Such systems were difficult to study spectroscopically prior to the demonstration that crystaline films of the clathrate hydrates of polar molecules can be readily deposited from the vapor . Recently, as part of a study of the mechanism of the growth of ice-like crystals at low temperatures, infrared spectra of several caged molecules have been measured. The spectra are marked by evidence of dynamical coupling between neighbour guest molecules, Evans holes (i.e., Fano antiresonances) caused by the interaction of guest and host vibrational states, and sharp variations with temperature that reflect the orientational dynamics of the engaged molecules

L’auteure, femme nord-irlandaise exilée en Grande-Bretagne, évoque alors la schizophrénie anglo-irlandaise dont elle souffre à travers son personnage et son théâtre.After a fifteen-year exile to England, Greta comes back to her native province, Northern Ireland. Since her departure, she has had visions which reach their climax when a banshee requires her to go and save Ireland. This event urges her to go back to a place where she finds herself estranged. In this one-act play, Anne Devlin (1951-) analyses the impressions of feeling like a foreigner at home, a stranger to oneself, for having experienced the same situation. The author, a Northern Irish woman exiled in Great-Britain, tackles the Anglo-Irish schizophrenia she suffers from in her play and through her characters
The Suicide in light of the Hart–Devlin debate
No full textThroughout the years, suicidal acts were undoubtedly seen as a subject of controversy, both from the psychological and legal perspective. This paper aims to examine said matter, focusing on the law and morality aspect of the decriminalisation of suicide. The author analyses suicide by utilizing the historical, sociological, and philosophical perspective, drawing specifically on the legacy of the Hart–Devlin debate. Neither Hart’s, nor Devlin’s viewpoints present a satisfactory conclusion, the cause of it being the conflict between the two fundamental values: the right to life and freedom. In spite of the minor significance of suicide discourse nowadays, the conclusions stemming from its analysis may lead to further discoveries on the ground of philosophy of law.Akty samobójcze na przestrzeni wieków niewątpliwie stanowiły przedmiot kontrowersji na wielu płaszczyznach. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest opis tego zjawiska, a także przedstawienie dekryminalizacji samobójstw w ujęciu prawno-moralnym. Wykorzystując narzędzia dostarczone przez perspektywę historyczną, socjologiczną oraz filozoficznoprawną, autorka dokonuje analizy relacji między perspektywą prawną a etyczną w kontekście samobójstwa. Szczególną funkcję w tym zakresie pełni dziedzictwo jednej z najistotniejszych debat współczesnej filozofii prawa, jaką jest debata Hart–Devlin. Zarówno spojrzenie Hartowskie, jak i Devlinowskie nie prowadzi jednak do jednoznacznego rozstrzygnięcia, między innymi ze względu na dominujący w temacie samobójstwa konflikt wartości, jakimi są prawo do życia oraz wolność jednostki.
