Proteomic characterization of eurycoma longifolia and its application in validating tongkat Ali herbal products / Venoos Iman
No full textEurycoma longifolia commonly known as “Tongkat Ali” in Malaysia is claimed to have aphrodisiac properties and has been widely used in Malay traditional medicine. An aphrodisiac is defined as a substance that increases sexual activity and libido and/or improves sexual performance. These claims have led to a vast number of “Tongkat Ali” products being marketed without proper authentication. There was therefore a need to characterize the proteins in these commercial Tongkat Ali herbal products using biomarkers to establish the authenticity of the claims. The important chemical components in Eurycoma longifolia are eurycomanol, eurycomanone and eurycomalactone. However they are not linked to the aphrodisiac properties, instead suspected to be protein base. In this study a total of 23 Ministry Of Health (MOH) approved and 6 non-MOH approved samples were sourced and screened for markers previously developed using two dimensional electrophoresi (2-DE). The markers were denoted as A and B with appearances between 12 to 14 kDa in 2-DE performed on IPG strips of 3-10 (7 cm) for the 1st dimensional electrophoresis, while 12.5% homogenous gel was used for the 2nd dimensional electrophoresis in silver stain. The results of the study confirmed that 18 of the 29 products tested were authentic with the presence of both biomarkers A and B, while 11 (a combination of both approved and non-MOH approved products) did not show presence of biomarkers. This enabled authentication of the products tested. The protein markers in addition to the existing chemical marker, Eurycomanone, may serve to be useful in authenticating genuine Tongkat Ali products

Seismic reliability assessment of RC tunnel-form structures with geometric irregularities using a combined system approach
No full textTunnel-form structures represent a new type of structural systems with enhanced earthquake resistance and
considerably reduced construction times, if compared to conventional reinforced concrete frames and dual
systems. Due to the limited information about the seismic performance of tunnel-form buildings in the presence
of vertical and horizontal irregularities, seismic design standards generally prevent such irregularities and
therefore impose significant architectural limitations. To address this issue, a liability assessment is here conducted
on irregular 5- and 10-storey tunnel-form buildings subjected to 12 different earthquakes, representing a
design spectrum. The structural response of these buildings is obtained under both Design Basis Earthquake
(DBE) and Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCE) hazard levels by using time-history and nonlinear static
(pushover) analyses. The reliability of the buildings is then assessed by using a novel combined system approach,
in which the structural effects of walls and coupling beams at each storey are modeled as series and parallel subsystems.
The results of this study show that, despite the geometric irregularities, all the structural elements could
satisfy the Immediate Occupancy (IO) performance level under both DBE and MCE scenarios with over 95%
reliability. Therefore, enforcing the regularity for tunnel-form structures in current seismic design guidelines
appears to be too conservative; the results of this study can then prove useful for a more efficient design of
irregular tunnel-form structures in seismic regions

Many problems and difficulties can be detected early in the research and at the same time creating new knowledge. These difficulties are in knowing what product can prevent covid-19 in vehicles. The coronavirus can live for hours to days on surfaces like countertops and doorknobs. How long it survives depends on the material the surface is made from. After research, we found a solution to prevent covid-19 infection in vehicles. The solution that
was found is to create a car sanitizer. The function of car sanitizer is to sanitize inside the vehicle to prevent covid-19 in the vehicle. This product spray sanitizer to all parts inside the vehicle to remove viruses and this product has a usb port for other uses

No full textHasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa percaya diri adalah berbuat dengan penuh keyakinan. Apapun tantangan yang dihadapi dan dalam kondisi apapun ia akan menggapai cita-citanya. Kemudian hakikat percaya diri yang tedapat pada QS. Ali Imran/3:139-140 adalah hakikat percaya diri disini adalah dalam mencapai kesuksesan dalam hidup sangat diperlukan sekali kepercayaan terhadap diri sendiri. Untuk mendapatkan kepercayaan diri sendiri, dibutuhkan proses. Proses awal yang terjadi bahwa manusia itu harus mempercayai adanya Allah swt. iman akan meningkatkan kepercayaaan diri ummat Islam, karena segala sesuatu yang mereka usahakan/kerjakan akan diterima di sisi-Nya, dengan syarat bahwa segala sesuatu yang dilakukan harus berada dalam koridor keimanan, tidak semata- mata nafsu belaka. Wujud percaya diri yang disebutkan pada QS. Ali Imran/3: 139 ini terdapat 3 macam, yaitu Percaya Diri Dengan kekuatan fikiran/tindakan, Percaya Diri Dengan Berjiwa besar, dan Percaya Diri Dengan Mengetahui Keunggulan. Selanjutnya, urgensi percaya diri yang disebutkan pada QS. Ali Imran/3:139-140 adalah Percaya Diri Sebagai Kunci Kesuksesan
