This study aims to analyze the implementation of School-Based Management (SBM) at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (Mts) in Balpetu Village, Kepala Madan District, South Buru Regency. Although the SBM concept is designed to provide autonomy to schools in resource management, this study identifies significant challenges in its implementation. The main challenges faced include financial limitations, a lack of qualified human resources, inadequate infrastructure, and minimal support from the local community and government. The limited educational facilities, such as buildings still using basic construction materials, as well as restricted electricity and internet access, further hinder the learning process. Additionally, operational funds sourced from the BOS program remain insufficient to meet the school's needs. This research employs a qualitative method, with data collected through interviews, observations, and document studies. Based on the findings, it is recommended that the local government and the Ministry of Religious Affairs pay more attention to the educational conditions in this area and provide adequate support to address the issues faced. This is essential to ensure optimal learning quality and achieve the desired educational goals. This research is expected to serve as a reference for developing school-based education policies in remote areas

This study explores the role of traditional village governments in integrating local wisdom with modern policies through the implementation of sasi, a customary natural resource management system in Negeri Lima, Leihitu District, Maluku. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through observation and in-depth interviews with local stakeholders, including customary leaders and government representatives. The findings reveal that traditional institutions, particularly the kewang, function as critical intermediaries that align indigenous practices with contemporary governance frameworks. The implementation of sasi has become more adaptive and structured due to this synergy, resulting in improved management of local resources such as nutmeg and coconut, while maintaining ecological sustainability and economic relevance. The study highlights that traditional village governments are not merely preservers of custom, but also agents of innovation who mediate change without sacrificing cultural identity. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on the evolving role of adat-based governance in responding to modern challenges, offering a new perspective on how traditional systems can collaborate with formal policies to produce sustainable, locally rooted solutions. This integration model not only reinforces the relevance of local wisdom in contemporary contexts but also presents a replicable framework for similar communities confronting ecological and developmental pressures. The study contributes to social sciences and humanities by providing empirical evidence of how tradition and modernity can co-create responsive, innovative models for natural resource governance

In order to explore the actual dimensions of public participatory practices, survey sessions were conducted in the residential areas around Seremban. It was found that 35% of the respondents are involved with the Local Agenda 21 programs organized by the Seremban Municipal Council. Further analysis found that most of the respondents participated in the cleanliness activities such as gotong-royong. This analysis of participation is proved through the involvement of the public in an authority's Local Agenda 21 practices. The research outcome is significant to fill in the knowledge gap and thus enhance the public participation in the local government administration in Malaysia especially through the Local Agenda 21 program

This study aims to examine the implementation of 'sasi' (traditional ecological management) in the management of natural resources in current indigenous territories, particularly the government policy in Negeri Morella, Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency, in organising the management of nutmeg plant resources. The enforcement of 'sasi' by the indigenous community for natural resource management represents a form of responsibility and manifestation of good governance in implementing natural resource management policies in Negeri Morella. The research approach used is qualitative, with a case study design. The research results indicate that the implementation of 'sasi' in indigenous territories in Maluku, especially in Central Maluku, has significantly reduced and, in some cases, is not implemented at all. Negeri Morella itself only enforces 'sasi pala' (nutmeg prohibition) with the main objective of supporting the economic resilience of the community households. The active involvement of the Negeri Morella Government in natural resource management through the enforcement of 'sasi' has had a positive impact on the community, ensuring the sustainability of the available resources for future generations

Safeguarding Imperiled Biodiversity and Evolutionary Processes in the Wallacea Center of Endemism

\ua9 2022 The Author(s).Wallacea - the meeting point between the Asian and Australian fauna - is one of the world\u27s largest centers of endemism. Twenty-three million years of complex geological history have given rise to a living laboratory for the study of evolution and biodiversity, highly vulnerable to anthropogenic pressures. In the present article, we review the historic and contemporary processes shaping Wallacea\u27s biodiversity and explore ways to conserve its unique ecosystems. Although remoteness has spared many Wallacean islands from the severe overexploitation that characterizes many tropical regions, industrial-scale expansion of agriculture, mining, aquaculture and fisheries is damaging terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, denuding endemics from communities, and threatening a long-term legacy of impoverished human populations. An impending biodiversity catastrophe demands collaborative actions to improve community-based management, minimize environmental impacts, monitor threatened species, and reduce wildlife trade. Securing a positive future for Wallacea\u27s imperiled ecosystems requires a fundamental shift away from managing marine and terrestrial realms independently
