Teacher formative assessment: the missing link in response to intervention
Response to Intervention (RtI) focuses on the assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring of student academic performance and social behavior. Despite requiring highly-qualified personnel for successful implementation, the implementation of Rtl has not focused on applying its foundational principles towards promoting teacher effectiveness through assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring of teacher classroom practice. Compounding this problem is the lack of availability of reliable and valid teacher assessments to apply in an Rtl model for teacher professional development. This chapter provides a rationale for applying RtI principles to teacher professional development and how teacher formative assessment can improve educator effectiveness, student learning, and social behaviors. The Classroom Strategies Scale (CSS, Reddy & Dudek, 2014), a new multidimensional assessment of instructional and behavioral management practices is discussed as an example of one promising tool for promoting teachers professional development within an Rtl model. We offer a synthesis of the theory, research, and evidence of reliability and validity of the CSS. The application of teacher formative assessment in job-embedded professional development/coaching models for schools is discussed. Finally, implications for practice and research are outlined.Peer reviewe
An introduction to continuum mechanics / J.N. Reddy.
engineering bookfair2015Includes bibliographical references and index.xxvi, 450 pages :"This best-selling textbook presents the concepts of continuum mechanics in a simple yet rigorous manner. The book introduces the invariant form as well as the component form of the basic equations and their applications to problems in elasticity, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer, and offers a brief introduction to linear viscoelasticity. The book is ideal for advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students looking to gain a strong background in the basic principles common to all major engineering fields, and for those who will pursue further work in fluid dynamics, elasticity, plates and shells, viscoelasticity, plasticity, and interdisciplinary areas such as geomechanics, biomechanics, mechanobiology, and nanoscience. The book features derivations of the basic equations of mechanics in invariant (vector and tensor) form and specification of the governing equations to various coordinate systems, and numerous illustrative examples, chapter summaries, and exercise problems. This second edition includes additional explanations, examples, and problems"-
Advancing instructional coaching with teacher formative assessment and input
With increased attention to teacher quality and accountability, instructional coaching has emerged as a popular form of teacher support and professional development in literacy and other areas of instruction. Despite significant interest from school personnel, researchers, and federal funders, there remains a lack of consensus around the key components and activities of instructional coaching. To that end, studies that use quantitative and qualitative methods can offer valuable information on the development and validation of coaching practices. This chapter briefly describes the Classroom Strategies Assessment System Coaching Model that draws on the adult learning and formative assessment literature. We offer key observations of educators' knowledge of and experience in instructional coaching from focus groups conducted with teachers in high-poverty, urban elementary schools. Directions for practice and research are discussed.Peer reviewe
Service-oriented models for audiovisual content storage
What are the important topics to understand if involved with storage services to hold digital audiovisual content? This report takes a look at how content is created and moves into and out of storage; the storage service value networks and architectures found now and expected in the future; what sort of data transfer is expected to and from an audiovisual archive; what transfer protocols to use; and a summary of security and interface issues
Synthesis, Structural Elucidation and Bioassay of Morpholine/Thiomorpholine and Piperidine Containing Oxazoles
The series of novel oxazole derivatives (3-4) have been synthesized. All the entitles compounds were characterized by IR, 1H, 13C NMR, mass spectra. All the lead compounds were tested for antimicrobial activity. The compound 4f having chloro substituent on the aromatic ring displays greater antimicrobial activity particularly against P. aeruginosa and P. crysogenum. © 2020 Author(s).The authors G. Sravya and N. Bakkthavatchala Reddy are thankful to Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg, Russia for giving postdoctoral fellowship

Female employment in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India and its two most urbanized districts (Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad): a 1991 census analysis, 1998
This research examined the relationship of female employment with three major contributing factors: ecological, motivational, and personal ability factors, in the state of Andhra Pradesh and its two highly urbanized districts (Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad). The 1991 census data were utilized as a major source. Specifically, the study tested the following six hypotheses: 1. Female work force participation rates vary by rural-urban residence, industrial categories, and National Industrial Classification (NIC). 2. Differential female work force participation rates can be observed by class of worker and occupational type. 3. Female workers vary by their educational attainment, age, and marital status. 4. The growth rate of female work force participation is significantly effected by change in industrial structure, time-period, and rural-urban residence over a period of time. 5. Female employment, especially in non-agricultural and non-household sectors, is significantly effected by education and urbanization, independently as well as combined. 6. The structure of female employment is the same between the state of Andhra Pradesh and its districts, Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad, but the size of participation may vary. The results of the data analysis confirmed all hypotheses
Diagnosis of Multiple-Voltage Design with Bridge Defect
Multiple voltage is an effective dynamic power reduction design technique commonly used in low-power ICs. To the best of our knowledge, there is no reported work for diagnosing multiple-voltage enabled ICs, and the aim of this paper is to propose a method for diagnosing bridge defects in such ICs. By using synthesized ISCAS benchmarks, with realistic extracted bridges and a parametric fault model, this paper investigates the impact of varying supply voltage on the accuracy of diagnosis and demonstrates how the additional voltage settings can be leveraged to improve the diagnosis resolution through a novel multivoltage diagnosis algorithm. In addition, it also identifies the most useful voltage settings to reduce diagnosis cost by eliminating tests at certain voltage setting using the proposed multivoltage diagnosis approach, thereby achieving high diagnosis accuracy at reduced cost
Dr. Biman Bagchi a bibliometric portrait
Analyses bibliometrically 226 publications [Papers Published in journals-220, thesis [others 4] by Biman Bagchi, a renowned physical chemist from India, published during 1981 to 2002. The first contribution of the author was in 1981 at the age of 27. The number of his contributions in a year peaked in 1999 and 2002 when it touched 19. The author is highly productive in as much as on average the author has produced 10 papers per year. In the byline of authorship, Bagchi occupies the first authorship position in 69 cases. His collaborator A. Chandra occupies the first authorship position in 30 papers thus becoming Bagchi's closest collaborator. The journal has been the most preferred channel of communication of the author in as much as 220 papers out of 226 have been praced in journals. J. Chem. Phys. is found to be the most preferred journal that carried 91 papers of the author, followed by Chem. Phys. Lett. (21 papers). J. Phys. Chem. (19 papers), Proc. Indian Acad. Sci. - Chem. Sci. (13 papers), and others. Of the papers, 179 received 4030 citations and 47 received no citations. It is expected that more than 20 uncited papers till 2002 will receive citations in future. Three papers of the author have received more than 200 citations each, and another three received between 100-200 citations each. The number of papers receiving 10 citations or more total 92. On four different years the scientist has received more than 300 citations and his citation rate per paper has peaked at 18.98. The article shows with a concrete example the growth, peaking and declining of citation rate. A few new terms such as citation gain, citation loss, gaining citation rate and losing citation rate have been introduced and described
