A pesquisa registrou 16 novas espécies. This dissertation approaches the vertebrate fauna biogeographic of the coast islands in Santa Catarina (Brazil), which focus are marine and short birds through regional and geosystemic analysis. The research occurred in 23 islands arranged between Piçarras (north) and the Laguna (south) towns, through seasonal visits, totaling 44 inspections. These islands were made up of 11 thousand years, when the sea were in a high level, finalizing on a descent that last 5 thousand and a hundred years, when disappeared the fluvial systems, mangrove swamps, lakes and lagoons. It had been identified 15 vertebrates habitats: rocky and sandy up coast, rocky and sandy middle coast, herbaceous vegetation, shrubs vegetation, trees vegetation, antropic vegetation, flood, cavern, lagoon, stream, building and air space. From the north to the south of the islands in coast, the open and protected seas of the big bay of the Island of Santa Catarina have the same habitats. The island which has more habitats diversity is the Corais whilst, Santana-de-Dentro and Tacamí, with the less diversity. The vertebrates total in143 species, with predominance of the birds. The mammals abounds more than the reptiles and amphibians altogether and there arent fishes. The search recorded 16 new species. The habitats with more fauna are in the native vegetation, rocky up coast, antropic vegetation and edification. The habitats with less speices are in lagoon and flood, stream, ground and cavern. The marine and shore birds of Santa Catarina are the same of the Brazilian coast and constitute by cosmopolitan and pan tropical species such as the Larídeos, Pelecaniformes and Ciconiformes. The most important of the vertebrates support is the residence. The antropocoria is the most dynamic and to become extinct is a fact nowadays. The fact that the seagulls are the predators of the tern, limit the breeding of the Sterna. The reproduction, the rest and the isolation of the marine and shore birds are more important than the forage. The low endemic doesnt means low species, but few research. The more important islands for the marine and coast birds are: Molequesdo-Sul, Batuta, Ilhota, Deserta and Feia. The climate, oceanographic and botanical transitions for the cold and dry systems of the pampeana and Patagonia regions, dont run parallel to the fauna and the habitats transition. The research showed two island biogeographic spaces: the Provincial Tupi, of the Atlantic forest and the Tropical Atlantic Oceanic Control of the coasts and the beaches. Vertebrates of the Neartic, Subantartic and Antarctic Regions, the Pampeana and Patagonia Provincias and the Tropical Atlantic Oceanic Control, share these two spaces. Considering that there isnt an appropriate biogeographic frame, the Guaratiba Biogeographic District in the coast region between the Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro could be suggested. The district would be beacomed by the seagull and the associated marine and shore birds control. The founded biogeographic model presents an interface between the natural courses and the human action and it can be used to stimulate the researches about conservation besides as a structure to the public administrators to formulate better manage mechanisms

2012 Apr;67(2):165-73. Gastrointestinal stromal tumors treatment in the Imatinib era. The role of fair indication. Vendettuoli M1, Pironi D, Pontone S, Panarese A, La Gioia G, Arcieri S, Romani AM, Palazzini G, Filippini A. Author information Abstract AIM: Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is the most common mesenchymal tumor of the gastrointestinal tract. Surgery remains the elective treatment. We retrospectively compared two group of patients, who underwent surgery for GIST before and after Imatinib advent in order to analyze the recurrence and survival rate. METHODS: Two patient groups who underwent surgery for GIST, from January 1997 to December 2002 (Pre-Imatinib group) and from January 2003 to December 2008 (Post-Imatinib group) were compared. Patients were evaluated on the base of gender, age, clinical manifestations, primary location and metastasis positivity, tumor size, mitotic index, immunoreactivity for CD117 and the outcome, including date of death. RESULTS: In the Pre-IM group only one patient died for prostate cancer, 12 months after operation, the other died because of GIST with a 24.6 months of median survival rate (range 15-51). In the remaining 12 patients the median follow up period was 55 months (range 6-152 months). In the Post-IM group the mean follow up was 50.7 months (range 26-74) and they are still being assessed for oncological as well as surgical treatment. CONCLUSION: Early diagnosis and radical resection remain the standard of cure for GISTs. To date, the use of Imatinib lead to its utilization as adjuvant and neo-adjuvant therapy in adults. Our experience suggests that there is a correlation between the mutational status of KIT and clinical outcome. These aspects should be explored for targeted therapy that can effectively combine biological therapy to surgery. PMID: 22487918 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLIN

It is known to be formed mainly in starch-rich foods, cooked or processed at high temperatures (above 120°C) in the absence of moisture, via the Maillard reaction when a reduced carbohydrate (glucose and fructose) combines with the amino acid asparagine. Moreover, evidence suggests that acrylamide may also form from the degradation of proteins and fats.
Acrylamide is present in a large variety of commonly consumed products such as coffee, potato-derived products, and cereal-derived products, including breakfast cereals, bread, and biscuits. Except for boiling, acrylamide may form with the most common cooking methods e.g., grilling, baking, roasting, and frying. Additionally, several chemical and physical factors, namely pH, can affect acrylamide formation during food cooking or processing. By improving our understanding of how to modify these factors, it is possible to significantly reduce acrylamide formation in cooked and processed foods, thereby mitigating potential health risks associated with acrylamide.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Study of HEMT electronics coupled to cryogenic detectors for the RICOCHET experiment
Les signaux chaleur seront lus par une électronique plus classique, à base de Si-JFET, pendant la première phase de RICOCHET.Cryogenic germanium detectors with heat-and-ionization double readout are able to identify the nature of the recoil induced by an interaction. Running in a low radioactivity dilution fridge and surrounded by lead and polyethylene shieldings they can be used as rare events search detectors. The RICOCHET experiment bolometers will measure neutrinos interactions by the so-called CENNS process (Coherent Elastic Neutrino Nucleus Scattering). They will discriminate the nuclear recoils induced by this interaction from the electronic recoils dominating the background events. The RICOCHET goal is to perform a precision measurement of the CENNS process, to compare it with the Standard Model predictions and to search possible signs of new physics. The experimental payload will consist of 27 germanium detectors of 38g (CryoCube) and 9 superconducting zinc detector of 32g (Q-Array). The cryostat will be installed at the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), 8 meters away from the 58 MW research reactor. The antineutrino flux of 10^12/(cm2.s) at the detector level will induce 15 CENNS interactions per day on the CryoCube. The CryoCube detectors are produced by the IJCLab and are an optimization of the massive (800g) detectors developed for the EDELWEISS-III Dark Matter search experiment. This optimization already allowed to reach 20 eV resolution on the heat channel and 200 eVee (electron-equivalent) on the ionization channel. The goal is to reach a nuclear recoil threshold of 50 eV, corresponding to heat and ionization resolutions of 10 eV and 20 eVee, respectively. This thesis work aims at reaching those resolutions with the use of a High Electron Mobility Transistor (HEMT) technology developed by the C2N laboratory of CNRS for low frequency and high impedance applications. The HEMT are working at cryogenic temperatures below 4 K, which allows to use them close to the detectors. This reduces the total length and the stray capacitance of the cabling between the detectors and the first amplification stage, usually based on Si-JFET transistors working at about 120 K. Reducing the parasitic capacitance directly improves the ionization channel performance. A noise model, based on both 4.2 K HEMT data from C2N and optimized geometries for the RICOCHET detectors, has been developed. This model shows that the objectives are reachable for 38g detectors and a total input capacitance at the HEMT input reduced to 20 pF. HEMT performance, such as gain and noise, has been measured in various conditions of temperature and power dissipation to constrain their use in the future experiment. Homogeneity of the results has been studied on 25 transistors and extrapolated to demonstrate the feasibility for RICOCHET to use up to 150 HEMT cooled on a 1 K stage only few cm away from the detectors. The readout and bias electronics will be coupled to the digitization, repartition and synchronization parts in a Bolometer Box, jointly developed by IP2I and Institut Néel electronics groups. The HEMT have been coupled to prototype detectors and have already reached a resolution of 41 eVee on the ionization channel before final electronics and cabling optimization. This resolution is the best obtained so far worldwide on massive cryogenic germanium detectors. Further optimization steps are well defined to reach the 20 eVee goal. Heat performance is limited to 60 eV as of today. A large excess noise has been identified but not fixed during this thesis work. Possible explanations have been exposed and should be tested in future works. The heat channels will be readout by a more standard, Si-JFET based, cold electronics during the first phase of the RICOCHET experiment
