No full textIn this article I offer an introduction to my recent book “Logic as a tool for reasoning: Ampliative Reasoning in Creativity, Cognition and Inference” (Aliseda 2014). Its title aims to be as suggestive as informative. Logic as a tool for reasoning is the thesis I defend in this research, which I show through three dimensions of reason: creative, cognitive and inferential, each of which constitutes a section of this book. While the first one is motivated by the question Does scientific discovery have a logic? the second one manifests itself through epistemic processes of knowledge acquisition and revision. The third dimension of reason, the inferential one, concerns the challenge of designing ampliative logical systems capturing some aspects of previous dimensions; the analysis of this goal is the underlying motivation of the third section of this book.Keywords: Logic, reason, discovery, creativity, cognition, ampliative reasoning.En este artículo presento una introducción a mi libro La Lógica como Herramienta de la Razón: Razonamiento Ampliativo en la Creatividad, la Cognición, y la Inferencia (Aliseda 2014) de reciente aparición. Su título pretende ser sugerente a la vez que informativo. La Lógica como herramienta de la razón es la tesis que defiendo en esta investigación y la muestro a través de tres dimensiones: la creativa, la cognitiva y la inferencial, cada una de las cuales constituye una sección del libro. Mientras que la primera está motivada por la pregunta: ¿existe una lógica del descubrimiento científico? la segunda razón se manifiesta en los procesos epistémicos de adquisición y revisión de conocimiento. La tercera dimensión de la razón, la inferencial, concierne al reto del diseño de sistemas lógicos ampliativos que capturen algunos aspectos de las otras dimensiones; el análisis de esta meta es la motivación que subyace a la tercera sección de este libro.Palabras clave: Lógica, razón, descubrimiento, creatividad, cognición, razonamiento ampliativo.
