Six in Ten Support the Alexander-Murray Healthcare Fixes
A policymaking simulation is an online process that puts citizens in the shoes of elected officials by simulating the process they go through in making policy decisions. Each simulation introduces a broader policy topic and then presents a series of modules that address a specific policy option that is currently under consideration in the current discourse.
For each module, respondents:
1) receive a short briefing on a policy issue and the option or options for addressing it;
2) evaluate arguments for and against the policy options; and
3) finally, make their recommendation for what their elected officials should do.A new in-depth survey presented the three key provisions of the Alexander Murray bill, that addresses issues with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), to a sample of 2,511 registered voters and had them evaluate arguments for and against each provision. In the end, all three proposals were endorsed by about six in ten voters. These include allowing Americans age 30 and up to have low cost, high deductible ‘copper plans,’ and reversing the Trump administration cuts for health-care cost subsidies for low-income people, and cuts for outreach and education for the ACA exchanges.
One of the most controversial aspects of the ACA is that Americans age 30 and up cannot have what are called ‘copper plans,’ which have lower premiums but require patients to pay nearly all of the medical costs until they meet the high deductible of $7,150. The proposal in the Alexander-Murray bill is to allow older people to have such low-cost plans as well
Community pharmacy alcohol-related liver disease risk identification and linkage to care through development of a complex intervention
Liver disease is one of the leading causes of premature mortality in the United Kingdom. Alcohol-related liver disease (ArLD) causes the majority of these deaths. Morbidity and mortality from ArLD can be reduced if it is diagnosed earlier. Earlier diagnosis can be achieved by testing for ArLD in people who are at risk of it due to their alcohol consumption. Local liver disease pathways exist to facilitate earlier diagnosis in primary care. There is a drive to widen their reach by using novel community settings to identify ArLD. Community pharmacies represent an accessible setting with evidence indicating harmful alcohol use can be identified by pharmacists through alcohol screening and brief intervention (SBI) services. This PhD explores the development of a complex intervention that can enable community pharmacy to utilise this accessibility and SBI experience to identify patients at risk of ArLD and link them with ArLD pathways of care. The work in this PhD is underpinned by the Medical Research Council guidance on complex intervention development and undertaken in four work packages.Firstly, to gain understanding of context and the wider system, an interrupted time series study examined the effect of implementing a local liver disease pathway to identify ArLD (the Southampton primary care liver pathway - SLP) on referrals to secondary care. This found the SLP was associated with a statistically significant gradual reduction in referrals, demonstrating the potential impact of a community ArLD liver disease intervention and a method of evaluating such interventions.Secondly, a review of existing evidence using a qualitative evidence synthesis of nine studies of SBI in community pharmacy was undertaken. This generated understanding of the barriers and facilitators experienced in the delivery of SBI so that these can be addressed in intervention design. Facilitators included non-confrontational communication skills, aligning SBI with existing pharmacy services and pharmacist role legitimacy. Barriers included multiple demands on staff time, a lack of staff experience with screening tools, and staff concerns of causing offence.Thirdly, new primary research was conducted as semi-structured interviews with stakeholders (n=26). This explored perceptions of a role for community pharmacists in ArLD identification, perceived challenges to such a role, and potential features of the intervention. Stakeholders included patients with ArLD, members of the public, pharmacists and pharmacy assistants, hepatology professionals and general practitioners. Finally, the intervention was designed and refined using theory and stakeholder review. The behaviour change wheel was applied to earlier findings to guide the design of the intervention. This was then refined through a co-design workshop with key stakeholders. The outcome of this work was 23 described key components and a structure of a community pharmacy complex intervention anticipated to have the best chance of being implementable and suitable for assessment in feasibility and pilot testing in future work
SYAKHSIYATU HAMIDA WA HAMIDO FI AL-RIWAYAH AL-UGHNIYYAH AD-DA’IRIYYAH LI NAWAL EL SAADAWI (DIRASAH TAHLILIYAH NAFSIYYAH ADABIYAH HENRY ALEXANDER MURRAY)
Skripsi yang berjudul “Syakhsiyatu Hamida wa Hamido fi al-riwayah al-Ughniyyah
ad-Da’iriyyah li Nawal El Saadawi (Dirasah Tahliliyah Nafsiyyah Adabiyah Henry
Black Family Bibles - Accession 1687
The Black Family Bibles consists of two bibles belonging to the Black Family and extended family of Rock Hill, SC. The Black Family Bibles contain genealogical entries that range from 1798-1909 and mainly relate to the Black Family and McFadden Family. Many items were found in the bibles that were removed including several Confederate Veteran ribbons, newspaper articles and clippings (including obituaries), church programs, correspondence, cards, locks of hair, drawings, and cross-stitch.
The bibles belonged to Lieutenant Alexander Murray Black (1837-1915) who served in Company H, 12th regiment, South Carolina Volunteers for the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. Alexander Murray Black is the son of Alexander Templeton Black (1798-1875) who is considered one of the leading personages in the founding of Rock Hill, SC and deed away land to help develop the downtown area. The Black family can trace their lineage in the Rock Hill, SC area to A. M. Black’s Great Grandfather Alexander Black (1733-1800) who lived in the area.https://digitalcommons.winthrop.edu/manuscriptcollection_findingaids/2663/thumbnail.jp
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
