Der Familienname Nobis im Erzgebirge
Given present-day distribution of the German family name Nobis in two main areas, the article examines its original meaning as far as the chiefly rural Erzgebirge region in the South West of Saxony is concerned. The author has his doubts about the widely held opinion that Nobis, derived from remote taverns of the same name (Nobiskrug, Nobishaus), is alleged to designate the ‘devil’, or rather, a person of this kind. Instead, the negating, slightly pejorative argot term nobis/Nobis involving the idea of smallness is taken up to explain this family name

Development and analysis of a finite element model to simulate pulmonary emphysema in CT imaging
In CT imaging, pulmonary emphysema appears as lung regions with Low-Attenuation Areas (LAA). In this study we propose a finite element (FE) model of lung parenchyma, based on a 2-D grid of beam elements, which simulates pulmonary emphysema related to smoking in CT imaging. Simulated LAA images were generated through space sampling of the model output. We employed two measurements of emphysema extent: Relative Area (RA) and the exponent D of the cumulative distribution function of LAA clusters size. The model has been used to compare RA and D computed on the simulated LAA images with those computed on the models output. Different mesh element sizes and various model parameters, simulating different physiological/pathological conditions, have been considered and analyzed. A proper mesh element size has been determined as the best trade-off between reliable results and reasonable computational cost. Both RA and D computed on simulated LAA images were underestimated with respect to those calculated on the models output. Such underestimations were larger for RA (≈ -44 ÷ -26%) as compared to those for D (≈ -16 ÷ -2%). Our FE model could be useful to generate standard test images and to design realistic physical phantoms of LAA images for the assessment of the accuracy of descriptors for quantifying emphysema in CT imaging.SCOPUS: cp.pSCOPUS: cp.pinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
Development of digital phantoms based on a finite element model to simulate low-attenuation areas in CT imaging for pulmonary emphysema quantification
Purpose: To develop an innovative finite element (FE) model of lung parenchyma which simulates pulmonary emphysema on CT imaging. The model is aimed to generate a set of digital phantoms of low-attenuation areas (LAA) images with different grades of emphysema severity. Methods: Four individual parameter configurations simulating different grades of emphysema severity were utilized to generate 40 FE models using ten randomizations for each setting. We compared two measures of emphysema severity (relative area (RA) and the exponent D of the cumulative distribution function of LAA clusters size) between the simulated LAA images and those computed directly on the models output (considered as reference). Results: The LAA images obtained from our model output can simulate CT-LAA images in subjects with different grades of emphysema severity. Both RA and D computed on simulated LAA images were underestimated as compared to those calculated on the models output, suggesting that measurements in CT imaging may not be accurate in the assessment of real emphysema extent. Conclusions: Our model is able to mimic the cluster size distribution of LAA on CT imaging of subjects with pulmonary emphysema. The model could be useful to generate standard test images and to design physical phantoms of LAA images for the assessment of the accuracy of indexes for the radiologic quantitation of emphysema.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
UTILIZAÇÃO DE BERTALHA (ANREDERA CORDIFOLIA (TEN.) Steenis) E ORA-PRO-NOBIS (PERESKIA ACULEATA MILL.)
O teor proteico
da bertalha e ora-pro-nobis foi, respectivamente 21,66% e
20,10%, quanto aos lipídeos a primeira espécie apresentou
2,28% e a segunda 2,07%. Com relação a cinzas e fibras,
a bertalha apresentou 19,81% e 27,55%, respectivamente,
e a ora-pro-nobis 13,66% e 39,27%.
This article reviews the most import ant topics in the encyclical of Pius Xi titled Dilectissima nobis in which the Pope expresses his opposition to the persecution of the Catholic Church and to attempts to restrict religious freedom in Spain during the 1930s. The Church was regarded as an enemy of the state and of social progress. The first two sections of the article provide the historical background of Spanish anti-clericalism and its increasing hostility to the Church. The third section shows how legislators successfully took away the Church’s ability to function in society. The fourth section discusses the most important topics in the encyclical Dilectissima nobis. In the last section, the author presents the person of Pope Pius XI in the context of his time. He was an enemy of communist ideology, which enslaved man, and a great defender of human dignity.Artykuł stanowi przegląd najważniejszych wątków zawartych w encyklice Piusa Xi zatytułowanej Dilectissima nobis, w której papież wyraża swój sprzeciw wobec prześladowań Kościoła katolickiego i prób ograniczania wolności religijnej w Hiszpanii w latach trzydziestych XX wieku.

Moral Nihilism, Intellectual Nihilism & Practical Ethics
Arguments for moral nihilismthe view that there are no moral truthsare criticized by showing that their major premises suggest epistemic or intellectual nihilismthe view that no beliefs are reasonable, justi?ed, ought to be believed, and so on. Insofar as intellectual nihilism ought be rejected, this shows that the major premises of arguments for moral nihilisms ought to be rejected also
