47 ± 0.12); and aPTT was 46.9 sec ± 3.2. A viable FV-deficient mouse model was generated by introducing a missense mutation in FV. The model exhibits a mild phenotype of the disease, akin to that observed in humans.Comunidad de MadridUniversidad Complutense de Madrid- Banco SantanderMinisterio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades ( España)Depto. de FisiologíaDepto. de Producción AnimalDepto. de Genética, Fisiología y MicrobiologíaFac. de VeterinariaFac. de Ciencias BiológicasTRUEpu
Monty Hall game: a host with limited budget
In this paper we introduce a new version of the classical Monty Hall problem, where the host is trying to maximize the audience while is restricted in its budget. This problem is related to the design of games with a predetermined outcome, and decision making process under uncertainty when the agent does not know if the received advice is favorable or not.Fil: Alvarez, Agustin. A morphological approach to curvature-based evolution of curves and surfaces
We introduce new results connecting differential and morphological operators that provide a formal and theoretically grounded approach for stable and fast contour evolution. Contour evolution algorithms have been extensively used for boundary detection and tracking in computer vision. The standard solution based on partial differential equations and level-sets requires the use of numerical methods of integration that are costly computationally and may have stability issues. We present a morphological approach to contour evolution based on a new curvature morphological operator valid for surfaces of any dimension. We approximate the numerical solution of the curve evolution PDE by the successive application of a set of morphological operators defined on a binary level-set and with equivalent infinitesimal behavior. These operators are very fast, do not suffer numerical stability issues, and do not degrade the level set function, so there is no need to reinitialize it. Moreover, their implementation is much easier since they do not require the use of sophisticated numerical algorithms. We validate the approach providing a morphological implementation of the geodesic active contours, the active contours without borders, and turbopixels. In the experiments conducted, the morphological implementations converge to solutions equivalent to those achieved by traditional numerical solutions, but with significant gains in simplicity, speed, and stability.1724,0245,781Q1Q1SCI
Use of Modified Starchy Flours
Starch is one of the main staples in human food, its consumption having both positive and negative aspects. The exploration and exploitation of starches from alternative botanical sources has been increasing recently due to interest in the economic and social development of tropical and sub-tropical regional economies and in support of sustainability. The book reviews existing research on various aspects of starch, including physicochemical, nutritional and functional properties, plus applications in addition to foods. Emphasis is on the various physical and chemical modifications, which are aimed at improving the properties and applicability of starch.Fil: Palavecino, Pablo Martín. Universidad Nacional de Córdoba. An Estimation of CPI Biases in Argentina 1985-2005, and its Implications on Real Income Growth and Income Distribution
We use the shifts in Engel curves estimated from household surveys to estimate CPI biases in Argentina between 1985 and 2005. We find that real earning levels increased during this period between 4.3 and 5.7% faster per year than previously estimated. More surprisingly, relative to conventional wisdom, that income distribution has improved throughout this period.
