O pensamento teatral de Luís Seoane desde unha ollada interartística

No full text
The multi-talented author Luis Seoane experienced theatre in all its facets, creating a varied theatrical production, which derived from a well-articulated ideology in this specific field. Hence the main pillars of Seoane’s theatrical vision are the search for artistic synthesis and paratheater, as well as other fundamental principles such as the attempt to create a popular Galician theatre. These two main principles are significantly present in Seoane\u27s plays, as well as in his plastic work through the mural El nacimiento del teatro argentino and also in the mural project Escena parateatral [no title].O polifacético autor Luís Seoane experimentou o teatro en todas as súas vertentes, configurando unha diversificada produción teatral, derivada dun ben artellado ideario neste ámbito específico.

Hybrid methods in planetesimal dynamics: formation of protoplanetary systems and the mill condition

No full text
The formation and evolution of protoplanetary discs remains a challenge from both a theoretical and numerical standpoint. In this work, we first perform a series of tests of our new hybrid algorithm presented in Glaschke, Amaro-Seoane and Spurzem (henceforth Paper 1) that combines the advantages of high accuracy of direct-summation N-body methods with a statistical description for the planetesimal disc based on Fokker Planck techniques. We then address the formation of planets, with a focus on the formation of protoplanets out of planetesimals. We find that the evolution of the system is driven by encounters as well as direct collisions and requires a careful modelling of the evolution of the velocity dispersion and the size distribution over a large range of sizes. The simulations show no termination of the protoplanetary accretion due to gap formation, since the distribution of the planetesimals is only subjected to small fluctuations. We also show that these features are weakly correlated with the positions of the protoplanets. The exploration of different impact strengths indicates that fragmentation mainly controls the overall mass-loss, which is less pronounced during the early runaway growth. We prove that the fragmentation in combination with the effective removal of collisional fragments by gas drag sets an universal upper limit of the protoplanetary mass as a function of the distance to the host star, which we refer to as the mill condition.Astronomy & AstrophysicsSCI(E)[email protected]

Interactions Between an Apex Predator and Mesopredators Across a Landscape with Human Interference

No full text
Human activities have populated the planet with domestic animals like livestockwhile also eliminating wild species that could conflict with them. We investigatedfactors affecting predator occurrence in semiarid landscapes of centralArgentina and tested for evidence of mesopredator release at large scales. Ourstudy region has a few, small protected areas interspersed within a mosaic of livestockranches and game hunting grounds. We hypothesized that mesopredatorswould avoid spatial and temporal overlap with the apex predator, the puma, butthat human activities (i.e., cattle raising and trophy hunting) would dampen top-downeffects and mediate habitat use of smaller carnivores.Fil: Zanón Martínez, Juan Ignacio. Dynamics of multidimensional Césaro operators

No full text
[EN] We study the dynamics of the multi-dimensional Cesar degrees integral operator on L-P (I-n), for I the unit interval, 1 = 2, that is defined as C(f)(x(1),...,x(n)) = 1/x(1)x(2)...x(n) integral(x1)(0) ... integral(x1)(0) f(u(1),...,u(n))du(1)...du(n) for f is an element of L-p(I-n). This operator is already known to be bounded. As a consequence of the Eigenvalue Criterion, we show that it is hypercyclic as well. Moreover, we also prove that it is Devaney chaotic and frequently hypercyclic. The first author was supported by MEC, grant MTM201675963-P. Voice alternation and authorial presence : variation across disciplinary areas in academic english

No full text
This paper examines voice alternation, that is, variation between the active and passive voice in academic Englishes. The focus is on differences regarding degrees of author involvement. A previous study on the use of be-passives in fifteen varieties of academic English (Hundt, Schneider & Seoane 2016) found voice alternation to be very similar in both contact and native (ENL) varieties of English, with only American English showing a pronounced tendency towards a more frequent use of actives. A more fine-grained analysis, however, revealed highly significant interdisciplinary variation: whereas in the hard sciences the default option to express a transitive event is the passive voice, in the soft sciences, preference is often given to the active. In this paper we do not compare varieties of English but concentrate on ENL data from the entire academic sections of ICE corpora (International Corpus of English) as a whole in order to uncover the functional role of actives and passives across disciplinary areas with regard to authorial presence. The results indicate that the differences attested do not correlate with differences in authorial involvement (We discovered this versus This was discovered) since texts remain equally impersonal. Other factors, such as the increasing informalization observed in various genres, will have to be contemplated in any comprehensive study of the rhetoric of science

Effects of Senecio selloi (Spreng.) DC flower extract on mitochondrial membrane peroxidation and enzyme activities

Ethnobotanical use of plants may include poisonous species. Senecio (Asteraceae) is used as medicinal around the world. Senecio selloi (Spreng.) is widespread in Argentina. Purposes of this study were to investigate phytochemistry and in vitro activity of a methanolic extract of plant flowers on mitochondrial membrane peroxidation and enzyme activities. Chemiluminescence was used to test peroxidative effects, and thiazolyl blue tetrazolium bromide test (MTT) for cell viability. Results indicate presence of flavonoids and pyrrolizidine alkaloids. Regarding chemiluminescence, extract showed protective effect against peroxidation, while MTT demonstrated lower activities of mitochondrial dehydrogenases and cytosolic reductases, effects that were attributed to flavonoids and pyrrolizidine alkaloids, respectively. When ingested, pyrrolizidine alkaloids undergo hepatic biotransformation that cause damage to cells. On the contrary, toxicity does not take place when there is no metabolization. These situations may explain the ethnobotanical use of some poisonous senecios in human and veterinary medicine.Fil: Becerra, V..
