THE EFFECT OF THE APPLICATION OF 20% CARBAMIDE PEROXIDE ON THE GLASS IONOMER CEMENT TYPE II SURFACE HARDNESS
In dental bleaching, carbamide peroxide is usually used at concentration of 10%, 15%, to 20%. The result of our previous study showed that the application of 10% and 15% carbamide peroxide bleaching agent has increased the surface hardness of glass ionomer cement. The purpose of this study was to observe the effect of 20% carbamide peroxide bleaching to glass ionomer surface hardness. Twenty specimens of glass ionomer type II after exposed to 20% carbamide peroxide were divided into two application time groups: 4 and 8 hours per day. Glass ionomer cement surface hardness was measured by Vickers Microhardness Tester series HMV-2 with a weight of 0,025 Hv for 20 seconds. The measurement was conducted at before/no application, after a week, and after 2 weeks of application in both groups. It can be concluded that the application of 20% carbamide peroxide bleaching agent could increase the surface hardness of glass ionomer cement after 1 week and 2 weeks application period

ABSTRAK
Bleaching rnenipakan upaya pemulthan stiatu bahan secala krrnia, saat Ini sudah banyak digunakan di kedokteran gigi Bleaching Monte bleaching) di kedokleran gigi urnumnya menggunakan karbamid peroksida 10% sarnpai 15%. Karbamid peroksida akari mullah tcrurai menjadi hidrogen peroksida dan urea. Bilamana bahan pemutih cligunakan dan kontak dengan tumpatan semen glass lonomer tipe II konvensional dapat menyebabkan perubahan struktur permukaannya Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh lama aplikasi bahan pemutih yang mengandung karbamid peroksida 10% terhadap kekerasan permukaan semen glass ionomer tipe tl. Dibual spesimen sebanyak 20 bitah yang dibagi 2 ketompok aplikasi, yaltu aplikasi 4 jamihari dan aplikasi 8 jarn/hari. Setiap spesimen dad masing masing ketompok aplikasi dilakukan uji kekerasan permukaan sebelurn aplikasi (tanpa aplikasi), setelah 1 minggu aplikasi, dan setelah 2 minggu aplikasi. Digunakan Vickers Microhardness dengan berat bahan 0,0025 1--lv sciama 20 detik untuk mengukur kekerasan permukaan semen glass ionomer tipe II. Data yang diperoleh dilakukan uji analisa statistik Anova. Terdapat perbedaan bermakna antara kelompok setelah 1 minggu dan selelan 2 minggu dengan ketompok tanpa aplikasi baik pada aplikasi 4 jamihari maupun pada aplikasi 8 jam/han. Disimptilkaa penggunaan bahan pemutih karbamid peroksida 10% dapai meningkatkan kekerasan permukaan semen glass ionomer tipe II.

PERBEDAAN SHEAR BOND STRENGTH DUA MACAM KOMPOSIT RESIN PADA DENTIN DENGAN DUA BAHAN BONDING YANG BERBEDA
The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the shear bond strength of resin composite materials to dentin by using different bonding agents. Forty human premolars were selected for the study, and cylindrical posts of either Spectrum TPH and Charisma were bonded vertically to a standard flat dentinal area, prepared on the buccal surface. A chisel-shaped shearing blade, attached to the crosshead of a universal mechanical testing machine. The shear bond strength to dentin of 10 resin composite-dentin adhesive combinations were measured. The results showed that the bond strength values of dentin bonding agents were not significant (p>0.05). It seems important for clinicians to use the combination of resin composite and dentin bonding agent recommended by the manufacturer.</p

The Utilization of Additional Cassava Starch (Manihot utilisima) for Alginate Dental Impression Material
In Indonesia alginate which is a common impression material used in dentistry is still imported. Since the economic crisis in 1998 the alginate price becoming four times more expensive. This situation resulted in efforts to modify the commercial alginate as had been conducted by a dentist in South Sumatera province in Indonesia. He who had added cassava starch into the commercial alginate used to make partial denture impression. The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of additional cassava starch into the commercial alginate on its ability to produce reproduction detail using type III gypsum the amont of 120 specimens were divided into 6 group of various additional cassava starch 45–55%. The specimens then being impressed with detail reproduction tool (ISO No. : 1563/1978) and the result is then analyzed under a stereo microscope. Conclusion: the alginate impression material with cassava starch with ratio up to 47,5% can be used as an impression in 50μm and 75μm in depth line.

Jiwa menjadi murah bahkan tidak lagi bermakna dalam suasana seperti itu
